Had the same issue today: no response to buttons, however, you could inject an usb flash driver and somehow it was starting playback... By a pure chance noticed "rev" button been jammed, so i thought maybe i've hit the device accidently. But now i see you have the same problem with a "ffwd" button, so might be a design issue with this model after all.
You have to hold the power button down.

The FFWD button can clearly been seen depressed & stuck.....did you try releasing it?

Obviously you need to press and hold the power key, as otherwise its just Mute as it clearly says :S

Yes and pulled out all power and then worked. power button broke again so use the remote instead!
