You will be able to see everywhere the gun stopped spraying and the started spraying again. You should not ever start or stop in the piece you are painting
No you won’t. If it was a smooth surface, I’d agree with you, but on a textured door panel like this, as long as the paint is thick enough, you’ll never see it. What you don’t want to do is release the trigger while holding the gun still. If you keep the flowing motion while squeezing and releasing the trigger, on a textured surface like this, you’ll never see the marks. I worked in a cabinet shop some, and there for the smooth cabinet boxes, you definitely want to spray past the end of the cabinet before releasing the trigger. I’d assume auto body is the same, but I’ve never done any auto body work, so I can’t speak on that.
I prefer using the low pressure tips whenever I have a lot angles like this, you can just hold that trigger down and get one coat with one pull. You do have to do several coats most of the time though
Licensed contractor and framer by trade, built myself a 24x36 in the backyard on runners and decided to get a sprayer from Lowe’s to see if I’d rather do that than roll when on occasion I do paint my own projects, wind carried that shit to mine and my neighbors cars and the wind wasn’t even fucking blowing. Lesson learned the hard way
no the right way to paint the garage just to go from right to left (orleft to right) all the way across and one consistent line so that you don’t double up the thickness where you stop.
@@jacobkolkmeier2285 The exposure on the surface deteriorates much more quickly on South facing exterior. That slight overlap in 3 years(if not second coated) will become a set of horizontal bands because of the density of those 2” double coats. Thoughts?
it matters more with different viscosities of the paint - you can get away with this kind of disorder on some that move readily to level a bit after spray - others, it'll show like roller edges. Better to do very long continuous strokes whenever possible and minimize short strokes. Kind of. lol
He's also "fanning" the gun, which means the area directly in front of the gun will have heavier coverage than the edge, as it's spraying at an angle to the surface. This is all basic spraying technique.
If one does it fast enough and not in the sun. It doesn’t make any difference. Always keep a wet edge. I would not it that way but in the end it would look the same after it cures.
Those horizontal runs should be frame to frame starting at the top. Also, you need 12 inch masking at the bottom of the garage door. No need to paint your tarps on this one.
If he stands in the middle hell be able to spray across the whole door from side to side he would have done it in 12 sprays. The less you pull the trigger the better. If the tip clogs hed have redos

Yes, you are correct, and I’m pretty sure he’s suppose to be a professional
All the older tradesmen are gone, no one to teach him the proper techniques
Ya like if it’s all the same color and windows are taped… why are you trimming it out? Go left to right like a normal human
Learned this in autobody at vocational in highschool almost 3p years ago. Still remember and use it, even though I'm not in any field that paints.

That compressor sounds like it's making fun of a compressor
Dude thats hilarious
What compressor?
It’s an airless pump. But it does sound like what your saying. I’ve been hearing it for 35 years but never heard that until you said something.😂
That's not the sound of an air compressor that's the sound of a airless paint sprayer😂😂😂 it really is
So true to the sound
Dude was like let's see how many times I can start and stop IN the field. You have to try to do it that poorly.
Strange technique 😮
That’s THE worst I’ve ever seen someone spray a door. 🤯
Summer painting... sprayed some over here... sprayed some over there...
Gotta work on that delivery
😅😅😅😅😂
Just because you can wear a Sherwin Williams shirt doesn’t mean you can paint.
Gonna need two coats with that dude painting.
Two light coats is better anyways. One thick one takes weeks to dry without being sticky when it’s a deep base.

Up down up down from one side to the other then left right left right from top to bottom. SHAZAM!!
no the right way to paint the garage just to go from right to left (orleft to right) all the way across and one consistent line so that you don’t double up the thickness where you stop.
I would have a wider fan for the tip, and plan on two coats for proper mil thickness
Obviously not a Southern Exposure, overlaps show up pretty Quickly!
As a painter in the South Ga, I'm very curious about what you mean. Your saying he shouldn't overlap while spraying ?
@@jacobkolkmeier2285 The exposure on the surface deteriorates much more quickly on South facing exterior. That slight overlap in 3 years(if not second coated) will become a set of horizontal bands because of the density of those 2” double coats. Thoughts?
Great job
More holidays than December. 😮
😁
😂bet gun spit everywhere too
Looks great 👍
Now you should open it as you go and spray the edge of each panel so when it's opened you don't see flashes of the old color....
If your client only sees his house at night this is good
Just don’t look at it from above! You know where the sun is, and why you paint in the first place.
HOLIDAY!!
Proof, every painter is a diva this comment right here
I definitely would have sprayed edge to edge starting from the bottom side to side.
For a 2nd I thought this was the idaho painter LOL😅
The "it looks good from my house" special
Someone teach this man to use a prayer pls
Only thing more annoying about this is when you open the door and have two white strips running down both sides
That looks clean af
Painting is easy it is the prep work.
It will look good when they open it and it has a white border all around where the seal is
As a painter for almost 30 years, I do my garage doors from corner to corner nonstop spraying 😊
Genuine question. Does it matter that he’s is spraying in 30 different directions?
Yes it matters
it matters more with different viscosities of the paint - you can get away with this kind of disorder on some that move readily to level a bit after spray - others, it'll show like roller edges. Better to do very long continuous strokes whenever possible and minimize short strokes. Kind of. lol

Yes it does 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Personally I take it all apart and do all the inside edges let it fully cure then reassemble . I overlap 50% each pass and only spay one direction.
If one does it fast enough and not in the sun. It doesn’t make any difference. Always keep a wet edge. I would not it that way but in the end it would look the same after it cures.
Take the door apart? Crazy🤡
I watch it again he did just fine.
Those horizontal runs should be frame to frame starting at the top.
Also, you need 12 inch masking at the bottom of the garage door. No need to paint your tarps on this one.
I thought that creme color looked better, or maybe a burgundy would look better giving a nice contrast.
You should have done 2 coats a thin one then a thicker it's a vertical surface .would give a better glass finish
nice job....what about a 2nd coat ??
Great job. It will definitely need another coat . Nice color btw
Get you a small extension my brother it will help so much.
That's a weird way to spray a garage
Sounds like that little Magnum sprayer is working pretty hard.......
It’s a graco 695 😂
For the longest, I thought I was hearing a woman’s voice over a radio signal in the background.
Long stroke, Daniel-san
Home before dinner 💪
Nice job
Do you open the door and paint the area that is behind the weather strip?
What would be an average cost to paint that of a single card or double wide? Just curious
I see a lot of inconsistencies and this is one of em
Nice work what color is it
Whatever works for you if the end result is the same keep it up
Two top coats will cover your Holidays. 😂
Sherwin williams is going to ask for that T-shirt back
I know it was not his choice, but why paint the garage the same color as the house?
😂😂😂😂😂 what a so called professional painter 😂
Nice!
Oh my God, the Internet read my mind! I am getting ready to use my new airless paint gun to paint my garage door and this video pops up!
Stretch marks?
😂😂
What about the top and edge of the sides that aren’t painted?
Even the sprayer is saying no no no no no!!!!
This was painful to watch try and keep your strokes as long and consistent as possible man.
The compressor loves 13teen!!😅😅😅😅
what color is your paint?
What type of tip you using on this ?
Smallest garage door ever. Mask outside, just wear a hood and pick the paint boogers out later!
Gotta be new construction with those paint choices lol. If everything is the same color painting goes much quicker…
Im so mad about this spray pattern
His cutter around the door why his not kept going?
Some one call Mr.George
Sounds like the air compressor was enjoying that a little too much
I would put another coat on that.
Id prefer to dust it with one coat, then apply a serious coat.
Tell me thats your first time spraying a door without telling me thats your first time
If he stands in the middle hell be able to spray across the whole door from side to side he would have done it in 12 sprays. The less you pull the trigger the better. If the tip clogs hed have redos
Yea I'm about to take 2 hours to do mine 😂😂😂😂😂
Put the sprayer down and let Jose do it !!! Shit looks like a candy cane there’s so many stripes !!
The garage door meet to spray up and down and not to spray like this just 1 time round and after up and down
Good job dude. Some of these guys can't paint rocks.
Lol 😂 Ill take what is lines everywhere for 200 please Alex
How many coats should a garage get? Never done one just curious
1,000,000,000
This is a terrible way to spray a garage door
What about the edges
😂😂😂 ARE U KIDDING ME
🤣🤣🤣🤣 that spray pattern
I’ve watched a lot of really good painters spray doors. Not like that though
Look like it’s a 415 tip
You understood everytime you pull that trigger it spits right? Stop hitting the trigger as much Start on the paper or drop
Lesson 101 how to spray garage door with 6: 21
This is possum head spray painting, very few men can master the gun.
Newbie I guess, overlapping everywhere
and thats why THOUSANDS of garage doors around rhe globe get painted this very same way every year.
this is nothing ground-breaking
Relax your wrist 🤙
You missed a spot.
Should of painted it Burgundy, would of looked alot better
Sassy compressor
Missed a spot
Only way, except every other technique that works.
El compresor chilango no existe..
El compresor chilango 😂
Rosas rosas rosas rosas 😅
Spot on the lower right corner 🧐
This was only the first coat
Ouch
Terrible action, that door will look like a dogs dinner when it's dry
I cringed every time he started and stopped.
He missed a spot..
