Rachel Jeantel did NOT come across as honest. She came across as a liar. The defense lawyers caught her repeatedly in contradictory statements. That's why she kept giving hostile looks to the defense lawyers: she didn't approve of getting caught. She didn't like it when her contradictory statements were exposed, however politely.
And not only did she tell obvious lies, Jeantel was very conspicuously evasive. She stalled frequently by pretending not to hear or to understand the defense attorney, although he certainly spoke louder, more crisply, and with better attention to effective diction than she did. She evaded questions that were asked by giving answers to questions that were not asked. She occasionally editorialized in a protracted way, making emotional filibusters in lieu of providing direct answers to simple questions.
I had to chuckle when Susan Constantine said "There are so many pieces to the story that are Just Not Fitting..." Indeed. That's what happens when you lie a lot. The pieces of your story just don't fit. Someone smarter than you are will notice. And nearly anyone is smarter than Rachel Jeantel. In these CNN "polls" that appear to show that the public had faith in Jeantel's honesty, I smell a bias-rat somewhere in the statistics, possibly in the selection of the sample.

She speaks a variation of English that is practiced by millions of Americans. You and I don’t speak HER version of English, but it doesn’t make us any less of a person for not speaking it. She isn’t bilingual and speaks her English. Most the people on this strand only speak the English they were raised with, too. They’re no different than she is, except that they’re the majority.

@@thislibraissomodest6046 Well, a LOT about this case never added up. The evidence showed that Zimmerman made some very bad decisions, but it clearly didn't show he was guilty of murder. Which is why the DA refused to press charges. The state had to appoint someone else in order to get charges pressed against him. Then when it was clear Zimmerman had good representation and that he probably wasn't going to be found guilty on the serious charges, the state tried to toss in new charges in the middle of the trial.
There was clearly a ton of pressure to get a guilty verdict at any cost. So, I can completely understand why they would want to look at this case after the fact with a fine tooth comb.
Personally, I think they should have just charged him with something a lot lower like reckless endangerment, or something like that. Florida has automatic extensions to verdicts where a gun was involved. Zimmerman would probably still be in jail right now.
She said in court herself that she wasn’t his real girlfriend, and that he already had one. It didn’t just come out. You just heard it.

The unedited film of her testimony shows she can't sit still, she spins and rocks her chair like a child, she rolls her eyes at the attorneys and judge and gives disdainful looks, and sitting in a chair answering questions for a few hours is such a Herculean effort for her that she can't do it. She also has the attention span of a gnat. Her testimony should NEVER determine the fate of a defendant.
2:25 Positive tweets about her testimony are not evidence of people "supporting her" or "coming to her side." Anchors should be presenting the facts, not making assumptions and steering the conversation.

Your notion that George Zimmerman was NOT guilty of a homocide against a teenager is right from the buttockshole of the Devil. George Zimmerman was not found guilty...only because of the INFLUENCE of his FATHER, the magistrate who who had so many in the palm of his hands and under the SOLES of his shoes. That of course, included those of the police department of that town, those RICHER criminals (friends of that magistrate) who chose to raise big amounts of $$$$ to defend a MURDERER. A crushing blow to the prosecution was the choice of a jury with NO Black people and a single Hispanic who told the World that the chief juror PRESSURED her to give a NOT GUILTY verdict on behalf of the MURDERER, George Zimmerman. That Puerto Rican woman went on television to express how guilty she felt for bending to the pressure of an almost 100% WHITE jury. Since the only person who testified on behalf of the deceased did not really have command of standard English, some, rather embracing the truth that she divulged, chose to denigrate her character. There was another who claimed "Georgie" was a nice person. Yet she was NOT there, when George ZIMMERMAN followed Trayvon many blocks while questioning as to why he was in the neigborhood where is biological father lived.
The defense went on to dwell on the use of "cracker" from the victim to describe George Zimmerman's pursuit of him. If I were representing the victim, I would have pointed to the quadrillion of times, when Blacks have been called NIGGER and countless racial slurs and how the use of "craker" as one who is persecuting Blacks should have been understandable. I do not think that the prosecution did even a mediocre job. George Zimmerman lied to his teeth; he asserted that Trayvon fought him...bashing his head to the asphalt. Yet he had NO evidence of a bashed head or even a mark or two. In the defense's effort to free Zimmerman, they claimed he was on prescription drugs that could be VIOLENCE inducive.
The pathologist, part of the conspiracy and friends of that magistrate and those accumlating $$$ to support Zimmerman supported Zimmerman story that Trayvon was on top of him, when he fired his gun and killed him. The most LOGICAL question for the entire court should have been this: WHY did Zimmerman follow Trayvon in the first place and what gave him the right to think that he did NOT belong in that neighborhood? To this day, certain neighborhood VIGLANTES still murder Afro-Americans who are walking , jogging and running up and down a vicinity considered WHITE.
It is the most pitiful of things that some of those Blacks who were and are supportive of the MURDERER accepted bribes to do so. GEORGE Zimmerman went on to have a few bout with the law...one in which he attacked a White male during a traffic and promising to kill him. In my estimation, Blacks in the US are punks. If anyone had murdered my SON or anyone of my close relatives in Italy or in the USA, I would ascertain that "an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth" was his goodbye REMEDY on this Earth.

As Susan Constatine pointed out the obvious, the prosecution did not prepare their own witnesses. I am so very sorry that this young man died for no reason at all, but the minute he decided to play tough guy and go after Z, he sealed his own fate. If a man were following me, the LAST thing I would do is lie in wait and start a fight with him. I also believe that the reason Diamond avoided the funeral and was so fidgety on the stand was because of her own feelings of guilt for encouraging Trayvon to go after Z.

I have a suspicion that she suggested to Trayvon in some way that he should confront Zimmerman. She once said she felt "guilty" about what happened to Trayvon. Why would she feel like that unless she said something that got him killed?
I also would LOVE to hear the phone call as well. I think it would blow the prosecution's case out of the water, as if it wasn't already blown enough.

She was asked repeatedly to speak louder and slower, how hard of a concept is that. I'll give her kudos for getting up there and giving testimony. Also since a jury found Zimmerman innocent, why are the feds going to go after them. Justice isn't about getting your way. There was reasonable doubt that this was done in self-defense. But politicians love making issues to divide us all.

I remember that, I felt the same way, someone didn't witness prep her knowing she's not comfortable up there and didn't help wen the next witness was an older articulate sounding Caucasian man I believe was on Zimmermans side, but still not everyone is from the same place or has the same upbringing and that's not her fault, the prosecution should of recognized this early on and prepped her a lot, or maybe they did and she just was who she was

Its kind of hard to walk away when someone get in your path with a gun. You cant plead self defense when you are the aggressor.
