- From 2007 to 2017 this bike has dominated the middle weight naked scene. Here's a little recap of this lord of the light weight's evolution so far, from its first steps in 2007 to its controversial face lift in 2012 full body tightening in 2013 all the way up to its reincarnation for 2017.

I tried the 'R' version like this one but didn't like it, I thought it was too harsh, the standard version was so much better it felt like a different bike, possibly because I'm only 60 kilos, I bought it new in 2009 it's got 40k miles on it now, the valves haven't need adjusting and apart from the regulator which was replaced free it's never let me down, I don't need any modes or fancy electrickery so I don't want a newer one, it's a keeper!
Am looking to buy a 2013 675r....but love the round headlights and cans at the back on yours!
I owned a 63 plate with the stretched lights which I wasn’t as keen on. Bought a second had set of bug eyes, got them powder coated black and fitted them. Best looking mod I did.
They split a crowd don't they. I quite like the new one for the looks actually, they've got the angle just right on the headlights.
Yeah the stretch always reminded me of johnny 5s eyebrows from short circuit
Definitely the two round headlight it’s a signature...it’s like a Mercedes symbol
Agreed.
How they changed it is very stupid they could of at least kept the style but just made them more modern like to honda neo cafe lights
Great review, really useful information, and a fantastic bike!
It was a brilliant bike, I definitely miss owning that one.
This bike is fantastic, got the 08 model had it 6 years, it’s now got 43k on the clock, never had an issue. Its a keeper !
Did u do the 40.000km maintainance? i found one on second hand with 37000km and im afraid of paying like 500 euros in 3000km? reliability problems? sth to change?
@@kolour7611 I did the spark plugs, new oil and oil filter, new air filter and new coolent. It’s still not had valve clearnesses done but it sounds great still. Really depends on how it’s been looked after. The triple engine is very reliable, I’ve had no issues!
@@divexplore21probably shouldn’t the valves at some point, just adjusted a couple of them on my Tiger 800 and I swear she’s ripping much more power suddenly. Engine feels and sounds so like brand new again.
@@nathanwhitley3358 Yeah I really should get them done, bikes at 52K now, still going strong! The Tigers a great bike! 👍
I just picked up the 2010 R model and it was well taken care of besides losing side ferrings and all 4 blinkers. Throttle could use adjustment but otherwise I think I got a solid deal for this even more solid triple. 10k miles.
It's hard to find them with low mileage, sounds like you've done well there.
I just bought one with 7200 miles. they are a great bike.
Great bike . I am buying one this week . 2008 16000 miles mint kept in the house when not ridden LOL
Currently looking at a 2007 with 15k on the clock. Great vid. Hope I'm making the right choice. Had my 650r Ninja throw a rod 2 days ago. Time for an upgrade.
No i'd say you're making a good choice. It's a nice little upgrade from the Ninja, decent boost in power, I just hope you get on with the engines delivery and riding position.
Think I'll be right with it. The Ninja 650r is a sport tourer upright riding. I've become used to it. Grip points and power delivery is something you need to get used to on any bike you sit on for the first time.
@@8bittoaster Yep. Then it's definitely going to put a smile on your face. Enjoy.
@@RarefiedRoad picked it up today and oh my god it's gorgeous. Fell right into it like I've been riding it for years. Defininately made the right choice. 2007 model, 15k on the clock for $5000 aud. Fantastic bike.
@@8bittoaster awesome, glad you like it. I remember riding mine for the first time and absolutely loving it. It'll be a fair while before you find anything better, trust me.
Loving the colour of yours
Thanks Paul. I don't often see the satin finish ones, really helps it stand out.
Beautiful bike 😍
I'm 6ft 3 in tall and 200lb. Will this bike fit me ok ?
I sure like the look, specs, and reviews of this bike.
Just bought this exact same bike same couler and everything
should i still go for a 2010 street triple r with 15 000km, even though the nearest Triumph dealer is 2h away from home? ;)
I'm always gonna say yes, but then I am bias mate :)
Yes changing the lights ...it’s like tearing down my Mercedes symbol on my E350...
Exactly
someday i'm gonna own this bike
Same here, it’s on my bucket list of bikes. There are still very nice first gen sitting around.
Had one of these for a year before it was stolen while parked overnight in London. Good bike and you're spot on about the fantastic torque/bhp benefits of the triple engine. Have you ridden a V4? Imo they're even better in this respect. I now ride a 1999 VFr800 (pre Vtech) and the low end torque/high end bhp combination is even better. The last 3 bikes Ive owned have all been VFRs for this reason.
I actually haven't tried a V4 yet but I am itching to borrow one. I feel like I may hunt down a VFR in the future because I think I'd like that bike a lot.
@@RarefiedRoadWell if you're ever in the Watford area you can have a day on mine with pleasure but it sure as hell ain't no minter :)
@@MrBoybergs That's a really kind offer. I'm not too far from Watford so I may take you up on that.
@@RarefiedRoad Any time you like :)
Thanks for the info. Will help me make the right choice.
No problem. They're great bikes
Do you think it would be a feasible idea to change the front or rear sprocket to help reduce the tendency for pulling wheelie's.
Yeah changing the rear sprocket is always an option, obviously it will change the character a little, you might find the later 2012 models a little easier to get on with as they have a taller first gear which helps.
VFR man......good bloke! :))
Love the disco m8
Thank you, was making do with free music options at this point. Good old BenSound
Rarefied Road i hear that. Ya, i just bought a 2010 speed triple last yr. Its a torque monster.. Been pretty reliable so fare aswell
Nice. I really fancy getting a speed triple at some point, judging by how much I enjoy my Street Triple I think I could really get on with it. I'll take a 3 cylinder bike any day of the week.
great video :D
Thanks.
thanks was interesting and helpful video and you funny guy! i have sub to you. thank you.
Thanks for subscribing. Glad you found it helpful.
it came out in 2007 actually...
My, bad, it's the R version, you're right, 2009!
