    WOW he married into the family from hell. If I were him I'd walk and never look back except to sue that b _ _ _ _ h who told the insane woman he married about his student. You get smarter when you get older.

    Really enjoyed this. Didn't know who to believe and who to mistrust. Phillip Glenister brilliant as always, In fact all of the leads were, especially bratty Scarlett.
    Guess at the very end he didn't stay with Lindsey Coulson. Shame.

    Only thing I found unrealistic was that police didn't have her boyfriend as suspect as well as the 2 'dads'. I had him marked and the police would have too.

    Another great role for Philip Glenister - all that beleagered quiet intensity (I hope I'm not giving too much away to say how good he is at playing complex decency), lovely closeups, and a satisfying resolution (considering there was no going back after all that mistrust). It definitely kept me guessing, except that I eliminated Glenister from the get-go, never mind the title; it just wasn't in him - but I wouldn't have put anything past the stepdaughter, who was an appalling brat.

      Me too. I did suspect the killer from the get go, but there were some odd twists to get there. I also didn't get why they kept the police out of it. Surely they need the police to provide evidence in court. And what happened about the fire incident? I assume it is not usual for Family to do that to suspects, and that must leave Them open to charges. Thanks to them, the police lost loads of evidence that may have solved other crimes. yes, I know it is fiction, but it stretched credulity at times, and as soon as there is a cliiff and a car you know we are in for Thelma and Louise! Good acting, and I still watched it right through, so it has something, as often I turn crime stuff off because you know who done it in the first 5 minutes. It then takes an hour of unlikely scenarios to solve it. This kept me there, because I didn't know how they were going to resolve it.

      @Frenchblue8 9 лет назад +14

      I agree about Maggie. Couldn't tell if the character was just that vapid and unsure of herself, or the actress was just very poorly-directed. Her only good moment was when they came to the door and said theyd found a body - her reaction was spot on. the HUGE issue there was the\em all waiting around for The Big Phonecall that it was or wasn't Scarlett? What, they can't tell the difference between long, light colored hair and short, black mixed race hair without DNA tests, dental records o and identifying moles, scars or tattoos? Also there were so many Maggie moments where she - or at least I, as a woman - would have been completely gutted seeing the man I loved going through such agony. Wonder if she ever apologised to him for all the anger, distrust, and withdrawl of affection. Wonder if Scarlett ever gets 'treatment' for her anti-social personality disorder. I also got a brand new stepdad at 15, and, while I wasn't crazy about the whole thing at first, I was I think, mature enough to see that everyone needed time to see how it would all work (not to mention the fact that it would have never even occurred to me to pull the shit that nutcase Scarlett pulled.)

    The wife seems to be actually looking for things to blame on her new husband! She just can't believe that he would do anything, out of the goodness of his heart.
    And, this man seems to have a huge heart and great compassion but honestly, that can only stretch so far before something breaks!

    Interesting film, but little love lost for the bratty Scarlet, and her lying mate Anita (which didn't end well for her), plotting against Dougie because she didn't like him.
    But eventually the truth came out, but no clue if he and Maggie got back together again, I don't think I would in his situation, because of all the mistrust.
    A few red herrings, but all in all, not a bad film to watch.

    Teens need to learn from it. You want to be popular, attractive, vibrant and sometimes crazy. You reckon what elders say are all heck and bossy. But they want good of you by their vast life experiences and blood links. Leash your bristling temper and vigor of youth. Develope own individuality, nurture it; your creativity will make you unique and popular. You need not to run after popularity, popularity will run after you. Instead of going ruined, in this vast world with diverse people, you will always find someone ready to love and care for you. Cheers
