    I have only had my Tremor for a few weeks but must say I love it.
    It has plenty of power and rides great. The interior is not super fancy but is clean and everything works great. The sync 3 has no issues and the seats are amazing!
    The B&O 10 speaker sound system sounds incredible.
    Mine has a spray in bed liner I have put about $500 in extras in the truck, one that I recommend is the neoprene seat covers they look good and protect the seats.
    I was looking for a new F150 Lariat but when I drove this and really compared them I couldn't justify $25000 more.
    Great truck!

    Great video, thank you. There is a feature of that ten speed automatic that lets you lock gears and set up your own range of selectable gears for whatever type of terrain you're in. Just perfect for some fun in the dirt when you only want a few gears to choose from.

    I really think you guys should have taken the truck to some steep hills and tried the Trail Control. You’d be surprised to find that it really does do a great job going both up and down hills. The computer sends powers to the wheels that are getting traction and sends braking the same way.

    So I am an avid offroader, many years of rock crawling. I have a ranger tremor and your review is so far off. If you actually used the truck instead of driving on a wet road you would see that this truck is extremely capable. And the trail control cruse will absolutely work on steep hills. Do a real world test before giving your un experienced opinion

    • @TestDriveVideos
      @TestDriveVideos  2 года назад +2

      Where did we say this truck wasn't capable off-road? We wouldn't want to take it to the more extreme Moab trails, but short of that, we find it quite capable.

    • @brianchoate8675
      @brianchoate8675 2 года назад +3

      @@TestDriveVideos you didn't say that it wasn't capable. You said the crawl control doesnt work on steep hills. One of you also said you didn't like the power and the transmission because it shifts to soon. You can actually set it stop up shifting past a certain gear without being in sport mode. It keeps the power on the top.

    The main reason they brought this model Ranger back when they did is because Ford needed another vehicle to assemble on the same line as the Bronco to justify getting the Bronco finally into production - Thank the Ranger for the Bronco - I'll still take this Tremor model - great truck!

    The jokes on "autonomous offroading" are appreciated. But I gotta say, as a road user who actually likes driving, I would much rather autonomous tech was tested in gritty, rough, and most importantly *isolated* environments.
    There are two main reasons: Testing in dirty environments would allow sensor technology to be tested in less-than-ideal conditions, which would be good for snow and other weather than the sunny and dry of California. Perhaps more importantly, most road users don't know they're part of a beta test. Yet another road user may be in #FullSelfDriving, not paying attention, without their knowledge.

    I'm really sad that everyone treats Apple Carplay and Android Auto like the gatekeeper of a modern car interior. Both services suck for anyone who drives outside LTE reception. You can't select your own music using the screen while you drive, because "safety" (even though adjusting your radio has always been part of driving **edit, ok it wasn't in the 50s when radios were optional), and if you try to use your digital assistant like Siri, you better have a good internet connection and hope she understands what you said. As a non-subscriber to Apple Music, she always seems to find the version of the song on Apple Music first and then complain I'm not signed up, rather than play the version I bought from iTunes and have saved in my phone. Oh and did you want to listen to that song that your phone didn't save yet? Too bad, because you're in an out of reception and you don't have it downloaded. Oh and even though you aren't interested in responding to any text messages, game reminders, social media posts, or news articles while you drive, your music will be interrupted by bings and bongs and chirps and chimes over your in-car speakers. I loathe using my smartphone as a music device. It's inferior to a dedicated music player. Of course I don't want to carry a separate music player around on my person, so I'm glad smartphones CAN do music, but the car is a given space with hidey holes. I just keep an iPod in each car permanently, except when I plug it into my computer to add music. The problem is all the modern headunits no longer support the iPod interface, only smartphones. The golf supported old iPods until 2015. Not sure about other makes. But it's a damn shame, and these new radios are sp integrated into vehicle functions that I fear a "downgrade" to a pre-streaming music solution is impossible.

    I test drove a Ranger and a Tacoma (non off-road specific packages) before I ended up going for a Ridgeline. I realized that I'm never going to take it off road, so on road manners, comfort, and amenities were high on my list. Of the two, I really liked the way the Ranger drove. Like Todd said, I thought the engine/transmission combo really gave it a sprightly feel that pleasantly surprised me. With all the trouble I had getting a Ridgeline (the new front-end refresh this year must be incredibly popular, as dealers are sold out everywhere), I almost went with the Ranger, but I just couldn't take the interior. Even though I'm sure I could have gotten a better deal on the Ranger, the antiquated interior and lack of some features I wanted compared to the Ridgeline made me go for the Honda instead.

    Greater off-road prowess aside, I do think the Ridgeline would likely be the truck for me. Possibly the Hyundai Santa Cruz, too. I really don’t go crazy off-road. Who knows, but It’s late, I’m tired and perhaps a refreshed and more energetic version of me would conclude otherwise. Good to see your work, as always!

    I drive a 2001 F350 9 foot bed superduty with a v-10 and it gets thru every parking lot and off road area I have needed to go. It works great on boat ramps and works great towing 14000 pounds peetty often. And the long wheelbase makes backing up a trailer much easier...fyi.
    The huge rear end gears can last 500 k miles very easily. The large box frame works well when you throw a couple thousand pounds of railroad ties in back.
    So your driving in light mud is not really how people use large full frame trucks.
    I pull very large heavy trailers up some big hills and appreciate I dont need to shift my manual trans down to 4th gear.
    You might like the mid size truck for going to the mall or getting coffee. But it does not pull a multi car hauler or 35 foot boat trailer safely at all. My truck does that stuff.

    • @anaswarjayakumar852
      @anaswarjayakumar852 3 года назад +4

      Thats not the point of trucks like the Ranger. The Ranger is also not a large full frame truck either. Its a light duty pickup. The Ranger can do light towing but for heavy duty towing, a heavy duty truck like your F350 will do the job. Also almost all truck owners use their trucks for daily driving and dont use their trucks like they are meant for. Only people like construction workers would use a truck like its meant for. A Ranger could easily do all of the things a full size pickup could do otherwise.

    • @TestDriveVideos
      @TestDriveVideos  3 года назад +6

      ? - We never claimed this ranger will do any of the things guy listed. In fact we even stated that if you need full size capabilities, this won’t do that. A huge number of truck buyers don’t need big truck capability… But we thank you for always watching and sharing your thoughts!

    Such a beautiful truck. Devastatingly poor powertrain - it's just horrible and the only reason I won't buy it. Blame EPA and regulars forcing car companies to conform. Seems the Asians are doing it better. I'd rather a straight 6 cylinder direct injection will slightly less hp and trq. Small engines plus high compression is physics telling you your powertrain will not last long at all, plus unpredictable reliability and maintenance.

      If they are testing it off road and getting in and out and switching drivers or filming, it makes sense. And you don't know if they cleaned up before returning it. Paul is the clean guy of the two. Lets not make assumptions here.
