- We finally got to check off the one item that we could never find in Eastern Europe, and, Ukraine, specifically: authentic Latin American food.
As expected, Warsaw did not disappoint. Not only did we have a delicious Spanish paella, Colombian patacones, but I chatted a bit in Spanish for the first time since...I can't even remember.
We also mingled with cats at a cool cafe and rode the super modern Warsaw metro.
All in all, another awesome day in the Polish capital. 118

Macondo is actually pretty great. And they do salsa nights, dance classes, and all that. Definitelly a great place for a dinner night.

If you want the cats in the restaurant to react to you, you have to say "kici-kici". Polish cats react to that :)
And there is also entire new world when you start to look for more interesting places. There are plenty of them in Poland - big castle sites (Malbork, Cracow, etc.), great moutain places (Zakopane, Białka, Krynica, etc.), great lake region if you like some (Mazury) and whatever you imagine ;) Even some little things like one of the best amusement park in EU located in Zator (Energylandia) and many more. Wish you both great time in Poland and big amount of joy. Greetings.

It's so nice to see my old neighborhood through the lens of your camera! And so glad you decided to visit Targ śniadaniowy! I expected you might like it. Imagine living next to the metro station and being able to just walk there on Sunday, first for breakfast and then before they close, again for supper :D I can't wait till July when I'll be able to do that. You definitely should visit Nocny Market, which is much closer to where you are and open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. Wherever in Warsaw you end up, I hope you'll have a great place with a balcony, a cafe downstairs, nice park for walks, and a playground for your girl!

Metro Wierzbno is full in rush hours, because there is a lot of offices and shopping mall Galeria Mokotów (Galmok) nearby. We call that office/business area as Mordor
Heeey. About chestnuts trees - yeah, they are really popular in Poland!. There's even a saying involving these trees: "Kiedy kwitną kasztany to się uczą barany", which means "When chestnuts trees bloom, fools (rams) study" :) It is related to the exam which ends high school in Poland, called matura :) Matura takes place in May, when chestnuts trees bloom, that's where the saying comes from.

Forgot about one thing: this Saturday will be the Night of Museums, when museums are free. You may want to make use of that :)

Breakfast food trucks sound so fun. I don't think we have anything like that where I live here in the States. I love plantains, especially a maduros version at a favorite Cuban restaurant.
I knew you spoke Portuguese James but I didn't expect you to speak such good Spanish. I'm impressed! I used to study it back in the day but stopped after a while and started to learn German so my Spanish is really bad now. I can still read and understand it almost 100% but when trying to speak it I start off in Spanish and end up in German. XD
The food from the Colombian place looks awesome and I will definitely try it, thanks for sharing. :) When the guy mentioned the name of the restaurant I knew it sounded familiar. They are under the Poniatowski bridge at the intersection of Kruczkowskiego street and Aleja 3 maja. My flat is right next to this bridge and I pass by this restaurant everyday on the way to work. XD It's located on an island within Kruczkowskiego street in the structure of this bridge. The bridge itself is a site to check out but now there's more of a reason to check out my neighborhood. :)

Quick tip - Pierogi is already a plural word, so you don't add the "s" at the end. In case you want it singular, then it's pieróg. Cheers!

In the US, you can find all types of Latin American food in Miami (I love South Florida).
I had no idea there was such a food festival in Warszawa. We will make a point of it to visit when I get there. Do you remember the name of the park?

This festival is called the breakfast market and takes place every weekend from late spring to Autumn in Żoliborz - at the AK Granat square and Mokotów - Aleja Wojska Polskiego (Warsaw districts).

In Warsaw districts (районы) consist of numerous areas. In that case you were to Mokotów - Wierzbno (district - area). So those labels saying only "Wierzbno", for instance, only tell you the area, and not the main information (district).
The district of Mokotów, for example, has 12 areas.
I used to live close to this place - the 'Targ Śniadaniowy' is on every Sunday during summer (at least it was before C19). It's a really good option for a 'different breakfast' if you have a lazy day :) I'm happy that you like it - and hope you will find your place in PL at least for some time :)

It’s the first time I listen to you speaking Spanish language. You do great. I am originally from Madrid and there are so many different ways to speak Spanish language, even in Spain, that sometimes it’s even hard to understand some phrases. Of course we can all understand each other but the same thing has different ways to be said in most countries who speak Spanish language.

I hope your new apartment has a balcony, chestnut trees nearby and lots of international restaurants around! I know you are always super positive about everything but I will be sad for you if you don’t have those three things nearby! I thought that Wierzbno is a too sleepy neighborhood for a big-city-guy. But you have enjoyed it. ;) Now I really think you will be one and the only one person that could show us any advantages of living in Sosnowiec. ;)
In Ochota you don't have Metro, but you can travel there using your "karta miejska" with a "red" SKM-city-train S1 or S2 from anywhere in Warsaw to Warszawa Zachodnia or Warszawa Ochota train station. You can take also any of the "green" trains from "Koleje Mazowieckie" and travel there anywhere within the city borders.
Hi again. I already wrote you that Saska Kępa is a great place to visit. You can find there many local restaurants and a cool neighborhood. Saska Kępa is not far from the center, a few tram stops in direction FRANCUSKA street. Also, check all the markets on Saturdays and Sundays in Warsaw: ŻOLIBORZ: Aleja Wojska Polskiego 4, NOCNY MARKET: Towarowa 3, SLOW MARKET: Bulwary Wislane. Cheers

I just searched for information about metro in ochota and they are planning to do 3rd line from Praga Południe to north and it might go to Ochota (they are still planning route). They plan to start building it before end of 2023 from Praga, however i imagine many things may change.

Go to Skaryszewski park and try Efes food. You can look to the "Poniatówka" beach and "schodki" boulevard.

Hey guys. Since you like good food and live nearby, I wouldn't normally shout out about this place, because it's already crowded sometimes and hard to get a seat, but I recommend you try a non chain, one of a kind pizzeria on Barska street. I'm a pizza guy and have tried countless pizzas around Warsaw, Poland and Europe. I know it's a matter of a taste but for me the others don't even match. Pizzeria na Barskiej since 1991. Cheers :) and hush don't let anyone else know about it.

BTW: M2 is the newer metro line (West-East) and has even nicer stations and trains. From what I've heard M1 line (the one you used in that video, the North-South one) should be pretty similar to that in Kharkiv.
Expect long lines wherever you can get Japanese food. In Poland, we like Japanese cuisine very much.
Another great episode! :) The guys from Warsaw's city hall marketing department should hire you, instantly.:) BTW, the district Wierzbno is spelled with "rz", not "r". And the Polish "rz" (and "ż") denote nearly the same consonant that you hear at the beginning of the Russian word "женщина". Or the first sound in the 2nd syllable of the English "ca-su-al".
Wierzbno is a proper name. In Russian that would be something like Вербево, and in English: Willowville.
We had those street food festivals all over Poland last weekend. I went to get lunch, the lines were longer than in Soviet Russia. I was too hungry to stand in line, went to McD

Now it's time for the Night Market(Nocny Market) above the closed platforms of the Dworzec Warszawa Główna (Main Railway Station, Towarowa Street) Don't confuse this place with the Warszawa Centralna railway station.

As I can see and observing very carefully, you all are heaving good holiday in Poland now since February !! Not many Polish people have life like you in Poland !!.
What he does does not cost much. The secret sauce is: be positive, optimistic and curious, enjoy life, do not take things for granted, appreciate and use the infrastructure that surrounds you. It's available to everybody. That's it! They are setting a very good example, very inspiring.
... and I am really grateful that they are sharing their journey with us.

Many people are embarrassed to speak a foreign language if they have no speaking skills. People are afraid to hear criticism from others in their address. It all comes from having a psychological complex - to make a mistake. But, after all, he who does nothing is not wrong! In Yuriy Ivantsiv's workshop "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" states that we need to talk as much as possible: with yourself, with the mirror, with inanimate objects, with children and with pets. Find an interlocutor in real life or online. Talk without shyness. People won't care how you speak. They understand that you are a foreigner, as long as they understand you. They may even acknowledge your progress in their language and compliment you. However, always be prepared for criticism of your speaking skills. If you have the will to speak, you will gain an interesting interlocutor to consolidate your knowledge. Everyone is strewn with mistakes - don't be afraid to learn from them. I recommend visting Stary Mokotów. You were very close. Stary Mokotów is quarter of beautiful villas, situated between streets : Odyńca, Puławska, Aleja Niepodległości and Woronicza.

Talking about Columbia, my cousin really likes Cartagena - a beautiful, cobblestone town on the shores of the Caribbean coast. Most of the tourists don't want to go to Columbia because they are scared by drug cartels and also serious poverty in Columbia but my American cousin says it was totally safe when he and his wife went to Cartagena.
Cartagena may be safe....but a lot of the rest of the country has crime. My missus is from Colombia and watches the news.
@@penguinsfan251 Possible, the safety situation in Cartagena, could be like with Cabo San Lucas in Baja Sur, Mexico, Mexican narcos cartels shooting one another on beautiful beaches there, but thousands of gringos , from the U.S. keep coming there looking for sun, and party time.
Oh and I was reading a dialogue somewhere the other day, For which they didn't bother to include translation, so there were a few words that I didn't understand and while I was looking things up I found out that apparently ochota means desire.

So for some reason we are growing plantains in the backyard. They were supposed to be bananas I think. I don't know where my roommate gets these trees. But generally we use them for anemometers. Well, they're not precise, but when the wind blows they fall over. One of them fell over behind me one day when I was in the duck house. I heard it crash but I didn't notice that it was right behind me. Oh look! there on the ground! So maybe if we try *cooking* them... (And if we manage to get to them before the wildlife does)
