We spend half the year in Split. Went for a long weekend 7 years ago, bought a place and love everything about it. Food, wine, weather, people, sea and just everything about really is exceptional and so under rated still. Great video. Half the places you ate at, we eat at regularly. Well done.
Great recommendations!! Just came back from Split & Hvar. The chicken pasta dish at Uje Oil bar was the best dish I have ever had in Croatia and I have been there 4 times. Thank you!! Also loved Nook in StariGrad. Your videos are excellent- thanks!! (Also, we were in Italy for 5 days first, and the pasta was great - but the pasta at Uje Oil bar was just amazing.)
Hi Nancy! Uje is really something special isn't it? Stands head to head with any past I had in Italy for sure. Split and many other places in Croatia have really upped their food game in the past 10 year or so, haven't they?
Currently planning a trip to Croatia for May 2023. So happy I came across this video! Having been to Italy, I was feeling the food in Croatia would be disappointing. After all, it's hard to beat the food in Italy. After watching this video, I'm now much more excited and looking forward to trying all the restaurants you've listed, and especially the pasta! Happy travels and stay safe. :)
Hi Dianne! You absolutely won't be disappointed in the food. And if you're going in May you may get lucky and the Gourmet Food fair might be on again! It's in the park right behind the Gregor of Nin statue and you get to try all the best restaurants in town. Enjoy & feel free to reach out on FB or Instagram if you have any questions ❤️ And yes, absolutely eat that smoked mussel pasta at Uje oil bar
@@PureDetour hello I am from Croatia and I live close to city of split,I recomend that you nexst to visit restorount calld:"Prelica" it has good food lamb and it is located close to Klis, also lot of good food
Looks like you guys are having a good time And you guys look like you’re rejuvenated. Hope to see you guys somewhere in your travels are there in Croatia or in Thailand you never know where I’ll show up hi Angie hi Jeff
We're having an amazing time! You keep threatening to show up but haven't seen you yet! Let us know when you're ready for a break and we'll make plans, that would be so fun!
The same is with me.I omnly met Angela and Jeff yesterday and we seem to be already friends for ever. I live in Ottawa, Canada and plan again to visit my Zagreb and the rest of Lijepa nasa and to retire there soon. I will be 81 on Dec,12 2022. and hope to finish my life journey on the same soil where I started to breath for the first time. ,and my parents taught me my first Croatian words.
You are great fun. One advice if I may most staff made by KRAS shoulds be good., Hope that Stjepan Hauser is playing Despacito for you then enjoy the party. Blitva is also great. Of course cevapcici su takodjer fini i svi ih vole. Just to mention for non-Croatian people the reason why Croatians enjoy happy long life ,it is because they maybe live several lives and continue to live after any they encountered and never get up during their long miserable life and always tried again.
Hahahaha, despacito was so random there. We have tried some KRAS snacks! If you saw our snack video you can see that we didn't include them and made all of Croatia angry, lol. Next time
Love this video! Ty for your great reviews and explanations of the food. We are headed there in August on a cruise… how did you pay? We are concerned about using our credit cards in Europe… Any tips on paying in these places?
For the most part cards are accepted everywhere. Smaller shops will be cash only and smaller villages will be more cash dependant. If you are only stopping in Split, your cards will work in the majority of places. Just be sure to have some Euros on you just in case
Hi Anissa! Thanks for the comment! We've been moving quite slowly and taking ground transport like buses or trains whenever possible so that helps. So far in the almost year since we left Canada we've only been to 5 countries and spent a full month in 6 or 7 cities, so travelling slowly really helps cut down on the expenses. Also, before we left Geoff collected tons of credit card travel points so that has helped with the cost of flights too. Since we left Canada we've spent around 25k usd total. And Croatia certainly isn't as inexpensive as it used to be so we're planning some less expensive countries coming up. Hope to hear more of your thoughts and questions going forward! And if you haven't subscribed, please do, it helps us and that way you can keep up with where we go next!
Thank You soo much for You're lovelly program! ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks to You guys croatian people can turn their lives around after years of hardship! My parents are croatian! So lots of love to You guys! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow Ingrid. This is such a sweet comment and it really means so much to us. We love Croatia too (Angela's parents are also Croatian!) and we are so happy to be able to show people what an amazing country Croatia is, with warm welcoming people, beautiful towns and delicious food! Much love to you back and thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for the feedback Norman. We're continually looking to improve and appreciate your comment. Check out our Dubrovnik food tour and please let us know if you feel that you get a better sense for the food as we tried some new things

If you stayed in Dalmatia for a few years, I doubt that you would be able to get on a plane to Canada 😂😂😂😂
So true Zoran! Especially in the cold Canadian winter time 🤣🤣🤣
