    The real questions on this are: Was Grand Slam on leave, and that's why they went with Flash? Why was Flash wearing Thunder's visor? Are they bunkmates and he was rushing out in the dark? And while Tollbooth did a wonderful job, this is Heavy Metal's baby. He should have been driving and Steeler sitting (for once) in that delightful top seat. Now Tollbooth will want his Toss n' Cross to do the same thing. Then Cover Girl will need it for the wolverine, and then the whole motor pool. I think you made more work for yourself, and I can't wait to see them.

    also, it s great memorabilia to see the hal laser cannon.
    man, did I love this thing.
    don t you have grand slam to operate it?
    I d see Duke in the turret, Heavy metal is supposed to be the driver.
    if I did rc a mauler, I d probably not make a hole in the turret,
    I actually like an automated firing system as concept.
    nowadays, some tanks are totally un manned.
    I d like to see your take on the latest biggest tank of the joe line.
    the grizzly, I have not seen much of this model.

      I don’t know if I have grand slam. The first year guys mostly look the same to me 😁 I also loved that HAL. I had the mobat to tow it. I never had a mauler. I was to old to get toys by then but my cousin got it and the moray, defiant, etc. I’d play with him and think how cool these toys were but I was too old to get them. Now I don’t care how old I am lol

      @@ActionRobotPunch in 82 I was 13, I kept having more money, I could nt stop buying more until 19, of course, I was posing figures more than anything around 15, had girlfriends and all, my friends knew my hobby - collection, none of them did it though, at 19 my sport car [crx] payments choked my expenses, and had little space, I had to buy plastic storage bins, and some pieces broke as a result. [packed too tight] I stopped buying figs around the 'head hunters', maybe 91.. the line died shortly after. with a house and more money, I never would have stopped collecting. my biggest regret was missing the rolling thunder.
      I loved looking at my whole collection in a room, all figs standing 'for review'.
      it was especially rewarding looking at cobras, since they looked more like a real army. multiples of the same units, uniformity.

    Great video! It inspired me to do this with my Mauler. I am 90 precent done with my build. A few questions tho. It looks like you cut the nubs off on the barrel. Is that why you used the washers? How did you secure the servo horns? I am stuck and can't think of how to get the barrel to work properly. It actually doesn't work at all for me yet. Thanks for the video and links to all the parts and 3D designs you have created. So helpful and generous of you to post all of your design work for free. I did have to create my own gear for the turret cause I am using the Heng long motor and couldn't fit the turret motor. Not perfect but it works and fun to learn how to do it. I am also documenting all my progress and will hopefully post a video and would love to link your video if that is OK.

    • @ActionRobotPunch
      @ActionRobotPunch  Год назад +1

      That's awesome! I love to hear that more folks are making RC Joe vehicles. To make the barrel move I didn't need or want the plastic nubs that the toy used (13:25 in the video has a really good view of this). The toy relied on friction to hold the barrel and we want smooth movement. I put an axle in the barrel, the hex rod. Then I put the axle through washers on either side - these washers are connected to the hull - glue and some white styrene. Now the barrel can move as the axle rotates in the washers. I used hex because it grips the holes I drilled in the barrel...no slipping. To add the horn to the axle I just drilled a slightly small hole and shoved it on - super tight - but also may have added super glue. Now when the horn is pushed, it causes the axle (hex) to rotate, that causes the barrel to elevate. Hope this helps!

    Probably the most awesome thing ive seen all year! Great work! Question though: what modifications did you have to make to that second choice motor in order to get it to fit and work in the Mauler body? How is it mounted and secured? How are all of the other control items secured, like the ESC, servos, etc? Thanks again!

    • @ActionRobotPunch
      @ActionRobotPunch  2 года назад +2

      Thanks. Mostly things aren't secured :) The ESC, Battery, receiver and just laying in the hull. I was going to secure them but I find it easier to mod and fix things with them not attached. The motor didn't require any modifications and fit. Then I simply secured it with some hot glue, again a non-permanent solution that allows me to remove the component if anything happens. The RC Moray I did is more secured and fixed mostly because it's a boat and I'm worried about water intrusion. Thanks again for watching.

      @@myksanchez1222 Yes, forgot I listed that second motor. I used that on my equalizer and it did require me cutting off the top bit of plastic that supports one of the screws that seals the gear box. Check out my equalizer video at around 2:00 in and you can see the motor mounted in the mauler hull. I also had to remove the "button" that is used to control the Mauler's movements, but that just pops out. Hope this helps. ruclips.net/video/X4GK9RMt_5w/видео.html

    How is power delivered to the servo in the turret that raises the gun? Presumably you don't want any wires running between the hull and the turret that could get tangled when it turns. Are the gun and treads powered independently by two batteries?

    • @ActionRobotPunch
      @ActionRobotPunch  2 года назад +1

      It’s all one power source. I just run a wire up to the turret. It doesn’t spin around a lot so easy to deal with. My flak mauler though has a really fast turret. That’ll get twisted up. There are spinning connectors available but I haven’t been motivated enough to want to rewire it. Thanks for watching.
