Thx, I definitely need to check your lesson out on this one. Your tube screamer shirt reminded me of a true story told by guitarist Doyle Dykes last week. Eric Johnson was usins his ears to purchase Doyle a Tube Screamer as Doyle had lost his hearing in one ear. While there in the store testing the product, he looked over in the corner and recognized one then two of his previous guitars, that were stolen in the 80s. The store was getting them ready to ship overseas. Owner had purchased from coworker in 89s...so guess his coworker stole them from EJ. Owner had passed, so wife was selling. Net net, while EJ is in the midst of blessing a friend, he is given an unexpected blessing, he ultimately recovered his equipment stolen decades earlier. A day later, hours later those guitar would have been shipped overseas and never seen by EJ again. Thank you for blessing us with your gift, and may you be blessed in return 🙏 Tomo-san.
Thanks for sharing that story. Thank you so much!
You should keep in doing some more advanced concepts… thanks for these great videos tomo!!!
Well, I can do more advanced concepts but I would really help everyone to understand more foundation. So that everyone can understand more advanced stuff. Thank you so much! I was afraid to see this video as too advanced.... I am happy that you enjoyed!
I think for many of us, this video is just barely on the verge of too advanced, and that's where I'm able to learn best! I've been playing this progression to practice shell voicings and adding in tritone subs gives me something new and exciting to work with. I knew about tritone subs but I only ever used them on dominant chords!
Glad it was helpful! So happy to hear that. Please think about each intervals all the times! This way you can hear as a musician EAR! Always so keen on intervals / color! Now you know more!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Doing my best to think about intervals and notes rather than shapes and scale degrees. Takes a lot more work to undo an old habit than to build good ones to start!
@@othervinny When you practice , think everything you play! R 3 7 or R 7 3? Guitar is very visual instrument so we must work harder!
Tomo has anyone told you, you have the coolest t-shirts? Thankyou for the wisdom sir!
Thanks so much!
Thank you Tomo. You did a lot more explaining the fret numbers of the individual chord shapes you were playing on this video than usual which made it much easier to follow. I learned a lot. Very cool to see how an E7#9 and its tritone substitution Bb13 basically only differ by the tonic note. I also loved the concept of the highest note in the chord descending chromatically in the Cm7, F7b9, Bbmaj7 progression. I'd love to see a vid where you breakdown your super fast funk chord movements but explain each chord like you did in this vid. Keep up the great work.
Wow! Good job! See 3&7 and... #9 = 13!? Tritone subs are so cool! Make sense! Chromatic line in the chords! You got it! Thank you so much! I show all the fret positions & each intervals on the screen at my Guitar Wisdom.
So happy to hear that!! Thank you!!
Amazing.. thank you Mr Tomo-san for the guitar wisdom! ❤
You’re welcome! Thank you!
This one was loads of fun. I can tell all that triad work we’ve been doing lately paid off in multitudes to make this lesson enjoyable, like a little gift for the efforts made. My fingers were ready to accept the motions needed. I’m already familiar with the theory but not on guitar, I feel I get complementary understandings of the theory having practice it a little on piano, now starting on guitar and of course single line horn soloing were I originally learned the theory. Thank you Tomo as usual it was a stellar lesson
Happy to hear that. Good job! To be advanced, need to have a solid foundation! Triads, Major Scale, 7th chords, Arpeggios (Triads & 7th chords) R 3 7 & R 7 3 too. I teach everything at my Guitar Wisdom.
You're welcome! Thank you!
@@TomoFujitaMusic as soon as my finances stabilize (still rocky from the pandemic and that’s putting it lightly), I do want to do your guitar wisdom

Didnt know it was called Tritone Substitutions because I played a lot by ear! Now I know better! Thank you Tomo!
Good job! Thank you!
This song is how I learned how to play R37 but called them shell chords. Believe I’ve heard them also called Kernel chords. I really enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from them, Thank you Tomo👍👍👍
Good job! R 3 7 or R 7 3. Intervals are so important. Root & Guidetone!
You're welcome!
My apologies tomo.. I got swept away and spent energy on complaining about the advertising
Thank you for everything you teach x
Thanks for sharing!
I'm really enjoying these lessons on tensions.
So nice to hear that. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this! I’ve Been working on Autumn Leaves for two weeks or so and this lesson gives me a lot to contemplate! Thank you so much!❤️

Perfect lesson!
So happy to hear that! Thank you!
Steel String Singer,,,, you can't hide money!! Congratulations!
Thank you! It's a replica of Dumble Steel String Singer #002... using NOS parts.
Wonderful lesson. I'm now getting inspiration to write chromatic tritone funk. Would be a pleasure to hear more discord from you Tomo, 'off the beaten path' :)
Happy to hear that. Great! I have more ideas around Tritone Subs in jazz & funk! Thank you so much!
Thanks 👍 brilliant video
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for these videos! I’ve been getting into jazz and these videos have been helping me with applying them to the guitar and also the music I write.
I’ve been loving looking into jazz progressions and using things like secondary dominants and leading tone chords to create movement in my progressions. They sound super cool!
Thank you!
You’re very welcome!!
thank you tomo
You’re welcome!
I love your shirt !!!

Nice change up on that ol' circle of fifths chord progression Sensei.

@@TomoFujitaMusic ありがとうございます。でも英語ができないといけないのでは?

Can you think of it as playing a half step above the next chord? You’re playing Gb before F, B before Bb, E before Eb etc.
Don't even think anything! Just go 1/2 step up or down! That's JAZZ!
super
Thank you!
hello! thanking you for your videos, and I ask what characteristics the guitar you use in this video has, what scale it has
You're welcome! What time code? Thank you!
I thought Tritone substitutions only worked on dominant chords. Are you using them on other chords?
Both! Can be flexible.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Thanks, Tomo! This is one of my favourites.
Have you seen this player doing Take 5 on a 7-string?
