"I hit the Mother Load" - New personal best hunt! - Coin Roll Hunting Silver Half Dollars

- Welcome back to the channel for this Halftime Production!
This is one for the record books. I've been coin roll hunting for the last seven years, with a huge focus on half dollars in the last five+. This is my all-time best hunt for finding silver half dollars.
This hunt is a small one from a quantity searched standpoint, only searching $102 in halves. But boy did we walk away with a haul of silver. These halves came from a bank that I am NOT a member of. I made some rounds on my lunch break. I tend to call ahead to multiple banks to see if its worthwhile for me to stop in. This bank I check in every couple of months to see if they have any half dollars and they've always been willing to sell me halves off their coin machine. The bank put these in the envelope at the bank and as soon as they handed to me I heard that classic silver sound. This unmistakable sound was resonating! There were clearly so many in there. 10 seconds later I recorded my initial clip walking out of the bank. And of course I couldn't wait taking a peek! Congrats, dramatic score! I gave up CRH about ten years ago after two full boxes of zero coins. Then, the other day I asked a bank teller for halves and got 8 cust-rolled rolls. In those rolls were 28 90% and 41 40%. I was stunned. Normally, I ask for halves and they have 4 and I can see right away they are nothings. That's not to say anything like that happens very often. It's all about persistence and frequency, how often you ask and get coins. Halves are just not that common any more.
THATS A GREAT HAUL!! SO FAR TO DATE MY HIGHEST HAUL IS 366 SILVERS FROM ONE CUSTOMER DUMP !

Congrats on a nice collection dump find! Scores like this are why coin hunting halves at banks is worthwhile. Just had my best find ever just a few weeks ago (268 silver halves, most were 90%).

Keep trying! It takes time. It’s been close to a couple years since I’ve found anything remotely close. January 2022 I think.
@@half_time most "luck" I've had was pulling a 1906 Indian head from my 4th penny box ever. Truth be told, I carry that cent in my wallet as a good luck charm now.

Congratulations on your silver haul. My best random bank pick up was 4 customer wrapped rolls. Ended up with 58 forty percent Kennedy halves.

Congrats! That's a hellova haul there. Unfortunately I haven't found any local banks that will give half dollars unless you have an account with them. Hope to hit a score like this some day!
Sorry to hear that. In my travels, I've learned the ones who won't and ones who will. That helps. But I'd say I don't run into the issue too much.

Finally decided to get started yesterday, tried out three credit unions I bank with near me, got one roll from one that had a 90% ender, got 15 loose from another that had 4 40%s. Not a bad first go, definitely got me hooked. Cant wait to try again so im going to try three more banks today and maybe more tomorrow!

The banks around me (south bend, Indiana) basically all say that you must have an account to get coins, or in best case, they limit you to $100. Many say that this is a federal regulation.
They're yanking your chain. They may have some rules in the company though. There are definitely banks that don't do it around me too. But I've learned which ones typically don't and I don't even try them anymore. Many still will. In some cases they're thrilled for you to take them off their hands!

Last year my bank called and said someone brought in some "big silver dollars". I figured they were Ikes. There was 8 silver eagles, and 117 Morgan's and peace dollars. I got it all for face value. They said the guy found them in his attic and someone had said they were just dollar coins so he cashed them in.
That is unreal. Just an amazing haul. And it happens exactly like that. People just don't know what they have!
Congrats on your personal best score. I know what it feels like to come across a major score. I've had quite a few big scores over the last 35 years of road trips specifically searching for halves. If you remember, I left you a comment on a video of yours about 2 years ago and mentioned my personal best. 333 silver halves. Strange that is was that number, but 333 it was. It's such a rush to look and hold at all the silver coins when finding something like that. Congratulations again. Best wishes and good luck always.

Folks do get hard-pressed for cash these days. I met an old gentleman at the bank who was gonna cash in the coins his father had from WWI service in Europe. Caught him before he could cash em in and made it worth his while

That's a great find. What banks our best to get dollar coins or 50 cent coins from? I'm having a problem finding them
Thanks for watching. I've seen it vary between branch to branch under the same bank name. Just get to know some of your local tellers and ask if they'll order you some.
couple months back my teller gave me 195 dollars in 80% silver dimes this was in canada so

Yup. I have a few branches I know that will do that for me if they have them. Saves them the money of sending it back to the fed.
Congrats! Do you just walk into banks asking if they have half dollars? And do you need to be a customer of the banks you ask?
That's exactly right. There are many I'm members of but some I'm not. Some will require you to be a member, others won't care. I personally find many don't mind if you take the half dollars of their hands because very few people want them and they get tired of counting them.
I am not a member of this particular bank I stopped at just fyi.

Lot of drug addicts steal collections from their parents and grandparents and go pawn them or cash them in at the bank.
Absolutely. Heard about something similar first hand from a former co-worker of mine.
@@half_time An employee of mine had his daughter snatch his lifetime collection of coins to pay off her meth dealer. He was distraught.
What kind of bank gives loose coins in envelopes, looks like a fake video to me 🤷
