Isles ran 10.3 during the off-season 2 years ago and I've seen him burn Davids a few times on a pitch. Plus 4.71 on a muddy field translates to about 4.5 high to 4.6 on a dry one.. Still 4.68 on grass by Davids is still blazing. Anything under 4.8 is really fast

Hand timing was for the coach. He still went through the laser timers. He ran on a muddy pitch so I wouldn't call it fair. He would be about 0.1 sec faster on a dry pitch in sunny weather. So he's capable of low 4.6 or high 4.5s..
He didn't run down Senatla. Senatla gassed him so bad last year.🤣🤣. Volmink, Mapimpi, and Grant Williams in that order at the Sharks over 40m and they're all in the 4.5s..

This is a total waste of time. Unless the timing protocols and surface are identical, it's not worth doing... Timing from first movement v starting a metre behind the line and the timer being activated when you run through it will make a colossal difference.

I disagree. The point of this video is getting as much social media footprint as reasonably possible. Having a controversial point increases the likelihood of people commenting and thus improving the algorithm of the video. It would be smart to keep making the playing field uneven so that engagement with comments/likes is higher.

So I think based on 100m times Tree Williams should be considered to be the fastest rugby player in history. But that is only based on the stats I know. Maybe there is faster stats out there?
Angelo ran a 10.20s 100m at MTBS Interschools athletics in his matric year and beat the events previous record. I was there, in the same school as Angelo but 5 grades below him. Specifically remember this as it's the fastest I've ever seen anybody move

I tried finding a recording or report of it now, but in the 5ish min I spent googling I didn't find anything. Keep in mind this was an entirely school-run event, so I'd guess they were using stop watches and not anything as precise as lasers so there is likely some human error in there (which in the case of a sprint time makes the biggest difference), but I remember the 10.20s on the LED board as if it was yesterday, as well as the incredible speed with which he accelerated off the starting line, as at that point I'd only seen him play 15 man rugby for the first team a few times. He was still incredibly impressive then, but the 100m sprint really blew my mind.
They have to be in the same condition. Also it seems like Carlin is not at his peak and Angelo is much closer to his peak. I'd rather compare apples and oranges than these two greats.

Carlin Isles has not been training with USA 7s for a while and who knows if his training has been as grueling and consistent as before while Angelo Davids has been training non stop with the SA 7s and Stormers. I knew he was gonna smoke Isles. Why Isles decided to step away from 7s I have no idea.

I ran something silly like 1.2-1.4 for the 10m when I was a high schooler. It was faster than Usain bolts opening 10m split which I thought was funny considering I was just running barefoot on grass in probably 35 degree heat. But it was all hand timed so i'm going to add on 250 ms and say I was probably more like 1.45 - 1.65 seconds. I reckon I would have kept up with these two. Why god gave me incredible athletic genes but zero work-ethic and determination I'll never know 💅
