Or, since castlevania is a product of chaos, those might be zombies or other kind of illusions to try and catch Simon off guard or distract him from his quest
people seem to hate chronicles redesign of simon. i personally love it, actually. for one thing, simon is, at the time of castlevania 1 and its many, many remakes/reimaginings 22 years old. he's barely over the drinking age. and yet classic simon always looks to be about 30 in all his artwork. at least he LOOKS his age here unlike most depictions.
It's not the only case, Richer in his first appearance is 19 and yet in the Rondo of Blood artwork and sprites he looks way older than a teenager, while in the DXC arrtwork he finally looks like someone more in line with his canonical age. Alucard's case is the opposite however, he looks much older in the Castlevania 3 artwork compared to SoTN and later redesigns.
I love this re-imagining of the original game. This was one of the first Castlevania games I owned/played through all the way. An underrated chapter in a classic series.
Oh man as a child I never made it past 11:15 because it was too hard for my 10 years old self. I can finally watch what the rest of the game is like. Edit: What? It was that easy!? It seemed way harder back then!
@@Bloodreign1 I think the original of this game "not arranged mode" are also harder. Or maybe I just thought so coz I never played it since 2010 I was 12 back than
For me, what I was stuck at when I was around 12 is this ice spike press at 16:47. And then after I’ve figured it out, the next stuck point was the clock tower’s werewolf boss.
awesome remake of the first one .. but i can say they made Dracula a bit more easier on this one this one they give you more time on knowing where he will appear
@@somacruz7759 And it's the canon one, since this Game (arrange version) was listed as the canon version of the first game in the official chronology that came with Portrait of Ruin.
I always see this as the "real" castlevania 2. It came out later than 4, but really, it's kind of the bridge between 1 + 3 that's not simon's quest. kinda like how the lost levels is mario bros 2.
IDK man... If this is just a remake with a few changes... I think I'll stick with Super Castlevania 4. It's only 16 bits, but... at least you can whip in 8 directions.
Yeah, who says you can't like both as their own game? Sort of like Dracula X; yes the PCE version is much better, but the SNES version is still a fine Castlevania game in its own right. Though I don't know why they took so much out of the SNES version. Because Konami, I guess.
You don't have to stick to any of them. Play them all, they all have their own positives and negatives. SCIV's greatest strength is also it's down side (too darn easy).
This is a remake full and full SCIV is continuing from where Simon Killed Dracula in Simon's Quest where Dracula's Hand Popped out and the Lightning restarted his nonbeating heart. So Simon must beat Dracula.... AGAIN this is a retelling with new chapters added Such as the She Wolf Battle, The Doppelganger and the Wizard Not to Mention a explaination to how Dracula came back after Christopher Killed him
I think that Konami was forced to add that mediocre CGI introduction to satisfy PlayStation players expecting that every game had to use the FMV capabilities of the console. What a shame: the original introduction for the Sharp X68000 computer still stands out.
Depends on which type of Castlevania you liked, and myself having played the ones before it, this fit the bill just right. Never much cared for the Metroidvanias.
great video! i personally quite like this version, but i'd definitely say the X68000 original is superior, even if the sort of absurd 4 damage dealt since Stage 3 is a bit overkill, it's still fair in most places and Stage 5 is less insufferable there.
Must be the Game Over shop over there, I hit it years back and found some good stuff there. The only copy of this game I ever saw, besides the US and PAL variants I own, was one at a Play N Trade in Panama City, Florida, and they wanted an assload for it.
how strong belmont in this timeline? well from stage one until the final stage he just walk even he got a timer.just walkin like a park while slaying some minions of darkness just like nothing. and he do the same thing on dracula😆😆😆
The problem with SotN? The difficulty was near null and avoid once you leveled up enough and had the right weapons, while this game will beat you senseless all the way to the end.
I like the Simon redesign except for two things. 1) I thought Simon was a blonde. This guy looks like he's been in his sister's Ashley Maddison! And (2) why the heck does his Sprite have a sword!?
"Haunted Castle" original name for castlevania arcade. Simon has a sword and you can use it for fighting. I think they're planning to do the same but just didn't.
Simon has always been red haired. He was only blonde in the western version because we westerners were stupid back then and decided on changing the damn thing based on game visuals(while ignoring the lmitations in color pallets which made them change the ingame hair to a more brown looking one). The original art for Simon in Japan has always depicted him as having red hair.
Playing in this mode instead of the original one is easier because you lose less energy when you are hit. But in return you have to play like Simon Belmont dressed as a drag queen... It's something like the chicken hat in Metal Gear V. 🤣
They probably didn't care because it's a 3rd party game, but if they didn't like it it would have been because it was not 3d. Sony pushed hard for everything to be 3d because that's what the ps1 was primarily geared towards. Polygons meant "next gen" and 2d games didn't sell as well.
Péssimo jogo. Para mim um dos piores da franquia. Nível de dificuldade muito alto sem necessidade. O jogo poderia ser bem melhor se não fosse isso. Eu detestei esse jogo.
That remix of Vampire Killer is hilarious. It's like a dance club version. XD
now I can just imagine Simon Belmont walking into a club whipping Vampires in a dance club.
Its so awful and slighty good
the remix of bloody tears is beautiful
It’s my favourite version of Vampire Killer. It definitely stands out. Plus, I really like electronic dance music.
It’s not that bad. It might not fit, but it’s the best out of all the versions.
So, stage 19 is filled with kidnapped innocent people and Simon just ignores them... really hope he went back for them before the castle crumbled
😂
I think those might be zombies.
It's cool, they're all Jehovas Witnesses refusing to bend the knee to the Dark Prince.
I always found that so disturbing...

Good game, underrated in my opinion.
