thanks for getting to the point and not wasting my time on where you bought your tools, where you bought your car, what you're dogs' name is or cats running around as in so many other videos.
I see you have some kinda custom air intake that allows you a clear look at the top bolt to the starter. However if car is stock it’s a little more hidden. Other vids say to take off the air intake and throttle body but I was able to loosen the top bolt using a couple of wobble extensions tipped with the 13mm socket. Worked like a charm. Once it’s almost out you can work your hand underneath and remote the bolt manually and you can start the bolt manually when you’re installing the new starter as well. No need to remove intake or throttle body.
i was able to get both the bottom and top bolts with just a 13m ratchet wrench and a breaker bar for the bottom bolt. now im stuck cause theres more than just those 2 bolts, i got some wires either attached to the front of it for support or actually plugged into it idk but its infuriating to find nothing about it when i look it up. i assume its just a support structure and not critical to the starter but i cant be sure.
@@ArchesMechanic no before. Trying to figure out whats wrong with my car. The battery is reading over 12 volts. Both terminals are cleaned and tight. All interior stuff and headlights work well. But i get the tink sound at the starter when i turn the key
@@ArchesMechanic the starter is definitely rusted in appearance. The battery reads fine and will start my Subaru. But the Subaru battery still wont start the focus
My. Problem. Is my nut for ac lines with the bracket it’s a round nut from factory so I don’t know how to get off I tried to use I size 13 mm and. Does not work unless I can bypass it ?
Can anyone tell me what the dimensions for the top starter bolt is mine came loose while someone else had it and is missing. They threaded in a 3/8 but that fits to loose and I can't get a 1.5 like the bottom one is to tread in. I'm stuck please help.
I see you have a custom air intake, as Ziggy stated. Did you make a video on that? I would love to have my "Lifetime" air filter replaced with something that is actually serviceable.
Why ask a fuquin stupid question 🤔 A fuquin Auto parts store. There probably 10million auto parts stores....Take-A-Pick !! Just put it in a shop. You shouldn't be around tools.
I have a ford focus 2.3 wagon model. it is a tight fit but the worst part for me is all the rust im from ny it wont be fun when and if it comes time to change it out. im happy though that I work at a shop and have access to a lift bc it is better then doing it on ramps
I feel yeah I have the 2.3 as well in the wagon model it is tough with the ps lines in the way but doable it can be done it went in and it can come out. focus tech since 2004
This isn't informative at all. You have a custom set up. You go from showing the battery to showing some arbitrary cable that you don't specify where it is. You don't even specific where the starter is from looking into the hood. You presume that people just know automatically. I get you are trying to be informative, but this isn't it.

I try to just get to the point of the video. That’s what I’m here for! I’m here for information!
My starter just went, this is the first video I watched LOOKING for my starter because I couldn’t find it 😂, awesome vid !
Quick and easy. Nice clear video. Note to DIY peeps.... Make sure the starter has the weather strip foam gasket attached or provided.
You, sir, are the man. Thanks Arches Mechanic!
Ben Botto very welcome.
Super simple video thanks man. I wonder why 20 people gave you thumbs down. Trippin
Because he didn't show anyone on how to take the bolts off. He really didn't show much at all except telling you bolt size and what to take out.
How did you get the plug off? I can't get mine off...
What tool do you use on the upper right 13 mil bolt on the three bolts, I used a ratchet and a socket and I don’t have enough room
Aaron Lusher universal joint I beleive
Yeah , the jerk off doesn’t show that part , he edits the real stuff you need to know

all you have to do is remove the plastic snow cone as people call it that covers the throttle cables hope this helps zigman

What wires go where? The engine won't stop starting now. How do you hook up the wires. I couldn't see how they came off
you are not very smart!
the harness only goes on and off one way really cant mess it up. there are 3 bolts but only 2 come off but they come off with the harness
Was this the main reason for bad start in combination with the battery wire or do you think it was mostly the battery wire
This was just informational. Mine actually didn’t need replaced.
@@ArchesMechanic That’s cool, I’m glad you had a 2005 Ford focus!
Mine makes the tink sound when i turn the key. Tried tapping it but no luck
Dougie Backus after replacement?

@@ArchesMechanic the car has been sitting cuz i drive the Subaru the most in the winter.
Dougie Backus weak battery? I would check that first. Second it could have rusted shut if it was humid a lot

Hmm. Not sure why that is.
It's a torque screw: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torx
you only have to pull the neg but yeah I guess you can pull both as long as you pull neg first. ford tech since 2004
Any significant difference on a 2007?
My solenoid isn't kicking out anymore.
Robert Franz should be the same as long as it’s the 2.0
My starter doesn't come out the easy any suggestions I took off all the bolts
AlienInfamous lots of wiggling. May be stuck on with rust depending on where you’re from

DRockOVich says m10-1.5
DRockOVich you might have to re-tap the whole.

I’ll be honest, I don’t remember this car. I’m pretty sure it was stock.
@@ArchesMechanic Thanks!
it is the same for a 2.3 ?
James McCloud not sure. Sorry
@TumTuned great news
yes
Thanks man u made it easier
Thank you
We aren't all professional mechanics. It would be helpful to explain where things are and whether you are above the engine or undernaeth it.
David M I’m getting better
What tools did you need
UFC - ULTIMATE FIGHTING CLIPS 2 a few sockets and box end wrenches from 8mm-15mm
Ahhh so I do have to replace it from underneath the car...
Where can I get a starter
Online or any parts house should have one in stock

shop rite LOL are you kidding me rock auto partsgeek or go in person napa or oreilly if you have to ask then dont work on your own car
I’m sorry no it’s not easy to remove starter from all that wires and ac tubing for a 2.3 liter size engine!!
Good thing this one was the 2.0 ;)
