Nobody here dislikes Danny's singing with Trent. OP was just unsure as I was of who joined into solo singing. This is Industrial as hell and I love it!
It's hard to put to words what T.R. has pulled me through since I first heard him in '89, he was in my ears while I cleared minefields in Kuwait and got me home, now at fifty and still amazes my with every thing he records being nothing but perfection that brings my inner emotions always wanting more. His talents never get the true recognition he truly deserves, so thankful he has never stopped, I could be ninty and would still be blasting it loud. Represent.
i would never inter anything that would take away from the brilliant musicianship of either Danny Elfman or Trent Reznor but i hear the ghost of Bowie all throughout this track. utterly gorgeous. do a concept album together, you two. just hole up in a cheap hotel room with a big box of synthesizers and throw lunch meat at each other until it gets done.
And I think it’s really cool that they’ve both been inspired by Reznor himself (‘course it’s well-known that Gary was a big influence on Reznor). But yeah, they’re both going hard these days
Supposedly people aren’t 60 aren’t supposed to be capable of composing classical music. Danny must have unusually high neuroplasticity but that was probably made clear when he picked up his first instrument in a couple of months in his late teens!

A few years ago I suffered a severe depressive episode/existential suicidal thoughts and both the song and visuals are so closely reprsented to how I felt at the time. I'm ok now and the song feels theraputic and inspiring

That little guitar solo in the middle is so Elfman and I LOVE IT. This whole song kicks ass. Great Colab. Trent and Danny need to do more songs together. This song is Filthy Beautiful.
It took me a while to learn how to listen to this tune - the melody isn't in the vocals or in the groove - it's in the background piano and strings. Congrats to Danny & Trent for putting together something that's a challenge to listen to.
I'm really hope they've done like 20 more songs together. They each bring their own perfect dissonance from their craft. I will always be ready for this.
Danny Elfman is doing the score to Doctor Strange 2, which is supposedly going to have strong horror vibes, and god I hope this is a taste of what that score's going to be like if this is the type of sound Elfman's been exploring recently!
Him scoring Doctor Strange 2 is just perfect! Was already as excited as one can be for that film, but Danny being announced as the composer (and he’s back with Raimi, of course) definitely was the icing on the cake. Now while I do think his film scoring will ultimately remain different from his industrial-influenced album, it would be awesome to hear some of these elements in Multiverse of Madness. Regardless, love that he’s composing it

Speaks volumes that I heard this version before I was even aware of the original, which is pretty awesome to begin with, but Reznor gives it the feels it was always meant to have, and without mangling Elfman's vision or making it unrecognizable. Then again, it would be hard to miss a collaboration as epic as Danny Elfman and Trent Reznor. They are both titans in the music industry and innovators in terms of what it means to be a musician. Incredible stuff! I'll have this stuck in my head for weeks.
I think these lyrics speak for so many of us who have lost our jobs and ended up right where we started. When will we remember to focus again? When will we be able to breathe in that sigh of relief? Brilliant work.

It's crazy how much you can hear each of their distinct styles in this composition. The Reznor fuzzout distortion vocal and little melodies that are classic Elfman.

Danny Elfman has been helping to breath life back into industrial, but he's pushing it into a progressive niche. Progressive industrial. Reznor cements this.
Legendary Pink Dots meet those genre on early eighties, I recommend you listen "Any Day Now" or "Island of Jewels", also Controlled Bleeding meets prog and industrial/noise but they are super eclectic, even more than the dots ... Check those! Also my band Un Festín Sagital was on that industrial-noise meet avant prog, on 2009 "Sic Dilexit Mundum" album, it's a very interesting contrast, primal and complexity

I’m also hearing musical sounds in this version that are classic NIN, like from Reptile.
This was one of the less Elfman-y tracks from the album. I can only hear him in the nervous hyperactive impatient quivering of the strings.
