@@StudentPilot4Life I'm using Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo and MFG Crosswind flight pedals. I just added the Logitech auto pilot, radio panel and one of their small screen instrument panels. I also have a triple screen setup too. My goal is a full Cessna 172 cockpit setup
What exactly is that tool that you're using at 1:59? Does it come with the mount? The connectors on my Alpha and Bravo are round and smooth and don't look like any hex bit would fit them. Thanks.
@FallacyAsPraxis - I am using a hex key allen wrench that I had from an earlier IKEA assembly. If memory serves right, it did not come with the mount but it’s a very standard piece and should be easy to get.
Thanks for your answer. I really like the idea of a G1000. I assume you really like it? I am hesitant if I should go the two touchscreens+air manager+knobster, the Flightsimbuilder G1000 or even the RSG G1000. Of course the touchscreens and Air manager route would allow more flexibility flying different aircraft and avionics but on the other hand, this looks darn amazing and realistic.
I am training for my instrument rating so the g1000 hardware helps build my muscle memory wrt the placement of controls. If I wasn’t using this for training, I would have gone with the Air Manager+Knobster setup for the flexibility and lower price point. The RSG G1000 units are very attractive. Although, a comparable setup with RSG would have cost about $800 more. I assume the RSG controls feel much more ‘premium’ but I haven’t used one yet.
Thanks for stopping by! I use X-Plane 12 for instrument training and MSFS for sightseeing. My X-Plane FPS is moot because I am mostly glued to the instruments. On MSFS, with mostly ultra settings, FPS drops to about ~45 above high density areas like Manhattan. I lower the terrain rendering detail to less than 200 when I see some choppiness.
would you say the units wobble at all when secured with the clamps under the table? I read Honeycomb adviced against this saying the screws will be too stressed and are not designed to hold the weight. What is your experience after some months of use, still working well? thanks
I hadn’t thought about this until I saw your comment. The screws are indeed quite small and I can see why Honeycomb would advise against it. But this setup has held up nicely. No issues so far.
@kennykanada These are USD 35 a piece, so about CAD 50 for one. But you have a good point, can drill holes into a scrap metal bar or even resin bar to get the job done.
@@StudentPilot4LifeThey wanted another $35US delivery! I just want to get my Bravo throttles lower like in the real life Beech Baron 58 (what I mostly fly in msfs).
@@kennykanada That’s awesome! I have been eyeing the 6 dof platform by DOFReality. Will look into the Yaw3 as well. When does your rig arrive? Would love to get a first hand review.
@@StudentPilot4LifeThat is really cool. Congratulations! I am not sure how much you know about ILS? I have problems getting the glide slope to work at LPFR in Portugal. I wonder if this a mistake I am making or maybe MSF2020 has a problem there? Whenever I turn APPR on, it wants to turn in circles?!!?
@BenalRida Thank you! I have recently started studying for instrument rating, so I am not there yet. Setting the simulator up to help with training eventually.
@johnnyalbrecht41 - Good suggestion! I fiddled with the Quest-3 and I like where VR/AR in general is going. I returned the Quest 3 because it was finicky on my setup and I didn't quite have the time to fine-tune it. I'll likely get what comes out in a year or two - hopefully it will be more plug and play than the current versions. VR/AR is super-engaging and I am excited about the prospects for flight sim!

very good setup, i like the under the desk mounts much better.
Thanks!
Love the setup, my under desk mounts will be here tomorrow!
Nice! They are pretty solid. Enjoy! Which yoke, throttle, and rudders do you use?

@@StudentPilot4Life But the G1000 is very very tempting
That’s an awesome setup! I am looking to replace my Logitech pedals… the center detent makes it almost impossible to make small corrections.
The G1000 screens are indeed very nice. They add a lot of realism to the flight!
6:45 Up/Down table action is sweet! Great setup.
Thank you!
the laptop makes it realistic because it sounds just like a real aircraft
👍 Sounds even better when using external speakers!

What tool did you use to unscrew the screws on the throttle quadrant ?
A small hex key Allen wrench. The same one works for both Alpha and Bravo. Something like this would work: a.co/d/aOL4TNQ

That adjustable table you’ve got ,what is the name of it?Or company it is from?Nice set up Sir!
@davidkitchingman2222 - Thank you! The adjustable desk is from a company called ‘Fezibo’. I bought it off of Amazon.

Great idea! But that’s over $100 each Canadian! A simple metal plate with holes drilled may do the job, and for just a few bucks.

Hey mate. Nice vid. Can you tell me where did you get the mounting bracket plates from? Were they designed by honeycomb? Can you send a link ? Thanks
@HR-313 The under-desk mount is made by FlightSimBuilder. Link is in the video description. Thanks for stopping by!

Brilliant but the shipping to the UK cost more than the mount. So it's a no go :(
Ugh… international shipping is quite expensive. Hope you find something local that serves the same purpose!
If you still haven't got one yet, I'm in the UK and used flightsimwebshop. I only bought one for the honeycomb alpha and it was £35 including delivery
Thanks for the video. Are you a real-world pilot?
Got my private pilot certificate recently!
