- Budget Mountain Bike Gets Upgraded and Sent Hard!
In a previous video, we started fixing up an old entry level hardtail mountain bike, only to get stuck due to poor planning. We were going to give the bike to a lucky kid, but to meet the deadline we actually gave him a totally different bike. That video is here: • Our FAIL turned into "...
This week, we’re finishing what we started! With a bin full of the proper parts that actually fit the bike, we’re going to build it up and get it working. Then, we’ll hold on to it for a little bit and test it out on our backyard mountain bike trails! Enjoy.

I don’t know why the “no drama drop” was so funny to me, but I could not stop laughing.
You were a good boy 🥺

Do not like keep it 299
I lost it when he showd the sticker
I miss drama, why does everything bad have to happen at once?
we need to get a shirt thats says " something different , but kinda the same"
Yes
I support dis
Yess I would buy a shirt that says that
He said he's working on something like that
I think we already have that one but I'm not sure
The best thing I heard all day: "In terms of color matching on a scale of 1 to 10, this is green"
lmao
This made me laugh loud for real dude hahaha
Hold up, this video is a jojo reference. "I've got... sticky fingers"
My favorite thing was: This bike is either going to be for a little kid or a human
Caught me off guard
I feel your pain seth! I'm 5ft 4" tall and struggle to reach the floor! I'm 50 years old too so don't wanna fall from a big height anymore! I just built a bike for my son and REALLY enjoyed it so there may be a few more in my future!

An oldschool tip from a retro biker: If grips or those "sticky fingers" wont get over the levers, use a little bit pure alcohol. It removes the resistence but it goes of by itself after minutes and after that everything fits. We used this with oldschool grips that were not lock-on but just rubber you have to get over the handle bar.
I've always found hairspray to be the perfect thing for getting rubber grips on. It sets like glue when it dries, then will dissolve with warm water when you want to take it off.
Yep, Aqua-net was always near the tool box as a kid for working on bikes.
@@ljshoreslokal Same here but nowadays I just douse them with alcohol and slide them on.
I use windex for grips never tried hairspray before though
I came to the comments to see if anyone els mentioned this I've used hairspray on grips since I was a kid it works great
for me just ordinary alcohol disinfectant spray is just what i use when puting on the rubber grips
Last time I was this early, Seth’s name was still Seth Bike Hacks
Ok
FUMANFUMAN wtf when did he change
bl jm litterally this week
bl jm he had a stream the other day, he said that berm peak got more searches than seths bike hacks so he just changed it
I'm sad he changed it
Seth: “I almost forgot, valve caps!”
Me: *cringing at the sight of no valve nut*
8:04
Even worse that looks like the rim is designed for schrader/dunlop valves, so the inner tube is eventually going to get torn at the base of the valve stem and you can't really fix those tears. The absence of a valve nut could make this all the more worse than it usually would be or negate the negative side effects to some degree, time ridden will tell us more.
That's why it's called a "hack"
Me tooooo!
@Bob Longhorn not having one can shorten the life of the tube, but with a mtb you'll probably get a thorn or other puncture before that happens
It’s not tubeless
Oh those green grips are killing me!!!! Love the video seth
"This bike is either gonna be for a little kid or a human that's short" Is the greatest quote of the century and will live on through generations
“Warning No Drama Drop” had me laughing way to hard
Something the same but kinda the same. Thats what i like

🤣
"A little bit different, but kinda insane" - Seth 2021
i have watched this video so many times
For getting the sticky fingers on, for similar tasks I tend to spray isopropyl alcohol on whatever is getting sleeved and they slide on a little easier and the alcohol evaporates off fairly quickly
Funny thing is, when Seth first reviewed the Sticky Fingers, that's exactly what he did to get them on. I was surprised to see him struggle so much in this video without remembering that trick.
"On a scale of 1-10 for color matching, i would say... green"
We did it bois, the smart has been found
Such Classicness
Stupidness is no more

As a parent I agree.
As a kid I can confirm the accuracy of this
Kids are simply small sticky things that make messes, but you are still required to feed and water them.
Does that mean that 60 year old kids aren't human?
We need a follow up on the cheap fork!
Wow, so excited to see that, I have a hardtail Giant Talon, I really like the geometry, makes sense to upgrade allot of parts like this!

Try using isopropyl alcohol when putting on the brake grips, it’ll just evaporate after a couple of minutes.
Very impressive. Both the build and then the insane bike handling skills.

What about the made in china sticker🤣 he left it on
They call that RUclips Style, baby.
I'm new to this and had to look it tup to figure out it's just his drop lol. good man.
My parents gave my bike away when I was in college, a Specialized Hardrock Sport (I think). I tore that thing up, it was great. Shame I'll never get to do something like this and kind of repay it for all the joy it gave me, but I like to think it found a good home.
I got this same bike for about 5 years and decided to upgrade it the same way with a manitou air suspension fork, deore 1 x 10 drive train , deore hydraulic disc brakes, mavic tubeless rim wheel set, raceface pedals and a 150mm dropper seatpost. Thanks you Seth for giving me the ideas to upgrade my bike and make it a cool new bike again.

I've gotten obsessed with watching this channel. My friend recently gave me a mountain bike, however it's a really budget one and I plan to work on it and get new wheels, brakes, even a new fork because the suspension on it is awful. I'd love to see a video comparing budget Amazon air forks! Kinda getting back to the Seth's Bike Hacks roots of finding budget-friendly, yet quality ways to upgrade entry level, store bought bikes. We all know the forks spec-ed on these bikes are garbage and the comparable weight of a boat anchor, so a fork comparison video could be really helpful for folks in this boat... Great video Seth!
As a mechanic I love watching old bikes get new life! I would say though for the money the Box drivetrain is not the best out there, Microshift has the Advent X which costs less, has more gears and comes with a clutch derailleur.
