I converted my Felt DD fat bike to a 29+ with i45 rims and 3 inch tyres. When it was time to change tyres I put a 2.8 Rekon on the front and a 2.6 Ikon on the back. I was concerned the Ikon might give a dodgy profile on the wide rims but it's actually fine, although I wouldn't go any narrower. For the ride sensations I can confirm everything Josh says.

Happy New Year , I have 2.6 on the front & 2.35 on the rear for me it makes a big difference on tarmac drag ,but I also use a cane creek suspension seat post but then I'm 60 & I love it .plus mudguards make a huge difference when it comes to keeping dry a clean . I'm also thinking of swapping my Jones bar out for a bamboo handlebar .

Good to see you back, happy NY. Having considered 3" tyres as I have p[enty of 'clearance' on my hardtail, your thoughts have kindly made me think twice before going to the expense and hassle of switching tyres. Thanks, and a flat free 2024!

Happy New Year🎉 Nice rundown on the tires and mud clearance. So many bike manufacturers make a gravel bike that is just a beefy road bike with tires too narrow and gears not low enough. And as always, a well done video.
And to all those that will point out the spelling of cleanse.(everybody does it) Just say you did it on purpose to see who is paying attention.😅
    Cheers 🌞🚴‍♀️🖖

HNY, Great video mate. I have the Saracen Mantra, a very old bike fitted with 26x2.2 tires. Swept back handle bars with shock stop suspension stem. Great little ride with rockshox air 120mm forks. I use it all year round in all weathers.

hi Josh, are those the Sonder Confucius or Sonder scope cargo handlebars?

Hi Josh. Can't wait to see what you have planned for 2024. Do you ever wish you had some front suspension, does that put you off certain routes not having it?

nope the volume in these tyres help a lot when things get really rough, and suspension forks is just another moving part that i can't be bothered to maintain.

The Redshift suspension seatpost and stem have been one of the best bike purchases I've ever made.

I've been watching your channel for a long time, and watched with interest the evolution of your bicycles. I still ride a 1995 Trek 930 Singletrack, but components are getting hard to find, and I'd really like to upgrade to a 29" wheel and better geometry and drivetrain. I've been eyeing the Bombtrack Beyond+ ADV ever since you first reviewed it, but have found it impossible to find here in Japan (both the Bombtrack distributer here in Japan and Bombtrack official in Germany told me they cannot order it or send it, so I have no idea how to obtain one, aside from going to Europe and buying one in person). I am simultaneously looking at the Surley Ogre, Tumbleweed Prospecter (probably way out of my budget!), Salsa Fargo, Ritchey Ascent, Kona Sutra (I used to ride drops, but not sure I want to go back), or, just possibly, the Bike Friday All-Packa (I also ride a New World Tourist, and it handles almost like a high-end bicycle in most cases). If you would buy a bicycle again, would you buy the Beyond+ ADV again, and go for a 29+ wheel size again? Or would you go for something different?

Can you recommend a retailer for bombtrack bikes? They seem fairly rare in uk stores, really like the look of ‘24 audax / hook

i bought my audax frame online from a place called lyon, they have a couple hooks on sale at the moment in L/XL. I got this bombtrack second hand though. The woods Cyclery in the new forest is another option they didn't have dates/timelines when i was looking to buy this bombtrack though.
