Great song and amazing voice. I got the album when it first came out back in the day. I think this is better than the Annie Lennox version. Thanks very much for posting this
I had no idea this video existed, and it's quite a curiosity given the epic production of the record and the tortured lyrics. Whoever thought it would work to mime to the recording with a couple of acoustic guitars and to giggle and smirk through the performance must have been bonkers.
I cannot stop watching this. Like many I didn't know the Annie Lennox version wasn't the original. Haunting song and absolutely genius. Does anyone know what David Freeman does now?
I found Annie’s cover first, and it’s great that she brought recognition to this song. That said, as is usually the case, the original version is superior.
If only David Freeman and Annie Lennox could release this song as a duet. As the two bands had toured together, strange it didn't happen...or maybe it did but with no recording. :(
@@dr.darkroom I just don't understand your rant here. I've only asked that due to the fact that I happen to have Spotify premium and would love to listen to them on a train, add selected songs to one of my playlists or for whatever other trivial reason.
The Lover Speaks supported The Eurythmics on their 1986 tour. This original did not have the chart/commercial success it deserved, so with all that in mind Annie Lennox decided to include this song in her covers album, Medusa, but with an electronic backing and altered vocal arrangement. All other things considered, kudos to Lennox for giving this song the exposure and commercial success it deserved back in the day.
This can’t be from 1987? Annie Lennox released her version in 1993. According to Amazon music she wrote it with Dave Stewart? Did she write it for Lover Speaks first?
The most heart wrenching song of modern times... absolute and beautiful perfection. After all, the Lover Speaks......❤❤❤❤
Use to work in a record shop and someone wanted the song called " Norman I love you " took me ages to work it out 😅😅😅
😂😂
Great great song.
"Norman I love you" I couldn't find it
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
😂😂😂 That's crazy. Just listen, it's clearly "Norma I love you" 😂😂😂
I've still got the original cassette. The cd. I never tire of this Brillance !
David freeman what a voice they should have massive
And a Great Songwriter
They both did alright out of this when Annie Lennox took it to number 2 15 years later but in many ways I prefer their version.
Why wasn’t this song more popular? Annie Lennox obviously realised it was a classic and her re-recording became one of her best known hits.
All that epic grandiose production & there they are with their unplugged/unmic'd acoustic guitars miming! Superb!
Brilliant song, great album.
For the hearts broken this bittersweet tune heals with a sting.
Why don't find this on Spotify?
This was David Freemans song originally, and Annie Lennox performed this song 10 years later!
And Nicki Minaj used bits of it in her pretty cool song "Your love"!
Wonderful song !!!! ❤
What a beautiful boy, David Freeman.
Always thought that was Annies. Copied it almost perfectly. This is the true original. Original is ALWAYS better.
Great song and amazing voice. I got the album when it first came out back in the day. I think this is better than the Annie Lennox version. Thanks very much for posting this
What an amazing voice. Wish they would have done more.
I desire you my absent one 💓
Great underrated very rarely played track 👍🏻
Wonderful

Wow, this is beautiful 😍
❤Parfait 👍, pour toujours, avec votre voix et écoutant cette chanson ; j’ai le sentiment de la vie et de la jeunesse ❤🌹🙏🏻
This should have a trillion views!
Got the original 12” on vinyl,Classic track for me
Thanks a lot! It's a dream come true seeing them "live"

I just discovered this five minutes ago - can't believe it! Makes it a hundred times better!
I love this song so much and it is honestly one of my favourite songs ever 😀😀😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰😘🥰😍😀😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😊😊😊☺️☺️
An absolute hauntingly beautiful song and they are put in front of an audience to essentially mime to their own backing track. Amazing!
Omg! Where did you get his footage. Fellow pnl students, we used to follow them around North London!
This song is grand!
I found Annie’s cover first, and it’s great that she brought recognition to this song. That said, as is usually the case, the original version is superior.
Lovely memories!
Omg I never knew this song was a cover ❤
Pretty rare, never saw them live before with this great song.
and i always thought it was annie lennox,s song. beautiful
David Freeman and Joseph Hughes
awesome footage, thanks for sharing!!
Wow so good to see this!

We can only pray
That wouldn't improve the original
That would've been solid gold!
It doesn't have to. dafuq
👏👏👏Thank you so much for posting this, I’d only ever seen the video to it! I love this song & the whole album, beautiful lyrics throughout🤍🤍🤍
He looks like Henry Caville
Original has soul, it is so much better than Annie Lennox's vocal gymnastic cover.
Nossa nunca tinha visto esse clipe 😮 deles sem ser o clipe
I wish glenis grace would cover this song.
So live it's indistinguishable from the studio version.
They’re lip-syncing.
No mic no amp hmmm
Why aren't they on Spotify?
Because Spotify is shite.
Spotify isn't the measuring stick for anything whatsoever

Today was looking for them on Spotify 😢
Prefer this to the Annie Lennox version, really incredible song
Me too
Not for me.
The best and original...
His voice is ridiculous ❤
surely your mother sings better

Why is this way better than a Lennox’s ?! Prob cuz now I can blast this song singing it without it being a female song lol !!! #💛80s
wtf
Because it’s the original version by the guys who wrote and recorded it…..
I wonder if there is actual live footage of them anywhere.
Would have been better if this was actually live with a band and the female vocals
A truly fantastic song...and a terrible mime.
Bowie-esque
I thought Annie Lennox wrote this!
great song. But why do they lip sync on stage to a studio recorded track? weird weird weird
As oppose to not singing , not moving his mouth ? 😂🙃
Patrícia Bernardino
Well well well. So Annie stole the
exact same vocal histrionics from this dude! I thought she was creative but her vocals are almost an exact copy

@@SJ-tk4ri She definitely improves on the original. Both are good but her version takes it to a new level.
I think what this is the problem when you created. And some one else come to take easy
Is he lip synching?
yes 😞
Lip sync :/

This is the original 😎
