Actually it is quite easy to "butter" the Q400 as long as you know how to fly it properly.

I have flown onboard the Q400 a few times now and there was never a really bumpy landing the landings were pretty smooth...

As a q400 pilot I agree, it's not the easiest plane to land, took me a bit to know how to land smoothly, though I do sometimes get the"firm" landings 😄😄
I have had plenty of smooth landings in the Q400. I often fly the Q400 in Canada on WestJet and about 85% of the landings were on the smoother side!

Did you know, great landing is the best landing but the butter is a middle rank.
From having taken them quite a lot of time, I can confirm that you can't expect a smooth landing and as it decelerates, you really feel the deceleration and your body moving forward - I've seen bottles roll all the way to the front of the plane from near the back on more than 1 occasion

Swiss last time you did a video about doing smooth landing you did it on FS2020 and you had to use the landing challenge to get the FPM so I would recommend you to do it again but using Gees landing analysis so that you get more information about the landing. I use it and it’s very simple to use and it automatically connects to FS2020 when you are running it. (Basically Cirrus jet in a nutshell over simplified). Btw it’s freeware

From flying as a passenger in the Q400 quite often I can say that landings are usually quite firm. Not hard, not butter, but firm. In bad weather it is common to feel one landing gear on the ground before the other.

Hey, Swiss. You should check out Placencia Airport in Belize. It has a 650-meter-long asphalt runway that ends in front of water (so you do NOT want to overrun(good title)) and is surrounded in trees in the beginning of it (there is also a ROAD crossing the end of it). I flew there as a passenger in a Cessna Grand Caravan on Maya Airlines from Belize International Airport. The pilots flew direct and approached from the left side.
