- Hiking the Sierra Negra Volcano was one of our favorite adventures in the Galapagos Islands on our tour with Galakiwi! The volcano has the second largest caldera in the world and it is still an active volcano. The hike takes around six hours roundtrip and it was a wonderful adventure to see the wildlife and landscapes in the Galapagos.

That crater was SO cool! I loved the lush, green rim and then the barren, black center. Such a cool site. Are you not allowed to hike down into it? -Brian
It was such a pretty place! You know, I'm not sure if you can hike into it or not--you do have to have a registered guide with you for the hike. We were part of a tour throughout the trip, so we just had the one hike option, but it's possible that there are other hiking paths to take--not 100% sure though, sorry!
