Anyone who says you're to picky on your hand position has never done 1000 miles in a day. Arm and hand position is what sets your back posture. Gotta be comfortable!
Listen, details and adjustment are what is important. Risers to adjust hand position is something that needs fine tuning. Your headlamp is a good example. You installed it,folks mentioned it was pointed low, you adjusted it perfectly, and it is a totally different experience.
I did a 20-day trip recently, 10,000 miles around America and Canada. I would recommend a few things since I done it on a Harley Davidson Heritage 114. 1: Check your tires. With all the weight you'll have on the back, you're going to be burning the tread on them much quicker. I changed mine to a fresh set just before the trip and it barely lasted the whole 10k. 2: Invest in a toursuit. I bought a tourmaster toursuit and it was ideal for every condition. 3 layers, base layer, which is the shell, waterproof layer, and thermal layer. The thermal and waterproof can be zipped out depending on conditions. 3: Do an engine oil change at the bare minimum. From PA to California, I went down south and across. 5000 miles and did an oil change in California. The oil was dark as hell 😂. These are the few points I had, but I'm sure you're experienced and would have a plan for this. I just wanted to give my 2 cents. Hope you guys have a great trip and ride safe 🤙🏽
@HOLYSHIFT Absolutely, life changing experience. It's like everytime you come back from a tour you learn something different about yourself and your mentally changes completely.
Sandy, love your channel and glad you're over the virus.👍🏾 Gotta say though, I'll bet that after you're a week or two into that long distance trip, you'll wish you had your Goldwing. Just sayin., not sure that bike is designed for that. Anyway, have a good trip and come back safe. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great vid👍 i totally agree with the riser situation its so tricky and if don’t feel comfortable u have 2 chance it! I have 6,5” thrashing risers with the stock bar and the stock seat it’s works perfect 4 me!! It’s not only the bars or the risers the seat is very important!!! its can destroy your whole set up!!
Hey there, brother. Great vid. Sometimes things don't work out the way we'd hope. If the risers aren't comfortable, change em. Trial and error will get you set up right. Have fun on the trip, be safe. I'm rootin fer ya!
Sandy you the man. I've always been into the details all my life and people tell me. I sweat the little things but Hey, they love my bikes and you're right. They don't have to watch Love you brother get well..
Great video! I’m also running the exact Thrashin 7.5 setup 😊. Works great for me! It does take a lot of work and time to get a bike dialed But it’s worth it! Ride safe !
I don't blame you one bit, those small details enhance the riding comfort. I recently swapped out my 14 inch T bars on my 2011 FXDB for 12 inch T bars and the difference in comfort is huge . You need to be comfortable especially on longer rides . Be safe , bike looks great .
I think you're fortunate to be able to fine tune your tweak. Glad to see you recognize the role your age plays in all decisions. Have a blast on your trip, be extra cautious, no hot dogging with Johns ego, be safe.😮
The shark demon looks great on the bike. I just ordered one for my street glide. I was going to do a Baja designs headlight until the street demon was announced then I just decided to wait for the Custom dynamics since everything else on my bike is Custom dynamics anyway
Hi Sandy! Have you ever thought about changing the handlebar instead of the risers? I'd really like to see someone using the Road Glide handlebar or something similar. Those really high risers, some people use, look king of orthopedic. Thanks for all the updates 👍
Brother because of you I’m buying the fairing for my Road King. Your bike looks gorgeous. And the only thing I would not have is that light only because is about preference. I’m more traditional. Like a rounded light type of guy.
There is a summer Covid outbreak. I’m just getting over it. It’s good to know if you do have it so you don’t give it to someone who might die if they get it. I have a family member currently on chemo and I couldn’t go see them.
Nothing wrong with knowing what you want bud. If you can make it ergonomically perfect for you, do it! You'll enjoy the bike that much more. I put 3" risers on my stock fat bob bars. With the drag specialties seat, it's perfect for ME. We're all different sizes. Make it fit YOU.
I just put on some 1" spacers to my 9.5" trashin risers I have their low bend bar though, you could of just changed your bars for the same out come I would imagine, bikes looking great though
Sandy glad your better thats what i did not do sick then getting taken antibiotics then what dont tell you when you take them your body canceling out your immune system so you build your self up so i end up getting lupus nephritis autoimmune disease or disorder god bless dont forget the man up does heal and very much still alive now been in remission for seven years looking try get me s lowrider st cause vids later bro
Oh man sorry to hear this and happy that you are better now ! Yeah let the body and immune system to it’s thing with the least drugs if possible! We never know what side effects these medications have .
Does anyone know if they made the stock bag hardware in black yet? I got the hold fast hardware in black but I’d prefer both mounting points to be black. Have to catch up with you on a ride. We met at the bikes and breakfast a while ago.
Sandy, maybe a Kraus T-Rex kickback plate would help? I'm planning on installing one this winter. '23 LRST with a 6.5 riser and mid bends, just want more pullback
I love these simple seiko 5 modern builds : 140 - 200$ I have quit a few of them for different outfits and different moods . My favorite though is my IWC Spitfire- wear every once in a while
@@HOLYSHIFT I too love my seiko collection perfect watches for every day wear. True work horses. Keep up the great content. I see you always striving to create something good for us watchers.
The devil is in the details! Some upgrades Do Not Work for everyone! This setup is to fit you, and your confidence and comfort are the most important part. Your height, weight, stature and age all come into play on YOUR setup.
Nice video 🤘🏾 how tall are you I’m almost 6’2 just wondering if my eight inch straight with a high bend bar gonna be perfect or to tall keep up the cool videos 💯

Exactly- thanks
Legend🙏
That headlight makes your bike look like an A-10 Warthog.
The details matter. It’s your bike and you want to be comfortable! Glad you’re starting to feel better man.
Thanks Joe
I did the bung king 8” with stock bars and that was right at 11.5, it’s perfect. On my low rider st

@HOLYSHIFT Absolutely, life changing experience. It's like everytime you come back from a tour you learn something different about yourself and your mentally changes completely.
So maybe the mid bend bars with the 9.5 riser would have been good.
Same thing I was thinking
..

Thanks for the update on the Risers.

Glad your feeling better. As far as the light. It maybe better sticking out for cooling.
Bar height is critical for distance riding. Everyone has a different need, especially as we get older.

looks good bruh
It’s funny you did this video, i started looking into adding a 1 inch spacer to my 9.5 risers about two weeks ago….
I just put on some 1" spacers to my 9.5" trashin risers I have their low bend bar though, you could of just changed your bars for the same out come I would imagine, bikes looking great though
Ok, I need a headlight in my FLHXS. That comparison to stock was just sad.
Hey what is the light bar on your bike,?
I want to know too, and what bracket is used.
Why did you get rid of the chin spoiler
All parts are here - www.motorcycledepot.com/collections/low-rider-st-touring-focused-build
What lights are in your front fairing side vents ? .
I did the 6.5 from thrashin and think I should’ve done the 9.5. Out of curiosity are you selling your 9.5 thrashin risers?
Sandy glad your better thats what i did not do sick then getting taken antibiotics then what dont tell you when you take them your body canceling out your immune system so you build your self up so i end up getting lupus nephritis autoimmune disease or disorder god bless dont forget the man up does heal and very much still alive now been in remission for seven years looking try get me s lowrider st cause vids later bro

What was wrong with the Bunking risers? I'm thinking of installing these iso the Kraus Raptor which is nice but ugly.
Will you be selling the 9.5 inch risers by any chance?
Does anyone know if they made the stock bag hardware in black yet? I got the hold fast hardware in black but I’d prefer both mounting points to be black. Have to catch up with you on a ride. We met at the bikes and breakfast a while ago.

Absolutely love my Trex pullback plate. Made the ride so much more enjoyable.
@@EddieFresh3 any issues running them? I know I'll have to extend every control, but thats not a big deal
@@shaunylee93 no issues but I had to extend the wires and cables with my setup. Running 8" Murdock riders, the Trex, with thrashin mid bars
@@EddieFresh3 Sounds good. I anticipate doing the same. Did you happen to run an OEM upper clutch cable or other?
@@shaunylee93 ran oem upper, I forget which length though, when I did the aftermarket stuff wasn't available yet. This was back in 21.
Set up looks nice are you going to be camping over your long distance ride
I don’t think so . That’s not the plan anyway
For me comfort not even looks or style first 😎
Quick question; Where'd you get that ghost flag on your cases. Thank you in advance.
Found it on one of the forums on facebook… don’t remember exactly where
@@HOLYSHIFT thank you
Well you would get tested so you know how to treat right?
I’m a watch guy on top of motorcycle interests. What kind of seiko are you wearing?

Strange, we try to find comfort in our rides but sometimes it's very hard to pinpoint what needs to be done.
agree
Sandy , flying sorties less stressful than flying the bus ?
😂🤣LoL 🤪😂
you gonna sell those 9.5 risers?
Yes when I get back from the trip in a month
Hi , the big raisers seems very american to me ...
classic bikes ( even american ) don t have these ...
you need a chiropractor bud!!
