He posed and preened, a sight to see,
In Middle-earth's wild, new spree.
Yet in the shadows, whispers spread,
"Has Sauron lost his mighty head?"
But Sauron, in his wig of gold,
Felt fabulous, and oh so bold.
"Let them laugh, let them jeer,
I'm the chicest Dark Lord here!"
In Rivendell, the elves did snicker,
"Has Sauron joined the trendier ticker?"
But even they could not deny,
That wig gave him a certain...high.
So if you see a shadowed king,
Wearing curls like springtime's fling,
Don't be fooled, and don't be big,
It's Sauron, rocking his new wig!

LOTR will always have the perfect casting. Still find it crazy that Nicolas Cage as Aragorn and Sean Connery as Gandalf was a possibility. I’m a huge Connery fan too, but he would’ve played such an awkward Gandalf imo. Haha Sir Ian McKellen perfected the role, and will always be Gandalf. Viggo will always be Aragorn. Same with the rest of the cast and their roles. John Rhys Davies as Gimli makes me smile everytime.

its because when you only critique the show based on said characters being gay/colored or whatever, that kinda poisons the whole arguement, you're not upset at the media, you're upset that people in it you don't like are in said media. If I wrote a show about a christian dude and used ever stereotype in the book people would complain about it, the same way you can critique it without just basing it off the people.

I bailed in S01E01 after realising her nose was twitching "I hate men" in morse code. The almost audible "ahhhhh..." after wiping the floor with a snow troll with less effort than opening a letter with a scalpel didn't add to the immersion or believability 🤬
It’s not the fact she dispatched the troll so easily (I feel it makes sense, during this “time” Galadriel was older than Legolas and had garnered much experience dealing with such creatures since then.) it’s that she fought in a way that was unconventional to her actual character in the books. She used no words or talismans to defeat the troll and her “elite guard” might as well have been green horn low born men.
OK I´m not saying you made that up, because it would fit really good in the rest of the story, but I do need a bit more background for that. What scene? And how can one twitch in morse code?

Remember the days when a diverse cast was just a cast without queer propaganda and without lecturing? We had a black Vulcan, a female Starfleet Captain, a gay time traveller, all colours, all races all over and no one cared, because the writing was great, the acting was great and no one told us how to live our lives.
The only reason they mentioned diversity is because the journalist baited them with the question and they answered it, the journalist ran with it and made it about the diversity essentially taking the whole interviews out of context.

Tolken's books were set in a mystical world reflecting the high middle ages of northern Europe. But these adaptations have betrayed that legacy by putting in non-white characters who would never have fit into Tolken's world. Are we now going to make a version of Mulan or the Monkey King with lots of non Chinese (black) actors just to be PC? Or how about a movie of the Zulus 150 years ago peppered with random white characters completely out of place in such a setting? I see a double standard.

The passing of Bernard Hill and the reaction to his death is a reminder of the biggest difference in quality between the trilogy and rings of power. When one of the cast of rings of power dies, no one is going to know or care

The Rings of Power is the reason I personally boycotted Amazon Prime video content. They wasted so much money on this failure, they charged members extra money to remove ads that were never there in the first place under the constantly rising Prime membership fee so they could recoup their losses. I didn’t finish season 1 and I only plan to find out what happens from Gary’s hilarious reviews.

Imagine time travelling back 20 years and trying to convince people that every production of Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Doctor Who, Aliens, and more would be complete trash focused on identity and the only enjoyment people got out of them was endlessly mocking their shittiness.

Some makeup, costuming, and attitude adjustments would have made a big difference. It's mostly the woman doing her best impression of a man act that ruins it because it reflects a common trend with single women today
I kinda feel bad for her. Imagine being cast as Galadriel, a symbol of femininity and feminine power only to end up tangled in this shitshow of a show. You can clearly see that she wasn't very happy when she had to anounce, that there is a tempest in her.
She could still carry it off despite her stature if she were a better actress and carried herself with confidence, strength and dignity. She is badly miscast, and the poor girl knows it.
My favorite part was when Guyladriel called the emergency meeting and all the other elves sussed out the imposter, after she found a wig on the forge floor.
And the part where Guyladriel said she was 'kenough' brought chills down my spine.

The Annatar character is so mid-looking. He's supposed to be so dazzlingly beautiful that he's able to easily fool the Elves, aka "The Wisest and Fairest of All Beings."

He is not, however, the kind of ethereal elegant looks that one of the Maiar, in their fair form, should have. And given that it's just "same actor in a wig" then the plot is all confused; if Sauron was there before as Annatar, then how did Galadriel not recognise him as Halbrand? If Sauron has come back now as Annatar, same problem: Celebrimbor saw Halbrand up close, how can he not recognise "Huh - this guy looks exactly like Halbrand"?

Who would follow her Guy-ladriel into a pillow fight, let alone a real battle? It's obvious that no one who worked on this show ever served a day in the military. (You have to laugh at the delusions they had about this character. They thought they were making the ultimate badass, girlboss/Yass Queen Slay, She-Elf/warrior-woman, but instead they created arguably the most unlikeable and ridiculous combo of a Mary Sue and a Karen.)

The three Elven rings were forged AFTER the 16 lesser rings, bloody amazon couldn't even get that right!

That is the least atrocious bastardizing of the 2nd Age time line. Sauron was already established in Middle Earth 600 years before he took Elvish form and forged the rings of power (and his presence was well known to be there by its inhabitants. It was no secret). Then he was defeated a 100 years later, took refuge and finished Bar-radur, then another 1700 years passed before he was defeated and taken to Numenor as a prisoner and THEN we see Isildur and Elendil on the scene. The ROP series mushes it altogether and completely out of order in events, and throws in Gandalf and a Balrog (who didn't even show up until the 3rd Age) for good measure.
How could they. They didn't even read past the cover of the first book or even one wiki page

The concept comes from Morgoth unable to create 'life' like elves and men as children of Iluvatar. It's in Ainulindale the 1st chapter of the Silmarillion.

I think people not recognizing Sauron with his new wig and ears is quite plausible. I mean if Clark Kent can get away with just wearing glasses, Bruce Wayne by only changing the tone of his voice and Hal Jordan with the little eye mask then why not. The Rings of Power writers stole from South Park (remember "they took our jobs,") and ripped off scenes from the Peter Jackson films. People are mostly stupid and couldn't possibly see through the costume change. So lets be quiet and not spoil it for the audience Amazon so desperately needs.
My favorite part is when Sauron told Guyladrial that they needed 1.21 gigawatts of electricity so we could go back in time and make this show not exist.

The trailer beautifully shows what has been wrong with the show and is going to be wrong again. They treat and think of LotR as the same as some generic fantasy action popcorn cinema blockbuster. They grasp for their formulas and they are failing gloriously.

The best part of this show is that Galadriel was searching for Sauron for 1000 years, but couldn't recognize him when he was literally hanging out with her for a few weeks- the question becomes, how many times has he shown up and she not recognize him? Has he been stalking her for a thousand years? That is a series I would watch... also that poor search party who clearly just want to go home- and have no idea who they are looking for

Love it. You're on point and funny, with class. At some point you really delivered something deep. I particularly like the zoom shot of an actor who plays Durin, while Disa was giving her speech. The expressions on that guy's face were showing some real emotions and they said it all right there. I have quit Rings of Power after episode 4 and my head hurts from everything I've seen. Meanwhile, the real Lord of the Rings remains among the best works of literature and cinema, and it's my favourite story ever. Watching the lighting of beacons at the end of your video reminded me why. There is so much greatness conveyed in the scene. The sense of honour, courage and glory that portrays gave me the rush! It's pure art. It's pure beauty. And we will always have that.

I'd like to say that the Tolkien Estate fought the good fight and kept hack TV producers from destroying the Professor's legacy...but Hollywood is no fairy tale.

Making a show set in an era you didn't buy the rights for (The Silmarillion) for the sole purpose of making up your own story and inserting your own politics, then slapping LOTR on the title and expecting the audience you disrespected to support it was an awful idea! This surprised no one; only Amazon.

The rights problem doesn't realy add up either, concidering that the Appendices has the entire timeline of the second age, and a handy summary about Numenor and it's people, and some more stuff.

i dispise 'rings of power' as the next guy, but i don't think it's the fault of the actress playing gladrial, from the interviews that she has given both for this show and other projects that she was part of it seems as tho she is one of the few normal actress in this series, its just she was given a bad hand, she is just doing a job

Not some solider girl...but a proper noble woman and 'queen' except bearing no title of one...she technically is under the High King of the Noldor anyway, but since she is also a member of royalty she is family with Gil-galad with high position.
Who gives a crap whether it is 'woke' or not? If you think that is the biggest problem with ROP, you can't be much of a Tolkien fan. The horror of this show is the complete disregard for the events, characters and chronology of the 2nd Age and taking events of the 3rd Age and throwing them in to boot. Everyone whining about feminism, black elves and hobbits, girl power and woke-ism are totally missing the major issue of the show completely disregarding the written source material, twisting it and destroying it.

I did not know King Theoden actor died. RIP - he did such an amazing job as Theoden, it was my favorite character arc, the king who was afraid of death until he wasn't, and the parting words of "I go to my fathers, in whose mighty company I shall not now feel ashamed".
