I was so nervous during my test I said “ ok I’m going to raise the bed of your head” the evaluator was laughing. Also when I was about to take my partners pulse I was soo nervous I was shaking when I was putting my watch on and also I put it on my right hand instead of my left. Lmaoo 😩 so happy Im done worrying about this.
At work and the level of professionalism you exude with a bright smile almost left me unconscious I have never seem charcoal grey look good. My blood pressure came back normal because I can see without being there such goodness like a cookie dough. Challenges are met by hope because of a real soldier.
So I am just a bit confused. Im testing in Minnesota this month and during your Peri Care video, you said that you don't need to have the mannequin test the water in that video but you need to have them test it in this video? Im just trying to clarify so I don't miss anything.
Hi, Stacey! This is an older video. My updated video correlates with the 2018 NNAAP updates. You no longer have to stick the mannequin's hand in the water. You need only to instruct the mannequin to test the water. The NAE will speak for the mannequin.
I love your video. Very clear and very informative. Thank you. Anyway, I have a question; In a State Test on "Catheter Care"; if I PUT the LINEN PROTECTOR under the resident by LIFTING UP her buttock (NOT BY TURNING HER INTO THE OTHER SIDE); is it still necessary to lift the bed side rail?? Looking forward to hear back from you. Thank you Ms Julie.
Hi, Rini! Thank you! The only time you need to raise the side rail is if you are turning the client away from you. You do not need to raise the side rail if you have the client to raise their hips.
I’m testing on Friday, when entering a room is it okay to introduce yourself, explain, say that you’re gonna wash your hands, and then provide the curtain for privacy?
Hi, Kate! Yes, it is. But, it's best to do it in logical order, i.e., (1)Address resident by name, (2) Introduce self by name & title, (3) Explain procedure, (4) Safety check [bed low & locked and call light within reach), (5) Provide privacy, (6) verbalize washing hands and go gather supplies. It flows more smoothly when performed in a logical order. Let me know how you do. What state will you be testing in?
Hi Ms.Julie I have two questions are we being tested on body mechanics? And is it ok if I leave bed down the whole time even if I do need to raise bed is it gonna hurt me during skill exam if I leave bed down whole time?
Hi, Alexis! Good question! If you are testing under Pearson Vue, body mechanics is not emphasized/scored. So, if you'd rather not raise the height of the bed, you don't have to! But, if you do, just remember to lower it before stating, "skill complete".
Hello. I was wondering if you knew about the 2020 handbook. It says to hold at the meatus without tugging? Is that correct or would you still not touch it.
With this skill I was taught to have the resident raise her knees with feet flat on the bed and clean the catheter that way. Is that a correct way to do it ?
No. The only 2 (two) skills that require you to empty the contents and rinse into the toilet are "Assists With Use Of Bedpan" and "Measures & Records Urinary Output".
Hi Mrs Julie. Thank you so much for all your great videos. I will be taking my test on Wednesday 18th March. Am more confident that I will pass after watching all your videos. I will come back to share my result. Thanks a lot

Hi, Garcia! For testing, because the skills that require placement of a linen protector ( Peri-Care and Catheter Care) are performed on a mannequin, the candidate may either lift the mannequins hips to place the linen protector, or he or she may turn the mannequin on its side to place it. Just remember to raise the side rail if you choose to turn the mannequin on its side to place the linen protector. If you are asking in regards to real life, if the person is able to raise their hips, you may have them to do so. You want to think about the residents condition and their abilities and limitations, and what type of staff assistance he or she may require. Hope I answered your question!

hi Julie great video do u have a video of hand washing i doing a retake on monday i been having trouble w this examiner i keep getting her and she fail u for no reason a lot of test taker been having problems w her so i hope i don't get her monday :'(
Hi, Jennifer! First, good luck on your retake! Unfortunately, I have not made a video on hand washing, yet. The most important thing to remember is to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, then clean your fingernails. If you clean your fingernails before the 20 seconds you will automatically fail this skill. Remember to take off any rings, watches, and/or bracelets before performing this skill. I strongly advise my students not to wear any jewelry on the day of testing, and for them to carry their watch with second hand in their pocket. Try singing to yourself the "ABC" song or the "Happy Birthday" song twice slowly while washing your hands. This will give you more than the 20 seconds required. But, you have to sing the song slowly!!! If you accidently touch the insides of the sink, let the Evaluator know so you can restart this skill from the beginning. REMEMBER: You can always make self-corrections as long as you have time remaining and you have not verbalized, "Skill Complete". Hope this was helpful.
Hi, Sha'Kara! Not quite sure what you mean by "in 3s" or "in 2s"! For this skill and any other water skill with which you use the bath basin and/or emesis basin, you must empty, rinse, and dry the basin.
@@NURSEJAR Sorry, I mean when you wash down the catheter and switch sides of the cloth are you supposed to do that three times? I saw in the video you washed the catheter with one side of cloth then turned the cloth and washed again and then changed cloths and did the same with rinsing.
