OH my God I have listened to this duo LP a thousand times at least, over the many years. SO SO SO good. Every song is legendary. To me, Ella still had the most amazing silky female voices of all-time

I always feel that Ella shows the ultimate control of breath and pitch, and I love the feeling that gives to her songs. Louis is great too!

Great ..... one of my all time favourites. I've got two albums of Ella & Louis duets, every song is a gem. Cheek to Cheek, April in Paris, Under a Blanket of Blue, They all Laughed ...... every track is brilliant. Two legends and another legend, Oscar Peterson, tickling the piano

Also a London boy originally, transplanted to Crawley, Sussex aged 1, and to Canada aged 7 in '64. Ella and Satchmo were staples of Sunday afternoon jazz at home in Crawley growing up. Loved them and Sara Vaughn, Johnny Mathis, Old Blue Eyes and others all my life.

They did a whole lot of songs together over the years. Always fabulous - together & separately!! Listen to them do Summertime. Just SOOOOOO great!!! One of Louis' song with Bing Crosby, Now You Has Jazz, is a wonderful number from the movie, High Society ('56) that I just know you'd love. Maybe one of the best duets you'll ever hear is by Ella & Frank Sinatra doing The Lady Is A Tramp. Just incredible. So much wonderful music to discover between Louis & Ella. Listen to it all & ENJOY!!!

I lived in beautiful London for a few years, don’t remember a lot of fog - guess listening to Louie song & play his trumpet 🎺 & Ella singing - her beautiful voice must have chased away the deep fog of London Town!!💗🎶🎺🥰. I love London & all the beautiful people who live there 🥰☮️
Check out Oscar Peterson on the piano 💖 he was a genius & had lots of albums recorded 💗
Check out Ella & Louie’s ‘Summertime’

Not so much fog now since people don’t use coal and wood furnaces, stoves and fireplaces. Those fogs were solid and came inside of homes too.

I’m a Londoner and I can’t remember the last foggy day here mate.
In those days,in winter, everyone was burning coal thus pumping smoke into the air from 5 million chimneys, that’s why London was known to norvners as ‘the smoke’

Two of the greatest performers to ever grace any stage anywhere. Pure elegance, style, swing and gusto both. They recorded together often. Each and every single one a gem. My favorite, "Tenderly'. Better than sex, and even better, during sex. In the same ilk, or at least from the same era as Louie, just as amazing but unheralded due to her controversial nature even during the sinful, shocking '20's; Gladys Bentley. True Harlem royalty, she was a blues singer, pianist, and entertainer during the great Harlem Renaissance of the 20's and 30's. Controversial as a black, Lesbian, cross dressing rip up the stage and belt 'em out, take no prisoners headliner, backed up on stage by a chorus line of drag queens. As a larger woman, she would appear frequently garbed in signature white top hat, white tux and tails and sang 'dirty songs' that would make Mae West blush. She was barred from mainstream venues due to the restrictions on her performances. Today she would be Lizzo in drag and celebrated everywhere.
She recorded frequently and we have those recordings and she was heralded on American Masters but all we have of her on film is a late career appearance with Groucho Marx on the old "You Bet Your Life" tv program where we were lucky that she performed impromptu. It's worth a look see,
