Danny's score to Batman was one of the most amazing things I've listened to and anytime I seen his name in the opening credits I perk up. Batman movie taught me the wonder of being completely surprised by the soundtrack. The back alley surgical scene with Jack in bandages is comical yet horrific and Danny's score accentuated that perfectly.
@Marty McFly II And then that guy who did Phantom of The Opera did Batman Forever and totally tried and failed to rip off Danny's Batman sound. Which is why NOBODY should follow Danny Elfman's footsteps even if it IS a sequel. There's ONE DANNY. PERIOD. The only person remotely close to that level of weirdness is Les Claypool from Primus and the only thing they have in common is they both had a Willy Wonka album.
I'm so glad Danny stuck to his guns. Batman is probably my 2nd favourite complete film score of all time, behind Jaws and Jaws 2. That score brought so much to that first film. I genuinely think it acted as another character in Gotham with its dark, mysterious and moody tone. Brilliant.

I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. Ever since I heard Alan Silvestri’s Back to the future soundtrack I was hooked on soundtracks. Although Elfman has scored to many epic scores to count, to me the Batman theme is his magnum opus. It’s just so vibrant with the right energy and filled with incredible details. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
Danny's early film scores are what got me into film scores 💯👌 I didn't really pay much attention to them before that outside of John Williams' Superman. In my teenage years, in the early 2000's, when most teens were playing the most popular music of the times, I was in my room blaring Michael Jacksons music and Danny Elfman's Batman and Batman Returns ❤️
Hollywood has always tried to pigeonhole Danny into their little pegboard, as in "you just do this but nothing else." It's a giant mistake to do that, especially to a man with such a fertile imagination. He can write just about anything when given the chance to do it and he does it extremely well.
My first exposure to Danny Elfman's theme was in Batman The Animated Series on Kids WB with the beautiful art deco inspired animation by Bruce Timm. Even as a kid I knew the show was very sophisticated for its time. I don't think I saw the Batman movie until I was in high school when I bought every movie of Tim Burton's along with Forbidden Zone and the Oingo Boingo Farewell concert DVD.
Are you saying that talent excludes craziness???? BTW Prince's Batdance was a worldwide #1 hit, nominated for five Grammys, including Producer of the Year.
Michael Jackson was known to listen to classical music the majority of his life and with his childhood love of comic book superheroes one can only imagine the layers of music he would've brought to the table with that honor of creating the batman theme
Exactly, cheesy as hell, besides MJ din't play or write any music, he hired others to do it for him, BUT he was best friends with Barbara Streisand, the producer's wife. I'm glad that Tim Burton sticked to his guns, Elfman is a genius. BTW Prince soundtrack was funky as hell.
Michael Jackson was best friend with Barbara Streisand (and all white Hollywood divas), wife of Batman producer's John H. Peters, the only reason his name was on the list. Glad that Tim Burton fight for Elfman and Prince. BTW Danny Elfman did incorporated Prince's songs into his score.
Needless to say I cannot see Michael Joseph Jackson, Georgios Kyriascos Panayiotou, or Prince Rogers Nelson creating Batman score, Daniel Robert Elfman actually makes sense
Prince was hired to write the hits, Elfman was hired to write the score, both did what they supposed to do amazingly. Danny Elfman was nominated for two Grammys (won one), Prince was nominated for five Grammys (including Producer of the Year).
Absolutely hated Prince's Batman album. I heard Tim was a fan but didn't really want him to do the songs. Great that Tim could finally make the decisions in the sequel and went for Siouxie.
You hear wrong, the Batman movie was shot with TWO Prince songs even before Prince was involved, one of the songs was played on the parade scene. Jack Nicholson motivated Tim to ask Prince for a couple of new songs, Burton invited Prince to the set. After Prince's visit, Burton's own words: "Prince fitted perfect in the vibe of the film" Prince even start dating Vicky Vale! What Burton wasn't expecting is that Prince would come back with a whole album, Burton could not fit all the songs into the film. In many ways Prince's Batman became the first album of "music inspired by the movie" thing. BTW Siouxie did sample Prince's for Peek a Boo (and they supposed to meet).

Danny Elfman, creator of the best, most iconic, and most memorable Batman music of all time!

I think Danny's scores is what brought in a whole new audience.
Well, Prince was in fact the King of sex and funk (very controversial at the time), so he actually is the one that brought a new audience.
Well... I would love to hear a Danny's orchestrated version of Prince's "The Future".
Danny Elfman did incorporated some of Prince songs into his score, I think Scandalous is one of them or Arms of Orion.

I gotta say, when I heard Prince's Batdance, I was really confused as to how someone so talented could write something that sounded so inane.

It's known that Michael Jackson was planning on buying the DC Comic's (or a major comic book co.) shortly before his death. rip MJ
MJ could not play a single note of anything, he probably would had hired another old white dude like Rod Temperson to make the Batman song for him.
I MISS OINGO BOINGO.

i saw his comedy show with buddy! I felt like a scared little child saying ''make it stop!'' lol
I wonder what he wrote during that painful month between being off of the movie and then back on.

wow, would love to have heard Michaels interpretation of Batman.
Nope nothing 'dark and brooding' in his retinue, so I'm glad it didn't happen.
