He's just getting more and more into character as we all age together. Thinking of jacks smile when he sees the Christmas tree door for the first time lol
This guy danny elfman for me it's one of the most talented men of out time, his behind so many movies scores and themes, his a genius. Just hearing the theme of the simpsons, Edward scissors hands, sleepy hollow, batman and batman returns and others are great but all the music score or soundtrack of those movies are amazing I have them all.
Seriously, cant even think of anyone that could even compare to him, there are some composers who have made iconic soundtracks such as john williams. But not a single one of them have been able to convey the emotions I feel when listening to danny elfmans work. And on top of being a great composer he can sing and he was in a kick ass band. He's musically gifted on multiple levels.
I wasnt born to see him in his glory days as I am only young but I love this man oh so much and he inspires me everyday, even during these days he still manages to inspire those who are young, never leave us Danny
This doesn't explain why they got Chris Sarandon to do the speaking voice. That's what I really want to know, is why Danny didn't just do the speaking lines, if he was already doing the songs.
@@noneofyourbusiness4616 That doesn't really track. First of all, Danny Elfman has been an actor in movies before. Before even his music career, he had a leading role in a film called The Forbidden Zone. Second of all, acting and singing aren't mutually exclusive. In Danny's songs in Nightmare Before Christmas, he puts a ton of feeling and expression into the character. I don't see how he couldn't do the same if he weren't singing. I just don't think this is the reason.
He's only Jack when he's singing; during any scene that doesn't have him doing that, he's played by Chris Sarandon, who has been the sole voice ever since. Chris even did the singing for Jack in the sequel game NBC: Oogie's Revenge.
This move will never ever get old. I work with a family who youngster is 2 years old. She watches this everyday all day and tries to sing Sally’s song, it’s so cute.. 😁
I had no clue DE was Jack until I went to a live film music concert of some of his scores at the Albert Hall. Full orchestra, choir, they even had a Theramin player for Mars Attacks! They did 3 or 4 songs from Nightmare and I just thought the guy that played him was really good and sounded just like him. He was bloody brilliant!! Didn't realise until I Googled it afterwards! 🤦🏾♀️
To the commenters wondering why Danny didn’t do the speaking voice as well, according to the recent documentary “The Holiday Movies That Made Us”, he WAS gonna be the main voice, but the animators felt that his actual acting was too wooden so they got Chris Sarandon. It makes me wonder how bad his performance actually was if they couldn’t just get him to re-record his lines until he got it right. Maybe if Danny had a voice director who could’ve helped him out it would’ve been fine, but here we are, and I’m just fine with that. I appreciate both sides for being able to recognize that there was a problem that needed fixing, it was very good of them to do so cause they wanted to make the best movie possible.
I think the problem is Danny can’t be directed. He had trouble with music lessons as well, that’s why he had to teach himself how to play and write music. Maybe he’s on the spectrum or something.
@@dorothyallspice1862 Oh he totally has ADHD. Maybe even takes drugs for it. But not abusively, seeing he doesn’t have meth mouth, and somehow has the concentration and willpower to exercise every day and not eat sugar every day... he’s the definition of mortality salience.

You are correct. But since Jack sings more than he speaks, Danny is the voice we associate him with. (Even when Jack speaks during a song, it's Danny.)
This is my daughter’s absolute favorite movie! Odd that they didn’t want it to sound like a broadway musical because that’s what it sounds like. Weird.....science.
His dental x-rays are on Instagram. He still has all of his teeth even his wisdom teeth. That’s just how natural teeth look without veneers and bleaching.
"No template"?! I love, love, love you, Danny, but the only difference between Nightmare and any other movie that Disney has shit out is that Nightmare has a bit more music (AND it's MILES better than anything Disney has produced since)!
Disney used to make musical movies like Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast but sometime after the 90s they stopped or at the very least drastically reduced their musical output.

I can’t really imagine Jack being played by anyone else. It’s been so etched into my memory and the fabric of reality spacetime

You can tell how passionate he is about him music. It makes him light up and smile! ❤ He's a true musician/composer!
So rare back then to be just given an unrestricted green light from the studios like they did! Amazing job!
It is rare today! Unless of course, the studio is rather hands-off by design.
Everytime he speaks all i hear is jack its crazy! This is great!

Love Danny elfman, can't help thinking he looks like one of my nursing mentors from my course though...
Or a sleep paralysis demon.
when he was younger he resembled my hairdresser
Oingo Boingo - who knew then he would end up being such a big deal in movies.
TIm Burton and Paul Reubens should get the credit since they were fans of the group and asked him to do the pee wee music.
hey its a dead mans party bro
This doesn't explain why they got Chris Sarandon to do the speaking voice. That's what I really want to know, is why Danny didn't just do the speaking lines, if he was already doing the songs.
Because Elfman isn't an actor and acting is an actual skill, like being able to sing.

He was the perfect man for the job, the songs in Nightmare Before Christmas were brilliant
I love Danny Elfman so much 💜
