@Sifinds Did you do any mud larking in Guernsey?
I'm planning on going to an East Coast beach on Saturday, you've inspired me to get out there and see what I can find. I'm worried that the rough sea will destroy artefacts but you never know.
My sister found the stem of a clay pipe on that beach back in March.

This video is incredibly fascinating, I am so tired but I couldn’t stop watching.
Everyone’s finds are so interesting the history of the island is important to remember.
It is sad that even a small part of the building couldn’t be restored for a museum. The rest built into accommodation.

I'm glad to see your channel doing so well! Have you tried detecting the walls of that fireplace incase something was sealed inside? Or any other walls? Enjoyed the video Si! Great coin finds from all over. Next time you want to solder one item on top of another, paint your flux on, set your solder on the flux, then set item number two on the solder pieces. Heat the item and when you see the top item drop down evenly it will be soldered. That way you won't have solder all over everything.

Maybe there’s your calling Si. You could start a fund to repair sections of the fort and get the well off prominent families to donate funds for either one wing, one section, one room refurbish. If they couldn’t afford to donate money maybe they could donate their craft and time. Then you could put their names on a group of brass shields mounted with a plaque in the center explaining the history. What ya think? Love the finds and love how you all gift each other fabulously personal items.

    Hey,Simon!
That token that you found reminds me of something interesting from my country.
Coal miners were paid in tokens in West Virginia,I think they nicknamed it ‘scrip’.
This forced them to only be able to purchase in the overpriced company-owned stores.
Angered by this, and having their demands to be paid in proper cash, basically a small scale war happened.
As a show of solidarity, the miners wore a red bandana around their necks.
This is where the word ‘Redneck’ comes from!
    It’s true!

What a glorious day! Out with good friends finding fantastic treasures… There were some fun and unusual finds and some truly beautiful pieces. So many great coins!
I enjoyed today’s video, focusing on the scenery, your surroundings, and the history as well as your own finds. It was so beautifully videoed and edited. Very professional and well done!
Loved your ring - and your first try! You should do another soon, now that you’ve got the hang of it, before you forget what you just taught yourself.

I always watch your vids and always enjoy a bit of a history lesson you give to items. I didn't know the story of Alderney and found it very interesting. Thanks Si!

regarding Clems statement on overcoat buttons..this is true on certain sites stateside..as an example, here in Florida ww1 tunic buttons are found in the old logging camps and towns..the tree cutters, mill workers, turpentine workers no doubt would wear their old military clothing at work..indeed other military equipment has been employed in civil use after its obsolescence..civil war artillery swords were useful on midwest farms in the corn harvest

No way!! Wow. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I dedicate it to him. What was his name?

    • @TheTwoFingeredBullFrog
      @TheTwoFingeredBullFrog 2 года назад +1

@@Sifinds His name was Cliff Evans, but everyone called him Rodney. Growing up I always thought his real name was Rodney but my grandmother always called him Cliff and I thought it was weird and didn't know why until I was older. He always had a picture on his living room wall of HMS Rodney next to his and his brothers medals. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and brought back memories of my grandparents, I appreciate all the effort you put in your videos 👍🏻
