Hunting Pennies - Customer Rolls vs Machine Rolls, Round 1
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 июн 2018
- Let's Hunt Penny rolls for wheat cents and error coins!
In this video, I'll be hunting a box of Pennies from both a bank sealed box and from customer wrapped rolls. I want to compare what the outcome is from both sets of coin rolls. I'll be hunting for Wheaties, Indian Head Pennies, cool foreign coins, copper and any error or variety cents.
I was able to find a nice amount of wheat backs in these boxes and that made the hunt a lot of fun! It was also fun getting an older teens wheatie, some foreign coins, as well as a ton of 2009 Lincoln cents.
When I hunt pennies I don't just search for Wheaties and Indian Head Pennies. I also am not just a Copper Hoarder either. I look for double dies, error coins, and other variety coins that could be hidden in the rolls. As you know - it's rare to find a super key date for any coin in circulation, so your best bet is to familiarize yourself with the error and variety coins as those are normally not as easily spotted and you can still find some GREAT FINDS out there.
Keep hunting and good luck!

Two days ago I went through $40 in customer wrap rolls of pennies and I found 16 wheat pennies, a few from the 50’s and 40’s, I found 2 1934’s and a 1919 and 1919-D, it was very cool
Customer wrapped... cause I'm old school. Put offset "E" penny in your unique finds. cool coin. Great video !!
Got my first box of pennies yesterday... It's been hard finding boxes, but I got a REALLY good condition 1996, and a 1942 canadian penny in really good condition. Yay!
It’s hard to say both boxes had great stuff in them. It’s like picking your favorite kid. Nearly impossible. Lol. Great video rob.
nice finds Rob I found 34 wheat cents in 1 box today 2 dozen of them were S Mint marked and they were machine wrapped
Wow! Amazing!
Either I’m going crazy or that was a 1912 and not a 1913
That's what I thought
Indeed
I had to screen capture and zoom in on that as well, sure does look more like a 12 then 13 to me as well. I then went and dug out one of my barely filled coin albums, it had a similarly worn 13 in it, I even took a photo of it so I could compare on-screen next to the one Rob was holding … and it is not the same. I do think it's a 12.
What does he do with all the copper pennies
He can’t melt them that’s illegal and they are only worth 1 cent
@@danielcarrera886 he might sell them for more money
My favorite coin hunter!
That foreign coin was very familiar to me here in the UK. Its a British penny. The year 2000 saw mass striking of all British coins, including the penny. So its extremely common. The backs design is based on the badge of the first Tuder king called Henry the 7th. Its also found all over the palace of Westminster. Recently, here in the UK, there was discussion about withdrawing the penny from circulation. It's so incredibly worthless now, most pennies are only used in one transaction before being thrown into a copper jar and forgotten about. Its costing the Royal Mint more than a penny to make a penny. Watch this space, the UK might follow the Canadians and ditch the humble penny from circulation. It really is so worthless nowadays. Interesting find for you Rob!
I like this way of searching. I can't get customer wrapped rolls. Thanks for sharing, Rob.
Rob, you are going to have to do this at least 10 to get fair data... Keep them coming!
Weasel 6Three I agree. I’m shooting for 10!
Hey Rob I've been hunting customer wrapped only for quite a while now. You find about the same amount as machine wrapped but with 1 HUGE difference. In customer wrapped you can often find peoples collection dumps! It's random but it does happen. Just last week I found 4 buffalo nickles in only 1 roll! Also there will be more foreign coins since the machine that wraps them will separate the foreign coins. Cool video none the less!
sgtscarab1470 I agree - when the customer wrapped rolls hit, they really hit!
Gotta give it to machine wrap just for the 1913. More interesting mint marks too.
I think customer wraps could have great potential, but during this " shortage " nope cause I finally managed to get 2 boxes from banks both customer & both searched
Thanks for these amazing videos i won 13-12 baseball game and to see another round of machine vs customer rapped yeah.
Elite Gaming congrats!!
jeez! my bank is so weird then. i get usually 1 wheat cent per every 3 rolls and occasionally 2 wheat cents per roll! i also get a heck ton of canadian pennies
I'd take a single wheat if it's a 1913 over a box of wheats with 9 wheats.
Have a Great Day My Friend!!!
You should make videos of what to look for with each type of coin. Just a thought. Great channel by the way.
I love how he just slaps the rolls it hilarious
I noticed you separate your 95/97 percent copper pennies. What do you do with them?
Keep them. In the coin hoard :3
I think the mint is sitting on a vault full of 2009 cent with future GSA sales planned to unborn collectors
that second magnetic coin was a uk one penny. they usually are cooler if you find one pre 1970 because they are as big as a half dollar.
I have a silver 90s penny without the coating like that. A friend made it for me though, they just scrapped off with their pocket knife.
Basing off if the design on the euro can't, I think it is from Germany. Germany had a similar design from the 50s-present day.
Just wondering why he said 1913 when it was a 1912🤔
I'm pretty sure it was but maybe not
No, it looked like a 1913
because people make mistakes, genius
Same
I mean don't be overconfident like that but it did kinda look like a 1912
1913! Age wins in my opinion, nice video as always
German Euro and English 1 penny. Surely looked like a 1912 wheatie to me.
The two cent euro coin is from Germany.
This is a german 2 cent coin. Around 100,000 minted. From Europe
Hay rob I like your Indian head penny I would like on but look for them.
😎
I have 4 5 gallon water jugs filled with coins that I've been saving up since i was 18 and now im 25 .... crazyyyyy it's gonna take me forever to roll them in wrappers.
Customer wrapped are interesting cause they at hit and miss like machine wrapped, but when they do really good, they have a lot of potential to be really really good
Jeffrey Davis I agree. When they hit, they destroy machine wrapped.
Hey rob good finds. I got a box of pennies today and i got 9 wheaties and an uncirculated 1959 d
Mineblox8000 very nice!
Your channel is amazing!
joseph birdsall Thanks Joseph!!
My experience has been that customer wrapped rolls are often short and searched.
I love your videos rob
Imagine if the magnetic pulls he got were from Slugs lmao
The first is germany and the second is United kingdom
I have the second one but it says "new penny", do you know what it is?
I also have 1 pfennig
@@zadenmershon2355 "New" penny appears on the british currency issued between 1971 and 1982 ( as they had switched currencies in 71 to decimal ), it changed to "one" from 1983 onwards
@@Zaph0d thanks
@@zadenmershon2355 It is a UK coin. As I recall, it was Mary Gillick doing the Queen's portrait, and was one of a billion or so circulated.
This was the first decimalised penny, when the switch from Imperial to Decimal finally happened. Hence "New Penny." Still legal tender in the UK.
Keep the old wraps ....😮😮😮
Nice finds rob

Rob I have a question, I was thinking of trying coin roll hunting but I have a problem. What do you do with the coins that aren't special. Ik to turn my nickels, dimes, and quarters at the coin machine but how about the half dollars?
Josh I Roll everything up by hand and deposit at the bank - except for pennies and sometimes nickels.
What kind of electronic microscope you use ? I'm also a collector and I need one.
samuel roy I have a link in the video description! Thanks brother!
I think that euro coin you found was German, since it appeared to have an oak design on one side of it
B.T.W., I enjoy the vids man!
euros are used in Europe. they are also used in Italy, and Spain in some cases. that penny is a pence
That second foreign coin was a one penny from Great Britain
First foreign is a 2 cent euro On “J” print so from Hamburg the second foreign is 1 penny from uk
I need to get another box of penny's my first box was good but I havnt had time to get another box and a box of penny's is a little heavier than I thought lol
I forgot Great video Rob gotta love the finds
Are you paying any extra for those boxes or do you actually just pay 50$ for 5000 cents?
49s allday. Goodvid👍
#1 from Europe
#2 from Bermuda
I'd look into that unplaced penny. Looks like an unplated planchet made it to the coin press. Could be valuable.
Fire content
The Euro Cent is from Germany. The one penny is from the UK
The euro cent is from many countries including France and Italy and a few others
I love the magnet trick
This is an amazing video!
What do you do with the cup that's full of "copper"?
Hi Rob, i am English and can tell you the one penny you found with the queens head on is British.
Rob found treasure
The one penny is from Great Britain.
Thankyou
I was watching and was like let me go looking for some in my 🐖 I found a 1926d lol
In this video, I'll be hunting a box of Pennies from both a bank sealed box and from customer wrapped rolls. I want to compare what the outcome is from both sets of coin rolls. This is Round 1!
RobFindsTreasure Round 2 is going to be better but besides that nice finds
Tyler Fletcher Yes. I have no problem with that. Just indicate which items (or all) you’d want back.
RobFindsTreasure it was aqween a lissader coin
I hate you
The 2 euro cent is from Germany because of the German leaf
hey rob love your vids
You made a comment about the low "E" in we. I noticed this same thing on another coin recently but I do not recall which coin or date it is. If anyone finds something about this coin that makes it valuable, I would like to know. I may have to go back and dig it out.
Nice
Hey Rob where did u get your magnifier set with the camera and the magnifying thing you use to see the whole set
Robin Sadie I have all the links in the video description for the things I use Robin. Please check them out. I think you’ll like the price and quality of them.
Anyone know:
What does he do with the copper cents? Melt them?
Does rewrap the junk box or dump them as is on the bank?
Gregory Berky melting is illegal but some ppl will still buy them.
Exchange them at the bank back into cash or deposit them
Now what do u do with the penny’s ?
Ftrst time being here on your channel,,,,, Do you silver hunt also ??
I gotcha like and subbed ~!~!
2 years late but... yes he does!😁
Love that magnet, just got one on eBay called fishing magnet.
2 cent is from Germany with oak branch on reverse
Iggy Reserve Iggy - I don’t want to keep you hanging. I’ll try to find some new rolls this week again. I haven’t forgot my friend!
RobFindsTreasure Don’t worry about it Rob. It’s all good. Just continue CRH 😄
It was hard to see cuz moved quick but the 74 dime you had, did it have a mint mark? It was hard to tell but if it didnt it's worth some dough I believe. 70's and 80's dimes without mint Mark's are rare
Could you give me an estimate of how many wheaties you have?
Zachary Lewis I’d say at least 3000 of them.
I'm a new viewer to your channel and I'm addicted.. but I'd like to ask, is there any major value in the wheat cents, or is it just the rarity?
Simon Burke Depends on the Wheat. Most average about $0.05 in value but can go upwards of $1500 in price for the most rare and mint wheats.
The UK penny. Used to be copper now just junk metals copper plated
Hey rob...i like coins ranover by cars...i call them....frankenpennys....crazy. Under a loop...r they worth saving
depends on the tire tread... some tires are more valuable than others! 😉
Rob, I have been enjoying your videos just wonder what your doing with the copper cents? Are you keeping them and speculating they might have melt value in the future if laws change?
Thrindal Yes - I actually have 20+ boxes of them that I have been cherry picking over the last month... only 13 more boxes to go!
@@RobFindsTreasure aa!
That Canadian looking coin is a British penny
I was able to Chang the last kinda thing from 69% to 70% on machine and 15% to 16%
On costumer
once i got some rolls on a saturday and got a lot of 2020 coins
A dumb question from a beginner. How and where do go to sell these coins for the best price when I find them?
Did you ever get any info on the all zinc penny? I have one from 1989 and think it's gotta be some sort of error.
I have seen like 5-7 of your videos...are you keeping all your Wheaties separated, and categorized by year, condition, etc, or (assuming the relative value is not incredibly more than $.01) just keeping the majority in a box, and only filing away the precious few? I would think that just based on the amount of wheat pennies you keep pulling, you have a wall of albums full of wheat pennies...that doesn't seem sustainable.
My FIRST machine rolled box I had was FILLED with 2015 pennies
2nd foreign is a uk penny
What's up with the 2009's?
Slick Silver. Just what I was thinking
Slick Silver I collect the 2009’s because they are the commemorative coins to Abe Lincoln... less of them in circulation and you can look at the “formative years” one for a variety coin worth more.
RobFindsTreasure cool...I did not know this. Thanks for the reply
What was up with that steel colored penny in the first box
And thst other penny with the Queen on it, I belive it is a British coin. To my knowledge the British coins don't say what nation it is from.
Fat_Al's Gaming Thanks Al!
They don't say, because it is from the UK. Territories state it on the coin, like Gibraltar, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
The 2000 is high mintage, but the design altered completely in 2008, in line with all the coins. The new design is "One Penny" on the left side, and the rest is dominated by part of the left of the shield for the UK, showing the Celtic harp for Northern Ireland, and part of the three lions for England.
If this helps at all.
What kind of magnet is That?
The second coin is from great britain i believe.
Samuel H Thanks Samuel - I think it is too!
It is. UK coins are for the whole union, the Royal Mint producing them all for the UK, and 60 countries in total.
Sir, that wheat cent was a 1912!
Can I ask, what is the purpose of this?
1912/13 cent is just like yanny or laurel
4:43 I've got a penny that's just like that one but mine is the year 1999
Just wondering, but how do you insert those questions?
Oh i have seen someone had seen it before me: Yes the 2 Cent (euro) are from Germany, i live here and the second foreighner is UK thats right i mean
New viewer here. Do you resell the wheat cents and rarer coins on ebay or other sites?
The euro cent can be used in most of Europe
How many 1913 penny s do u have
challenger 1 I think I have 4.
