As a peri-menopausal woman, strength training and walking work best for me. Too much cardio seems to increase my cortisol too much and leaves me famished. 😮 I strength train 2 to 3 times a week, walk 3 times a day (20-30 mins.), and stick to a higher protein diet, because it's harder for me to gain muscle right now, make sure I get 25-30 grams of fiber in each day, & try my darnedest to stay away from those devilish processed foods. 😅 Which can be a challenge with three teenagers in the house. 🙃
Love this, the times that I've been successful in maintaining 140 lbs (my goal weight) have been the times I'm eating large healthy meals, no snacks, and regular walks. Now that I'm 40, I'm shifting to higher protein to feel full and energetic. I'm increasing fruits and vegetables. Agree processed foods are addicting and make me want to binge.
Yes! Eating the right foods is satiating. I don't eat ultra processed foods on my anti-inflammatory eating plan. So far I have lost over 55 pounds in less than 2 years. I love eating this way, and it doesn't even seem like a diet with my eating all natural foods.
Wow Autumn, I watch your videos every Tuesday and Thursday and just realized how looong your hair has gotten. Beautiful. It must be your great nutrition and the pregnancy.😊 Happy New Year 🎊
Autumn, you consistently produce the most common sense videos with positivity, facts, and steps to make good nutrition encouraging and doable. I have been following you several years and feel blessed to have found you! Thank you, and I wish you the happiest and healthiest New Year with your beautiful family🎉!!
Awesome Video Autumn...thank you for these fabulous reminders. Looking forward to the 6-week body recompostion coming up Monday, January 6, 2025!! Woo hoo...I have never felt better. Thank you for sharing your wonderful wealth of knowledge!! 🥰
Your information has been so helpful! Thank you. I know your family is young but I would love to see some content that discusses family nutrition. Like what do kids need verses parents and how to make it work without cooking completely different meals.
You mentioned something very important here. You will come across calorie counting individuals who are heavy on cardio, but absolute weaklings (because of muscle loss). Resistance / Strength training is the trick….lift some weights people! Build that muscle.
Autumn, I absolutely love your videos and all your content. Could you talk a tiny bit slower? I don’t know if it’s because I have ADD but my brain can’t seem to work as fast as your voice. Sorry if that’s dumb but if you could talk a tiny bit slower, that would be amazing
I make homemade muffins and energy balls for a sweet treat with no flour except a tad almond flour and no sugar just some pure maple syrup. What’s your thoughts on just doing like one or two of these a day? I make these with clean ingredients like 4 or 5 ingredients. I just got to have a little something in moderation 😕
Are you advocating a keto diet to lose weight? Or simply a low carb, high protein diet and moderate fats? You said something interesting that goes along the lines of "eat towards your goals". So, if I understand correctly, low glycemic load carbs when looking to lose weight, but moderate to high glycemic load carbs for maintenance or building muscle?
Hi @autumn! Curious: for protein needs is it frequency of exercise more important than duration or intensity of the workout? For eg a 15 min workout 6x a week vs 1 hr 3x a week means you exercise half as much in the former compared to the latter but in the protein calc 6x per week is considered active yet 3x is considered moderate. Can you explain this more please? Thanx!! 😊
I just heard that if you drink coffee you should do it one hour before eating a meal because there’s something in coffee that can inhibit the body from fully absorbing certain vitamins and minerals in your food. Is this true?
Most people have sugar with their coffee. Sugar uptake can compete with certain nutrients uptake. Coffee also contains polyphenols, which bind to non-heme iron, the type of iron found in plant foods, blocking iron uptake. However, caffeine doesn't affect heme iron uptake, which is found in meat. Caffeine can also deplete vitamin B6 as part of a hormonal response. Very hot drinks can deactivate some vitamins absorption. Finally, the acidity of coffee can cause the body to extract calcium from bones to balance blood pH. So yes, it's possible that coffee can reduce nutrient uptake.
We are lazy. we don't use our bodies for physical work and eat too much bad food. a few hours at a fitness center doesn't help either and is not mentally satisfying in the long run. We have simply become lazy..

I’ve been looking for a clear plan like this. Thank you for breaking it down step by step!

“It’s really hard to eat addictive foods in moderation.” That’s really the essence of our problem.

Autumn - Happy New Year! Long time watcher - love your videos 🤩🤩 Do you still do individual coaching? I’d be interested if you do.

If that is what it takes to keep you on track for the long term, do it.

but a true Ketogenic diet is technically High Fat, Moderate Protein, Low Carb
Was this baby weight? I found that nursing took the pounds off with sensible eating an exercise.
Thank you for this video. Quick question: how to know if I am carb sensitive? Thanks!
Hi! You can take my free carb sensitivity quiz here: www.autumnellenutrition.com/post/carb-sensitivity-quiz
