      @dbissex 11 месяцев назад

      @@GORILLAZ41 no. Aliens are not the "resist" position, because "this theory makes the most sense to me" is not the resist position. A "resist" position requires hard, verifiable evidence to move away from it. In the case of alien visitors to earth, there is zero such evidence at all.
      It is absolutely true that the likelihood by sheer probability that something we would label as life exists somewhere else in our galaxy, but that same analysis tells us the likelihood they even know we're here is basically zero. Again, we get back to needing real, positive evidence of visitation, not arguments from incredulity.

    Out here in Colorado at Carter lake, one of our deepest man-made reservoirs, has a town at the bottom of it...
    Standing at three miles long and about one mile wide, this beautiful 1,100-acre reservoir is surrounded by 1,000 acres of public lands. It's a great place for fishing, sailing, water skiing, camping, picnicking, swimming, scuba diving, and rock climbing.
    It would be awesome to go down and check it out, but then again it is roughly 180 ft at its deepest point, can get cold as hell, and some divers swear the catfish can get so big that they will never dive in there again for fear of being eaten, even if only by accident.

    Woody! If you have trouble finding the video of what I mentioned earlier (I had some trouble finding it again myself) it's titled "Did the Soviet Union Discover Aliens In the Deepest Lake in the World? | UFO'S: The Lost Evidence" on a channel called Quest TV. The video is from a real documentary, not made by a RUclipsr so it's done very professionally. This took place in Lake Baikal in 1982. 7 Soviet military divers saw a group of 9 foot tall alien-like creatures deep in the water, I don't remember the depth but it was deep, and they were shot up to the surface by an unknown force when they tried to capture one. It would be amazing to see you and Gus react to this, especially Gus because we know how he feels about this sort of thing lol.

      They moved those stones hundreds of miles, over water, and then managed to lift and place them perfectly to align with the sun on a particular day- if that's not interesting to you then something is wrong. It's not about the how- it's about the "why"- think of the resources, man hours, lives it must've cost- why was it that important? Typically for an animal to spend that much energy on something it must be crucial to the survival of themselves and the species as a whole- so what function did this thing serve? Perhaps it served as a means of promoting social bonds and reinforcing some kind of societal hierarchy- and if so what does that say about humans that we needed that to survive? Stone Hinge is fascinating to me if you can't tell- just like the pyramids or the Mayan ruins it offers us a glimpse into a very complex history that explains how society evolved into what it is today.

    Okay so I need to do a hard disagree with Gus on the Stonehenge thing. Most of the "mystery" surrounding the site is kept up by old wives tales and misinformation. Archaeologists actually know quite a bit about why the site might have been built, how it was constructed, and its usage over time. And the tourist trap ticket prices go to a foundation that helps to pay for upkeep of the site and future excavation in the area so we can keep learning more about the history of the ancient people of the area.
    If you're not into history or archaeology then it's definitely fair to skip it, but making it out to be completely overblown because it isn't your taste isn't really fair. Getting up close and personal to things built thousands of years before you and standing in the same places people would have stood all those years ago- it's a hell of an experience, and for a lot of people it's worth the 5 quid at the door to make sure that future generations can experience the same feeling.

    • @DIVETALK
      @DIVETALK  2 года назад +2

      Even if you pay whatever it is you still cant get anywhere near the stones tho... I understand why not but not a great experience trooping round a footpath with loads of other people. lesser known monuments not subject to that kind of management are way more interesting

    • @fancyflautist
      @fancyflautist 2 года назад +1

      @@AmityAmy I understand where you're coming from, and it's definitely worth it to find smaller sites if you're interested in the subject. The reason they have to keep people so far from the stones is the history of vandalism and also the danger that so many humans being so close can pose to the site. Preservation for future generations has to be weighed against access and education, especially at these incredibly popular tourist sites

  • @jumpingspider7105

    Mastodons only went extinct ~10,000 years ago. The first humans in North America almost certainly interacted with these and other megafauna (e.g giant ground sloths, saber tooth tigers, wooly mammoths, many many others).
    Its a cool discovery but perfectly plausible that human made structures exist below the great lakes, and that their *could* be petroglyphs of now extinct megafauna. The water level has varied dramatically over geological time. Before the glaciers melted to fill up the lakes they would have been exposed.
