Both crews have their own flow/style. This is a tough one to judge in my opinion. They are ALL innovators in this art form though!! Love all these guys!
love them both.I will say that the Xmen LPs are easer to enjoy, sain your car or whatever, showin them off to people who dont know wassup.Isp have a bunch of underground and indie type shit(schigger friiger show, wave twister)Way more purest and is more to be apreciated by turntableist crowd who just watch or listen with dropped jaws thinking WTF,that shit is hella dope RIP ROC RAIDA PEACE
(I was there) ISP definitely won, it was a home game. BUT X-Ecutioners got mad respect and love. The height of the night was the team battle: all ISP and X-Men team-battling the same time on 6 turntables. ISP dropped what (I believe was the first time) the Too Short Biatch scratch... hometown (Bay) lost. their. minds.
Well if you're 'back in the day' like me, competing is about battling - not mixtapes (you can embellish your skill in a tape) Hence the appreciation us oldies have for these videos. To juxtapose, the Piklz's level of scratching at this time was far and away on a more advanced level than the X-Mens juggling. I would contend that Babu would be someone worth citing for beat juggling at this period.
Xmen won the individual battles mostly due to Roc Raida... even though Qbert held his own. ISP definitely took the team battle but the Xmen weren't too far behind... just not as fluid and polished. Raida, with his facial expressions and stares is just too raw in those battle sets. MM Mike didn't seem battle-worthy on the individual tip.
@SatoKlan agreed but many turntablists agree that scratching gets the crowds going but those in the no ie the djs/turntablists and not the fans, you no the proper geeks like me have more respect for the beat juggling. not seen Q or mike do anything like robswifts biz routine or his terrordome routine. agreed the x-men cant scratch aswell. but only shortkut can beat juggle like the 3 x-men. i think there is more technique in beat juggling. showmanship goes to Q for his jimi henrix type solos
Babu's the man but he only had maybe 1-2 juggles classic juggles in 96 and he didn't bust out blind alley for another year. X-men had probably twice as many classics each at that point. Even tho Piklz scratching may have been more ahead of their time, X-men were still the best at juggling in 96 and I think it's selling them short to suggest otherwise. If you made a list of the top beat juggles up to 96, X-men probably make up 75%+ of that, w/ Shortkut 2nd most, and maybe Babu/Total E.
Two groups from different coasts with different styles. Showmanship clearly goes to the X men. Technique goes to ISP. If you want to know who won this battle, play the videos again and this time just listen. All that twisting and turning and pointing at the other crew doesn't make it sound any better.
I like your comment BUT your wrong! Its a stage show & although I agree technically ISP are better in some respects, Raida was a showman 7 truly spoke to the competition thru his artform due to his use of samples and precision control of the sample! But also kept the crowd entertained! Sinista is like his protege & Rob Swift just oozes flava! But the top comment kills it "There was no official decision, HIP HOP WON"
come on.Xmen didnt take this shit.Look,Xmen are fucking sick, they have members who were juggling before most menmbers of isp had their 1200's.BUT without there massive NY swagger their routines were just hella sick juggling routines.BUT as pure turntableists the ISP owned them.Cool ass "watch what I can do ,AND U CANT"attiude.Mike was on some shit back in those days
I love both djs but damn shortkut's drumming was epic love how he ended the track! Sick moment in time!
correction
RIP GRAND MASTER ROC RAIDA
xmen ! flow, hip hop ! ..... 20 years on XMEN still look hip hop,, longlastin !
I've the feeling Xmen edged this battle mainly due to Roc Raida. His beat juggling and general all round showmanship is incredibly entertaining.
These guys are the best. this is the reason i love turntable music.
Thanks for uploading these videos. Amazing stuff

I think both crews were on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
once dstyles joined the crew they were untouchable but too busy touring to battle. all djs here are still on top of the game.
ITF battles always came sick back then
the fuck compton scheme was dope...
3rd video in the battle and in 2021 and some Djs on here still don't understand how far advanced ISP was on techniques.
R.I.P Roc Raider. Props to all the D.Js

Q's expression at 5:40 is priceless.
Who are the judges of this competition
@hoyitsjoe I'm sure if you watch all three videos you can make a pretty good guess.

mroboiz LoL... coward! Mr. O boiz. More like Mr. Soyboi.
shortkut seemed to get stronger as the battle progressed
LL Cool J is hard as hell

the scratch perverts was the only crew that could fuck wit ISP.

Isp does that fast out space scratching that aint gonna beat the x men.

@TurntableStories haha, ive been trying to find out who OFFICIALLY won this battle. I'm for ISP.
*7 should be &, my bad.
Oh dear, shows what you know.
ooo yeah! :) well done
shortkut is the illest man on the stabs .period
All isp do is scratch. I see no showmanship. No dexterity. Qbert literally puts on a track and scratches through it. You gotta show me more.
Monster dj. Mix noise.
Shortcut really faaaaast
Hell yeah! Without Raida they would of gotten crushed!
even the xmen knew who took the L.
i think isp
It was all bout the scratch not the body tricks.
Xmen destroyed ISP
Q Bert alone destroyed them all
you have no idea what you on about boy
Q Is GOD
I love the x-men... but I must agree... ISP robbed that one:)
After watching all 3 vids I say X men took this shit!
come on.Xmen didnt take this shit.Look,Xmen are fucking sick, they have members who were juggling before most menmbers of isp had their 1200's.BUT without there massive NY swagger their routines were just hella sick juggling routines.BUT as pure turntableists the ISP owned them.Cool ass "watch what I can do ,AND U CANT"attiude.Mike was on some shit back in those days
