- What if Sam Raimi went with the original design of Green Goblin for the first Spider-Man film? #GreenGoblin #SpiderMan #WillemDafoe
An animatronic mask was created by Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. But even before casting an actor for the role Sam Raimi decided to replace it with an armored helmet.
Here is test footage of that mask:
• SPIDER-MAN Green Gobli...
• SPIDER-MAN Creating Gr...
Hearing the "can the spider man come out to play" scene in no way home is just pure nostalgia
You people are too easy to please with these lame movies. Just throw Easter eggs and references and you feel smart noticing them. Throw nostalgia in and you jump for joy like a moron child that simply could have just watched the classic films. Gag me no wonder entertainment sucks these days you fans just watch anything regardless of how good or bad it is.
True
This looks very good to me. It really gives me a glimpse and sense of what Green Goblin would have originally looked like in the original Spider-Man film and in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
They made the green goblin such a demon for spiderman 1, its effing brilliant. Its no surprise this cunning demon played by the great Willem Dafoe was spidermans greatest challenge and ultimate arch nemesis. Classic movie
I prefer the armor, because we get to really see William’s amazing performance.
We only get to see his eyes and his mouth, though his mouth is heavily obscured. If we got the animatronic mask then we could have seen him emote through it.
@@chocov1233 I’m talking about the fact that he takes the mask off.
@@TheCloudDistrictpues quizás volvería a ser humano cuando quiere con sus poderes
@@TheCloudDistrictAgreed, the Power Ranger villain mask never worked for me. It was genius letting us see Dafoe’s goblin facial expressions and giving him a purple hoodie that resembles the iconic look on top of the armor following the battle damage from the condo.
Shut up
GREEN, AM I??
Seeing this, I’m actually glad they didn’t go this route because it would have made the Norman/Goblin dynamic way less ambiguos. I actually like the idea that the Goblin was always a part of Norman’s personality which the serum enhanced.
Sort of like on the second nutty professor movie where Sherman Klump removed the genes that were Buddy Love and it wound up damaging him mentally until it turned him into a full blown vegetable/retard, with Buddy being a part of Sherman.
The company that made the animatronic Goblin mask to fit over him was uncomfortable. So the armored look we know was used instead.
Thank god
And to complicated
Thank you for going on Wikipedia like the rest of us
Willem was still a trooper though. The suit they used in the movie was also incredibly uncomfortable.
Looks accurate to comics where he should’ve physically transformed into the goblin than just mentally
No that's not how the comics work wtf ?
No, it was a mask even in the comics. It’s the Ultimate universe where he was mutated
You done such a good job on it. It’s too beautiful to look…
“THOSE EYESS!!!! THOSE EYESS!!!!! Suck” no but good job seriously. Lol.
LoL
In a perfect world we would've had Willem Dafoe in green face paint with ear and nose prosthetics for Green Goblin. That way we could see him act the hell out of the role with his expressions being visible
It would have looked really dumb.
@@figlegoThey probably could have made it work. The Spider-Man trilogy had great props, costumes, and makeup artists.
@@chocov1233The way Doc Ock's arms were moved, down to Sandman & the symbiote's effects in the next two films, they could've worked if probably given a slightly higher budget.
@@figlego It wouldn't have looked dumber than the Power Ranger costume, come on.
The original villain that became a huge part of my childhood. For me he was the 🐐
Same
GG, Sandman, Msyterio, Electro, Doc Ock and Venom are MY definitive Sinister Six
@@JakNasty69
And the villains that should compose the Sinister Six in the first place.
This one looks goofy as hell. I honestly love the the look we actually got, the mask just makes him look even less human than this somehow.
That's because the fake 3D head they put on there is way bigger than the animatronic would have been
Isn't that the point?
Shut up
Would've even great to finally get him in the famed costume
The animatronic green goblin mask looks amazing and very comic accurate
This is what I get for playing green goblin mode
This goblin looks more terrifying
Damn, that looked impressive as heck. Good job amigo
I wish we would have gotten the Goblin with the classic purple robe like in the comics. As for the mask... it could have been better, but I understand it was too difficult to make it look real
I feel like his design during the final battle of No Way Home is the closest to that design.
@@chuchuman1163 yeah, you can say that again
@@ivangibaja4070 Well, yeah because during the final battle of Spider-Man: No Way Home Green Goblin wore a shredded purple jacket over his green armor with a hood which I think could have been a reference to the classic purple robe and pointy hat he wears in the comics.
Gotta say that it looks cool so when he becomes the Goblin it's more physical than mental also in the mirror scene we could show both Norman and the Goblin alongside
armored goblin has always been my favorite
Man the can the Spider-Man come out to play hits differently
This is really well done
"We are gonna have a heck of a time!"
Stan lee said it could be anyone under the mask so I am spider-man
Yeah I can see why they changed the design I feel like it would have scary to audiences and they didn’t want that so that’s why they changed the design
The latex mask is all they needed to do and the first spiderman would of been a masterpiece
No
@@Marine_2010 oh hell yes. If you think not then that means no hero costume needs to be accurate in your opinion since the villains don't have to be.
I personally consider the first Spider-Man movie a masterpiece anyways in my opinion.
That what green goblin was actually gonna look like but it was too scary
It looks goofy
Nice job. It's very interesting seeing what could've been. Although I love the mask they went with there's still something cool about having this one to break up the profile of the suit a bit
willem dafoe face is perfect for makeup
Still better than what we got in Amazing Spider-Man 2..
I lowkey love the design for TASM2 Goblin just not the acting
Never thought I would see goblin in a gown reading a newspaper 🤣🤣😂
I think the exo suit works better because he looks like Norman there's horror element where you can't really tell who's the goblin and who's Norman so he has that unpredictability which makes him even scarier , like that scene where he sees Peter's cut arm and clocks that he's Spider-Man and he's holding a knife so you're on edge like is he going to jump peter? Is he going to follow his strategy and "go for the heart " by stabbing may infron of him it's so good
Una pena que se desperdiciara el potencial de William Dafoe para interpretar al duende verde.
En vez de mascara, algo de caracterización.
Criminally underrated
He kind of looks like a Skrull
Nahhhh bro that’s the green gremlin
The best character of spiderman willem dafoe nailed it
It's HORRIBLE I LOVE IT
Sorry Raimi, but I still loving the mask.
I doubt it is Raimi's vision for Green Goblin. However, after watching this video I am absolutely sure Willen Defoe was born to be Green Goblin.
sam raimi was probably ahead of his time, too bad cgi wasnt as advanced back then, but then again the design we got was iconic
Ngl I’d be down for a solo Green Goblin movie or 10 episode series showing things from Norman’s perspective with Tobey as the secondary character. Only if Willem Dafoe is in it though obviously. It would kinda be like Maleficent and Cruella. They could show a younger Norman Osborn building his company and tell us us the specific sacrifices he made while a deep dive in his relationship with a young Harry, and how he met his wife and what happened to her. It would also show why the General despises Norman and why the Board of Directors were so eager to get rid of him. Dafoe would be the narrator and they could digitally de-age him or find someone that his younger looks.
that is never happening lol
@@sub-zero5433 forgot about this comment… a girl can dream lmfaooo
imagine if it was more done like makeup/practical effects. you can see his big crazy smile and expressions.
Almost went on to the Pixar side and this is nostalgia I miss this movie
The original mask was way too scary
That Hulk variant Marvel logo at the beginning!
That's not a goblin, thats a Skrull!
Very glad they went with a helmet
Perfect
I feel like I was transported in a parallel universe :O
They should have made the classic suit with the mask as well.
Naw. Would’ve looked too cheesy
I dont give a shit i would have been all for that
Hell nah.. the militarized look is the way to go and we were so close to getting the more intimidating mask that had the moving face plate and I'm not talking about the "original goblin mask"
@@aaromotivestudio3869 And the one they used in the movie didn’t?
They should at least used this for spiderman no way home
was this put over an existing trailer? cause its exactly how a trailer would look back then
I NEED VIDEO LONG OF GREEN GOBLIN 😮😮
Damn...not bad with the editing
So Sam Ramiro’s old Spider-Man from old project
Sorry to be that guy but it's Rami.
Why does green goblin face looks like a troll
.Green Goblin Come to The Future in No Way Home Stories 2021.
Brutal bro saludos 💥🕷️🕸️
Much better than the one they used.
I think you should add a little bit of purple to match his head
" No thanks 👍 " 😂
I wonder what Doc Ock look like on Sam Raimi Original Doc Ock in Spiderman 2 movie
Did you make this?
Looks amazing!
Looks like a max steel villain, thanks the one above all they didn't used that thing
I wanna see this get improved so it can be a full movie edit now
I actually prefer the armor
I had to laugh bro xD
You should have recolors his costume with more purple while you were at it.
Cool
So glad they used willems face and not this cgi protestic mask. When u get a amazing actor its a sin if u dont utilize them!!!
If they used this style then they should have also changed the costume but I prefer the armour as it’s what I grew up with when watching the raimi-verse spider-man films
It was unique thinking, but never would have worked in live-action. The GG outfit was always a head-to-toe suit until Ultimate Spider-Man.
Nah he looks goofy 😂
Agreed
I know this going to sound unpopular, but I hate the original mask they were going to make. Yeah the depiction of Green Goblin in the comics looks awesome, but when it’s adapted to the big screen, it looks too silly
Ich liebe diese Version von Green Goblin
Why dont you try to make the original venom of spiderman 3 the animatronic??
Yes
Oh it would of worked and he almost did this mask but it was way to scary for test audiences so they removed it which sucks cause that was what I wanted to see the latex mask.
@@Aaron_Heiningerit's also because it was clearly uncomfortable to wear and it wouldn't make sense for the suit to be militarized but not the mask
@@bossmine3997 your acting like he's wearing a bulletproof outfit? It's just a flight suit nothing else. And that helmet is made of plastic. And even if it wasn't a guy with a good shot only needs to aim for the eyes or mouth cause news flash That's not metal. So no it doesn't make sense either just like the costume doesn't make sense. Now if it was a Halloween themed day he attacked them guess what then that would be a better reason to dress up and throw pumpkin bombs or make his suit look creepy and then since Spiderman is always dressed up in the same attire then oh my he'd have an excuse to do it to now. And that right there would have been better writing with minimal story set up. Then just doing cause they had to.
@@bossmine3997 and so what if the mask is uncomfortable he didn't have to even be in the suit but I do give him props for being one of few actors that did do the work despite not having to.
The goblin should have still looked like William Dafoe with slicked back hair even though he has waves in the comic books instead of a bald head as the goblin, green skin, pointy ears, short fangs, and big yellow eyes with red veins popping out his head.
So glad they just kept the design that we know today.
I am so glad they used the amor
I hope Tom Hollands green goblin looks similar to this design
Norman doesn't exist in Tom's Spider-Man. Therefore, they can't have a Green Goblin. Dunno why I decided to comment on a 10 month old comment but whatever.
@@uberrex8073 you never know he might be out there
@@uberrex8073I have a theory. Since secret wars is bringing in new marvel characters into the MCU and old ones, what if they bring in Norman Osborn from another universe into the MCU and he becomes Tom Holland's green goblin.
@@uberrex8073I personally think Norman Osborne maybe exists in the MCU but just hasn't been introduced yet but I could be wrong.
Except it would not have been this kind of unrealistic cgi so we can't really know. This looks so goofy.
Tbh... I could totally get behind that... It would've been killer either way xD
Oh fucking hell no. I'd rather keep the raimi mask because it looked more menacing. This looks like I'd actually laugh at my captor before punching him.
Diehard fans always complain about how they swapped out the goblin looking head for the armor, then you have this visualization pointing out how much worse it would have been.
He looks a bit like Eustace from Courage The Cowardly Dog.
DRACULA FLOW
it needs more shaders,
This goblin would’ve been five times more terrifying! 😱
You did great on this but honestly it wouldn't fit with the Raimiverse
You know, if we get an MCU Goblin, I'm praying they give him an organic looking face instead of a static mask or something more technological/armor based. Goblin is like Pete's joker and him being expressive is an important character trait.
Plenty of ways you can do it too, with decent writing. I mean shit, you've already got skrulls in the MCU who look like classic goblin. Just give Norman his blood disease and have him use skrull DNA to **yada yada movie science bullshit** and then he can shift between human and creepy, fucked up looking skrull. Organic goblin without him needing to wear a weirdly realistic mask like the comics.
They ODed. You can find actually set stuff with him in a prosthetic face and I liked it more then the lame green armor
Wow great effect work! However thank God they did not use this design it looks horrible.
Do original venom
This is the chi green goblin.
Terrifying
I personally like this better it’s still be cool if he had a helmet in addition
Templar song in the background
Can I ask an honest question why do people think his suit in the movie is a power ranger
While this is a cool design…I’m a little confused by the clip of Norman reading the newspaper…this edit implies that Norman just permanently looks like the goblin, but surely for this design to work it would be more of a Werewolf, Hulk, or D.I.D situation right?
Sorry to be that guy but what's D.I.D? I know you mean it as an acronym.
