This music and these entertainers will be remembered forever. People like Ella Fitzgerald and Louie Armstrong performed with such grace and dignity and were so multi-talented singing jazz or blues or anything in between. This was a great choice. Thanks Stephen and Harri. Loved it. 👏👏🇨🇦
Thank you so much for such a nostalgic return to my past!!! My parents raised me on the music greats of yesteryear, with my dad loving to sing with bands and groups. All our friends did the same, and many of them were musicians. Every single one of them would say that you cannot find anyone better than Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald!! I don't think any singer had a more powerful and beautiful voice than Ella, and no one can truly compare to Satchmo on the horn or singing with his characteristic amazing emotion coming through! The pairing is magical!! I had not heard this, and I just loved every minute. Thank you again so much!! I am 73 and this is such a treat from my childhood 🥰🤗❣
Oh the memories I have of this song. Both artists are so phenominal and timelessly classic. I think when God said now lets see who can I give the most talent to he said I know Ella and Louis. To have his voice and Horn abilities is mind blowing. Just looking at a picture of Louis face brings my mood right up to a 10 instantly. God Bless Harri and thanx again for another great reaction from Tx 🤠
It never ceases to amaze me how music of yesteryear the voices are so crystal clear you can understand every word…. And now you’re taking me back to the music my grandparents and I love it. Thanks, Harri❤🎉✌🏽☮️🤲🙏
Always beautiful music in all their recordings together. Their recordings go back nearly 100 years and to this day nothing compares. Thank goodness they recorded together often over many years, and we still have them with us. No music library is complete without these two artists recordings both individually and together.
No finer male/female singing combo has ever existed, nor will it. Thank you so much for reacting to this song!! My very favorite song they do is They Can't Take That Away From Me. Would love to hear your opinion!! Cheers from Virginia!
WOW, that takes me back. My first concert was Louis Armstrong I was just 5yrs old. With my babysitter Dolly and went back stage to meet him after show. As soon as he saw her he broke out a big smile and began singing "Hello Dolly". They had dated as teenagers in New Orleans. His music was a constant in our house.
The King and Queen united into this dreamy presentation. Louis with his ever present trumpet. Satchmo with his unique vocals and Ella's skatting along makes me drift back years to the hi-fi, the centre of the living room. The addition band, excellent. 💎💎 for Harri. Thanks Harri and Stephen. 👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
@@barryervin8536 Never would have guessed that Ozzie was the first to record this. Have vague memories from childhood of him doing the "Ozzie and Harriett Show". Thanks for the info.
You forgot to say "like diamonds in my ears"! Dream a little dream of me has always been one of my favorite songs. I never heard this version and I adore it! Great reaction Harri. Love from Texas and thanks for sharing!
My dad was the 1st brittish NBA player in the 50s. He played in Rochester NY with the 1st black player (Chuck Cooper.) He would take my dad to Birdland to see Etta, Ella, Dinah, ect. Lucky Bastard (RIP Pop)
I saw Ella at the Beverley Hills supper club the same week it burned down killing 168. It didn’t seem possible to me how anyone could sound that beautiful.
Great reaction and comments Harri! Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are truly legends. One of our daughters gifted us with a Ella Fitzgerald Platinum album and it is amazing! It has 60 tracks and several with Louis Armstrong including Summertime and They Can't Take That Alway From Me. Great suggestion and look forward to more Ella and Louis.
As Stevie Wonder wrote in the song "Sir Duke"....For there's Basie, Miller, Satchmo And the king of all, Sir Duke And with a voice like Ella's ringing out There's no way the band could lose
The queen and king of scat - the pioneers. Think about that impact on music history. The eventual evolution to rap - improvised tones (and then words). ❤️✌️
There is singing, there are trumpet players, but you can count on Miss Ella and Sachmo scatting together . . . nothing else is ever going to come close.
There are a number of people that are passed that I wish I could have sat and listened to them live. But having epilepsy I can't see anyone live because of the stage lights that they have now, the flashing lights would put me in a hospital. But they are truly wonderful.
The level of sultry and jazz in this song..........I want to eat a fresh slice of red velvet cake, sip a glass of wine while sitting on a balcony. Sounds weirdly specific I know lol
They made three incredible albums that cover the Great American Songbook as well as Porgy and Bess - recorded for Verve records in 1956 by the legendary producer Norman Granz. Even better are the perfect backup musicians - Oscar Peterson (piano), Herb Elis (guitar), Buddy Rich (drums) and Ray Brown (bass). Legends all!
Will you do my last song for February soon? It's "She don't know she's beautiful" by Sammy Kershaw ( it's my birthday song I let my husband Charles Twigg Jr. pick.)
but i think the vinyl records of the 50's or even 40's 'acetate' 78rpm records were Hi-Fi but people didnt have very hi-fi record players. I Say that because in the 60's there were mom-and-pop combo stereos in wooden furniture to match mom&pop's neo-colonial furniture and i thought they were Low-Fi because they were for the living room, But i Played David Bowie albums on them and they sounded as good as the modular Hi-Fi stereos in the kid's basement bedrooms with hippy posters on the walls
Thanks so much! What a treat! 1950, huh? I was born in 1950! Now do some Etta James too.
This music and these entertainers will be remembered forever. People like Ella Fitzgerald and Louie Armstrong performed with such grace and dignity and were so multi-talented singing jazz or blues or anything in between. This was a great choice. Thanks Stephen and Harri. Loved it. 👏👏🇨🇦
The musical alchemy of Ella & Louis together--- pure gold!!
Two great legends singing together. What could be better than that. Timeless music that has endured for decades.

Both of these artists were the top...just the top...how great to hear them together...
Ella is my favorite & Pops is the Father of Jazz. This gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Music doesn't come much better than the 20 odd duets between Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. The very definition of class.
My favorite duo of all time.
Oh my goodness!!!! Gravel and velvet.... Damn....
Lovely way to end my day. Thank you so much for the reaction and the smile your enjoyment brought me.
Beautiful performance from two all-time jazz legends. I also adore their version of "They Can't Take That Away From Me". Truly high class!
True Legends creating greatness.
Fabulous. Thanks for reviewing this.
Always beautiful music in all their recordings together. Their recordings go back nearly 100 years and to this day nothing compares. Thank goodness they recorded together often over many years, and we still have them with us. No music library is complete without these two artists recordings both individually and together.
And with all that greatness, the band backing them up is the Oscar Peterson Trio. Fantastic!
Beautiful Harri.
Fantastic! Thank you so much!
They were both fabulous. ❤❤❤
Mama Cass Elliot had a hit cover of this toward the end of her Mamas & Papas days. Nice pick Stephen and thanks, Harri.

That was 3-4 minutes of sheer bliss! Two of my absolute favourites together!!!😁😁😁🇬🇧
Harri, you are so right about the two legends together. Stunning! Wonderful reaction Harri. Great request Stephen

Wonderful song.
I can't help but smile when I listen to that.
I'm used to the Mama Cass version. Didn't realize how old this song is. Simply awesome
hearing Ella and Louis do it together.
This song was first recorded in 1931 by Ozzie Nelson (Ricky's dad), followed by dozens of other artists before Cass Elliot sang it.
@@barryervin8536 Never would have guessed

Fantastic I have no superlatives that can describe they're singing together wow Harry this is unbelievable thank you
You are correct! Nothing in my vocabulary can describe this. I feel it deep in my soul.
It doesn’t get much better than this. Great choice, Stephen and beautiful reaction. Harri.
Music simply doesn't get any better than Ella and Louis together. Thanks, Harri!
The only thing better than listening to Ella and Louis Armstrong together is watching Harri listening to them. His pure joy is infectious.
You forgot to say "like diamonds in my ears"! Dream a little dream of me has always been one of my favorite songs. I never heard this version and I adore it! Great reaction Harri. Love from Texas and thanks for sharing!
Stephen - I believe this is one of the most extraordinary collaborations from the Jazz period. Timeless. Splendid review, Harri.
Sweet dreams indeed!
Love this duet like water.
I first really knew this song from Mama Cass' version in the 60's.
Love this song and it's history.
You can play the Immortal Ella all night long!!! In 1950 I was 5 years old. Been listening to these two all my life.
They were magic together
Loved it, could even see the aperture on Louis Armstrong's top lip.
Oooo, you’re gonna love this one
Just caught this What a great way to start the day
Beautiful!
My dad was the 1st brittish NBA player in the 50s. He played in Rochester NY with the 1st black player (Chuck Cooper.) He would take my dad to Birdland to see Etta, Ella, Dinah, ect.
Lucky Bastard (RIP Pop)
Magnificent. And Sachmo was no shnook - he could blow. Though bebop was not his style, he was a great soloist - he could play.
This is gold. I grew up on Ella and Louis along with Lionel Hampton , Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Elvis.
I saw Ella at the Beverley Hills supper club the same week it burned down killing 168. It didn’t seem possible to me how anyone could sound that beautiful.
My all time favourite female singer of All Time, followed by Amy Lee and Roberta Flack. And Louis is also one of my all time fav performers
Magic!
Ella starting out with her scatting, we all love this.

What superlative talents!
When I was 18 or 19 two friends and I went to see Ella. One of my musical highlights. Thank you for putting this out there.
Legends!!!
As Stevie Wonder wrote in the song "Sir Duke"....For there's Basie, Miller, Satchmo And the king of all, Sir Duke And with a voice like Ella's ringing out

Something about louie armstrong's voice just makes me smile every time I hear it.
I grew up with the 50's and on up on music.
The queen and king of scat - the pioneers. Think about that impact on music history. The eventual evolution to rap - improvised tones (and then words). ❤️✌️
Gravel and Velvet!! New this Autumn on BBC23!
The look you have Harri says it all
I alway hear Louis sing Hello Dolly. Also you should hear Pearl Baily sing.
Harri, you looked sooo happy listening to this :-)
Ella Fitzgerald, my top female singer of ALL time, closely followed by Nina Simone and Billy Holiday. Sublime !😁😁🇬🇧
There is singing, there are trumpet players, but you can count on Miss Ella and Sachmo scatting together . . . nothing else is ever going to come close.
The only thing wrong with this duet is it's an hour too short...Loved it !!!
My mother would sing me bluesy, don’t worry baby music, when I was 5 or less to put me to sleep..
I first heard it in 1962.
There are a number of people that are passed that I wish I could have sat and listened to them live. But having epilepsy I can't see anyone live because of the stage lights that they have now, the flashing lights would put me in a hospital. But they are truly wonderful.
brilliant

Magnificent in fact genius, have you hears there Summertime?...
That’s how it should be done… absolute perfection! ❤️❤️❤️
Just one thing to note… it’s not
“Lou-EE” , it’s “Lou-ISS”
Dizzy Gillespie at the table with the big eyes and Ray Brown standing behind Ella...
React to Ella singing Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered. So good.
❤❤❤❤❤

Hi Mr. Harri, Never been a fan of Mr. Louis singing; Ms. Ella is Great.. ♠W.G.
It's so sad that Bing Crosby and Doris Day never collaborated. Maybe you can do a Louis/Bing collab
Ella and Louis went together electrically.
Another great take on this song was by Cass Elliot, check it out! :-)
Will you do my last song for February soon? It's "She don't know she's beautiful" by Sammy Kershaw ( it's my birthday song I let my husband Charles Twigg Jr. pick.)
A lot have songs to still be done and I am sure he will get to them There are still 2 days. ✌️
They don't make music like this anymore
but i think the vinyl records of the 50's or even 40's 'acetate' 78rpm records were Hi-Fi but people didnt have very hi-fi record players. Ella's voice didn't depend on recording fidelity
Please react We are the world cover by Chinlung Chhuak
I liked the video many times but it didn’t work? 😅
