Beautiful UV layout! That few minutes of seeing the 2D view gives a wonderful look at professional layouts. Not many tutorials cover what good UV mapping looks like. Thank you.
Am I missing something? The layout has a lot of wasted space - packing could be done better and have more resolution for the final texture. The only excuse I see is that there is second UV layout for the stand and the artist wanted to keep everything normalized relatively to each other.
I love your guy's videos, tutorials and podcasts! You've helped me grow from a total noob at 3d to be alright / decent within a month and a half! Idk about you two but lately I've been looking at the world as if it were covered in wireframe. Just imagining it all the time. I go to the bathroom and I look at the toilet thinking "hmm, I wonder what this would look like in Shaded Wireframe in Maya", lol
@@FlippedNormals Thank you too! I appreciate all of your time you're putting into these! Lol, now I know what to look forward to, I've been wanting to learn anatomy but I feel baby steps is the way to go for now and soak in all the current information. Plus this tutorial helped a lot because I'm making gaming assets from start to finish and designed a logo in illustrator. Only after importing it into Painter, did I realize the mask had to be inverted. Little things :)
@FlippedNormals , if you don't use the metallic channel button, the logo will take the property of metal by default(but it is not displayed in the metal channel). The upper layer receives the channels of the lower layer. This also works with dielectrics
Everytime I try to paint it doesnt paint straight, I've tried holding shift and it paints more than 1, I've also tried CTRL left click to straighten the brush but it just wont go on straight using, 6.2.2
when is the new series coming out. because am about to buy your first series later on tonight..? should you suggest I'll wait or start hitting the one you already have or just wait till this new one comes out?? thanks cheers lots!
@@FlippedNormals sounds great! But will it cover the following topics. Applying hdri, anchor points, opacity and all those fun topics. if so, ill wait!! Thank you..
but the series would be "basic" or there will be some more advanced things too? (or ideas to use tools in different ways), any chance for substance designer in the future?
We are covering a bit of everything in it: Two main parts with around 20 videos. Part one covers how to use the software and in part two, we show you how to make the fan youre seeing in this video.
for some reason the alpha is not showing up when hovering over the mesh, it's just blank? cannot work out what's wrong, tried a PNG with no background and one with a black background neither work.
This is honestly an unbelievably good tutorial. I mean I've been using substance painter for a while now, and I am definitely not a pro by any means, but this video really explains concepts and tools in such a great way that I've never thought about before. Thank you for this, like 3D philosophy!
@@pakman4600 Yup, use and abuse brushes and layers. Use ctrl+right click and drag up / down for Hardness. And use ctrl+right click and move your cursor left and right to adjust your brush size
I'm honestly really disappointed with the discord community you guys have. I had an apparently very controversial opinion about SP and I was since yelled at, told to F*ck off and have been banned. So great vid, I hope yall can consider looking into @julie as a mod on the discord as I have had more than one issue with her over using her power.
I'm very hyped for that upcoming series of Substance Painter. I think I'll finally be able to understand texturing there with you guys teaching
Thank you Lucas! We're very excited to finish it off.
@@FlippedNormals free or paid
When is it dropping???@@FlippedNormals
cant wait till you guys put out the Intro to Painter, its always concise and crazy informative content on this channel
Awesome! Thank you Kide.

Great teamwork! Good job. Thank you. : )
Thank you so much for this video, was having trouble finding useful accurate information on how to do this.

It's coming out in a few days! We recommend waiting with buying it, as the new one will replace the old one.

What’s the hotkey for toggling through and viewing the different maps?
you can display the channels by pressing "C" and for material "M"
