    i know you record these well in advance.. but i wouldnt think any less of you if this is finally the level where the berries are too much. i think getting all 5 berries is the hardest or 2nd hardest thing in expert lobby?
    havent watched the video yet btw so idk if u addressed it in this

      well, if I were to predict I will say mosaic garden b2 should be more troublesome for him, since that one easily mess up with new players. we will see.

      Yeah, that last berry was hell to get!

      I thought he skipped a berry or something when I saw the video description, turns out the denied thing is for the mutual exclusive normal/berry room.

    This level is pretty funny in general, tho some people can find it finicky and slightly annoying, I'd put it in a group that encapsulates yellow experts pretty well; not the best in the lobby but still pretty good map
    Kaerra, the mapmaker (and composer of this and other banger themes such as caper cavortion's) does like to make maps with these weird and somewhat polarizing gimmicks
    And yeah it's also funny how people who full clear it skip like 30% of the rooms so if they come back to silver it they have to learn new rooms they've never seen

      i find this map to be the absolute worst in sj (except for one i really hate in Grandmaster), the mechanic itself is cool but the map just kinda degrades to really awkward tech spam and awkward turnarounds

      @@poorlydrawncactus1178 this map for me, even if it's the second one that took me longest to clear (right before lsd map) for some reason I never really got upset or tilted about it, even the 2f on b5 eventually got less horrid somehow

    Fun fact about this level: The composer is also the mapper!
    It's also, unfortunately, not one of my favorites. Like you so far (halfway through the video) I'm not a huge fan of how imprecise this level FEELS, even though a more specific kind of precision is what it demands. Also the berries are borderline unfair.
    It's still a cool level. It's just rough.
    Edit: 17:00 "Failed Wavedash" spotted! That's an actual thing that people sometimes make you do...I don't remember if they show up in SJ and I'm also not entirely sure that's exactly what you're doing but it's just another example of wacky Celeste tech!

      They do show up, in a certain red GM level... 💀

      I think celeste bad ending has intentional fypers yeah

      @@Vayhef Is it a certain level modeled after a vanilla chapter? It's the only red GM level (besides cracked) that I haven't finished. It's...wicked.
      Edit: "Celeste bad ending" hahahaha fair enough.

    12:18 Do you actually use fixed point in your own game? Or did you mean “I don't like it but I still have to use it?”

    • @adiener
      @adiener  3 дня назад +3

      Sometimes! I've gone back and forth across different projects, weighing the pros and cons of both. Leaf's Odyssey doesn't need anything other than integers for its logic, but in other game projects I've worked on where arbitrary fractions are involved, I do try to stick to fixed point for anything involved in game logic. Floating point numbers are fine for graphics, but last time I used them as part of gameplay-affecting calculations, I got different results across different platforms, meaning that a sequence of inputs recorded on one computer would sometimes desync with played back on another.

    • @ChlorieHCl
      @ChlorieHCl 3 дня назад

      @@adiener I wonder what's the cause of the desync, fast FP math optimization or somehow non-IEEE-754 compliant device or something else? Celeste uses FP math everywhere and it leads to weird quirks with TASes but AFAIK it should be consistent across platforms.

    ok this is kinda embarassing to admit, but this is actually the expert level I have the most deaths in ( expect the heartside ofc). Granted, there were some levels where I did some *light* cheating on, but like, this level is absolutely hell 😭especially the berries
