- II can't believe I'm actually writing this description, this golden felt like a pipe dream for so long. So many things went right in this run, I pulled off an absolutely ridiculous 20+ minute long save in flag 4 without ever practicing it before, and it all happened on New Year's Day?! What a way to start 2024. (I took 2 days to edit this video)
This map has one of the weirdest difficulty spreads in any golden, especially for a high tier golden. Flags 15, 12, 10, 7, 2, and to a lesser extent 6, were the bane of my existence, with flag 7 being by far the hardest. On the other hand, flags 17, 11, 8, and 3 were nearly free. All of the free/not free flags were spread mostly evenly throughout the map, which makes this golden a very unique experience.
And of course, here are the stats:
Time: 138:13:59.555 in my post-release save file, but I had a bunch of extra time during development as well. I think my save file was around 100 hours, but it was lost multiple times so I don't know the exact number. It's complicated further because I think a lot of that time was because Celeste was open in the background while I was mapmaking, so that shouldn't count toward my playing time.
Deaths: 17683, but again this is only counting my post-release file. I had over 10k in my dev file.
Total golden attempts: 1665 (only counting after I started using consistency tracker)

When building a railgun out of jellyfish isn't the most impressive part of the run, you know you've done something monumental. Incredibly cool to finally see this goldened, massive GGs and thank you for liking this map enough to see it through to the end.

Was the railgun the actual way to complete that part or was there some other solution to that part?

Celeste genuinely reached the apotheosis with this. Ecl1psed, we watched you so many times, we followed your progress so much time... Your 1st f7 entry, your almost 20 f7 death without passing it, and finally the run that died at the 1st move of f6, the death f5, we were all shocked when you got the f2 entry once, and twice. You never gave up, you kept focus for this golden, and you finally did it, we are so proud of you, thank you very much!!!
Not even 3 months later, the first sub 25 minute speedrun was accomplished.

@@alejandrobello7005It's hard to compare things like these, but I would say this is harder. There is no point during my run that has any level of precision needed that's even close to the easiest room in this level. Though the length makes it much harder to get runs done.
This will forever be the craziest save in celeste history. Learning a backup strategy near the end of a very long golden in a grandmaster input density techspam room after watching a video of it on youtube and THEN DESPITE ALL OF THAT GETTING THE GOLDEN. Also seeing you freak out in chat was both funny and nerve wracking, even though I was watching the vod and I knew this was the run. This is amazing. And of course you end it by first trying the frame perfect heart ultra. Of course.

In all seriousness, this is the most insane Celeste achievement I have ever seen. I’ve dreamed of being this good at Celeste, but I don’t think it’s possible for me 😂 Regardless, congratulations on this legendary accomplishment!!!
I do not believe that it is statistically possible to get every golden strawberry without using assist mode, or cheating in some way. I kinda think that Maddy Thorson was trolling us by putting these strawberries in the game, and having no way to tell if someone is using assist mode just by looking at the screen footage. I think she knows full well that it's impossible, and the whole thing is little more than a social experiment to see how many people will cheat and then try to pass their work off as legitimate. There is no achievement or reward for getting these strawberries. You don't unlock a special ending where Theo chips a tooth on the gold strawberries in your pie. You do get a stamp of a gold strawberry on your save file if you succeed in getting all 25 gold strawberries. But PC players have already learned to hack their save slot to manipulate these stamps - including removing the assist stamp.

Every time I see the ending to gmhs I get chills. Watching you succeed gave me those same chills and caused me to cry a little. Congrats! This was one of the wildest things I’ve witnessed.

out of all the goldens i've seen since actively watching celeste again, this was the one that i was wondering when it'd happen. lo and behold, it actually happened!
the many times i watched GMHS, i never thought that someone would ultimately pull through and conquer this seemingly inconquerable mountain, and that flag 4 save is simply a showcase of mastery.

I never doubted that this would ever be done. Firstly cuz the celeste community is insane, secondly cuz I really underestimated how hard this map is.

At the end of 2023, my favourite golden was Leviathan’s Rehearsal+ by WoahEgg. But now, I think I’ve found a new one lol. This is a historic golden, a very prestigious one, I think it’s fitting that it was obtained by the person who provided the gameplay for the official GMHS video, hahaha. this was the map I hoped someone would golden the most, so I was much more invested in progress on this golden than any other t0/t1. Wasn't there for the winning attempt, but it was pretty cool sitting in your streams to watch the grind happen live.

Huge GGs, man. I have never played celeste so far, but I have seen many times how community creates crazy stuff and goldens it. I remember seeing your gmhs speedrun and I thought this is crazy, but watching your gmhsg feels like heaven was ascended by human. That astounding f4 save was so smart and unreal to me, because watching this gameplay makes me feel like there's no way to save your run after failing the strat. 2024 is already a celeste year!😊 Once again, Massive GGs❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Gmhs golden was never MEANT to be possible. It was put there as a RUSE. Maya was meant to be the gatekeeper and gate keep the golden she will, consistency is a lie and on the off chance you make it past the room of despair you will surely die to Theo climb.
