- Mobile Home Homemaking video! Welcome to my homemaking motivation video where I take you along with me as I work on my Tiny Kitchen! My old trailer is 455 square feet. To get my mobile home in better condition I had to do a renovation and makeover. My small mobile home may not be big but it feels larger because of how I set it up! This video is different from what I usually make like food pantry hauls but I do hope you enjoy it! I also have some frugal living tips in this video as I show you what life is like living in a small space. I hope you enjoy this day in the life of living in my office trailer. Living in a one bathroom trailer can be a challenge. I bought the best single wide I could afford. It needed a good old fashioned mobile home cleaning plus renovations. My renovation budget was too small to do the house design I wanted. Instead I put in endless hours of mobile home cleaning. I hope you enjoy my mobile home vlog! Plus we are going to Habitat for Humanity also known as the Restore!
Mobile Home Homemaking can be a work in progress!
My Singlewide Mobile Home is not big but it's a great opportunity to make the most out of what I have! My home decorating ideas for my living room is focused on furniture placement and colorful fabrics with patterns. I applied an interior design principle in my trailer that may not be obvious because I do not have the finest furnishings. I used symmetry! It works in any home on any budget. You can make a nice space for yourself, it takes creativity when your budget is low or non-existent.
MOBILE HOME HOMEMAKING & FRUGAL LIVING
It is a blessing to have a home that I can offer homemaking motivation videos to help you make the most out of what you have! In my mobile home spend the day with me you would find me tidying up and putting things in designated spaces. Mobile home homemaking means making the best home I can using what I got! I use fabric storage containers housing off-season items and supplies under the bed. This is one of my interior design tips for Storage so I can store items out of sight.
MOBILE HOME HOMEMAKING:
This video is a day in the life of mobile home living! One necessary step I must take is keep the floor space clear. I make my home look more neat and tidy by putting things away. When you live in a small home, try to utilize space the best you can so you can safely walk within your home. Create a defined pathway to avoid tripping. If you would see a mobile home clean with me then you'd find me clearing the path in my home, so I can safely walk around! The struggle is real and it's important to create a routine that works for you! My floors are down to the sub flooring. It may not be the prettiest but it's what I'm working with.
HOMEMAKING MOTIVATION
The space is a minimalist home tour but the amount of things I have do fill up the space quickly. I had to figure out how to maximize a tiny space. I make my space work for me and improve as I go. When I can, I upgrade items to better quality items.
Mobile Home Clean With Me
Keeping your floors clear will help your home feel large! Design your space with storage in mind so you can get the most out from your furniture. When I moved here, I had very little furniture, it took time to build up to what I have today.
FRUGAL LIVING
Living in a small singlewide mobile home has challenges. It would be easier if I had a "junk room" but I have to work with what I got. I have one closet housing a water heater. The closet has room to store items which I utilize to the max. Use what you've got, buy what you can, and make the most out of your home whether you live in an apartment, in a mobile home trailer or any other kind of home. You can make a nice home! Going to the thrift store and dumpster diving to decorate your home takes time, so give yourself plenty of room to be creative!

You’re right. You have, only in my opinion, have twice as much furniture as you have space. Scaling down is painful and the results of doing it are so lovely and peaceful to cohabitate with. I too am having painful moments doing the job but I’m loving the results and I don’t miss the over crowding.
Decluttering is key to a useable space. I know, I need to do the same in my apartment.

Please tell us your story, what journey you had to be where you are now. Where were you born and raised, where are you now? How did you found your home, and the land where it sits? What career did you have, or do you have? Have you family? I enjoy your use of and appreciation of every little thing in your life; it really lifts my spirits.
I'm so glad to know my Channel makes you feel good! I may share my background story one day. To share a little right now, during the Pandemic, I was renting in the city. I was given less than 30 days notice to leave, and it was a stressful time. I'd never seen grocery store shelves so empty, it was scary not knowing what to expect. Adding the move on top, created more difficulty. Then enters my little trailer! I love my home. It was a hot mess when I got this place and I had a bare-bones renovation budget, so the minimum necessary repairs were done just to move my stuff inside. That's why I have a mini-fridge because that was the most affordable option. Since then, I have been making my home better the best I can. I've collected items from the dump, the thrift store, Habitat for Humanity and Amazon. I try to create a cozy home life that brings me comfort and joy. God has taken care of me all along the way!

I would move the piano bench (maybe to the end of your bed or use as your coffee table?) it looks like you just set it there temporarily. The color is starkly different and it just looks like it doesnt belong. And I think the pink table (and the teal one too) would look fab on your deck! Id move the back of the island all the way to the edge of the wall and then lean the big mirror against the wall on top of the island; It will make the place look bigger because it will reflect the light from both windows and your lamp. Because of the island placement you will have to be careful of what you place on it. It will make your place look messy if too much is on it or if things are placed on it and not kept neat. I would move the desk (which is an amazing piece of furniture BTW) and use it as my TV stand and get rid of the TV stand you have now. Put your 2 animal prints above the couch. I would also angle the piece you put into the corner putting it kitty cornered (the one with hunny bunny and friends on it) rather than putting it against the one wall. It will visually take up less space. Have a great day and I love your "show"!
Thank you for your suggestions! I especially like your idea to add the mirror on top of the kitchen island. When I measured, it would cover up the light switch. The desk is probably from the 1940's and has the original hardware! I would love to build a porch awning so I can set it up like an outdoor living room. I agree the bright colored tables would look great out there!

Thank you very much! My home just flows better now! I enjoy improving my space in whatever ways I can. I really like the space freshened up! The kitchen island cart was an unexpected idea, but I think it came to me because of the living room improvement. Space is like that, if you improve one area, it opens up the possibilities for improving other areas! And Mr. Turtle's been trying to sneak in! He wants to nap on the sofa!

You know you have plenty of room under the sofa to put some underbed storage boxes to put away some of the stuff you need to keep but don't use often which is what I do in my very small bedroom. I use them for clothes and swap out my winter and summer clothes as needed. It gives me more room in my closet and makes things easier to find. ❤

Great job rearranging. I like the island idea. Only thing different I’d try is lining up your island either centered to the column or to the far edge to give yourself a an inch or two more space. I like that you are making your space right for you!

I moved to a small senior apt n am constantly rearranging trying to get where i feel like i am finally home. I enjoy your channel n the way you are not afraid to move things around to suit yoyr lifestyle. I also bring things in n gift other things out once i figure out that they dont quite suite me. But it does take a bit of "sitting with it" n living with it to figure that out. I'm happy to find someone, you, who understands that n takes the time to share your adventures of making your house your home. Thank you.

I have a great opportunity to choose to keep the objects I love and to let go of things that I don't. Doing so is not a "get it done right away" type of project. @@CareFreeLivingChannel thanks I’ll be working 18 hours all weekend.but got do it. I’m 58 and there in early 20s and they’re trying to get rid of us older workers, but I’m good at my job and I like to clean houses and I have a lot of customers that request me to clean.

Thank you! The island has improved the kitchen, I'm loving it. Removing the cubby from the island was a great fix to open the pathway. It feels cozy and comfy! This was like a "no-spend" space refresh. The flow in here is so much better now. Have a great day!

I think you are making great progress. It takes quite a while to re-locate and re-start. Life and living are a process no matter who you are and where you are. I do however believe you have a great advantage because of your demeanor. You are just not giving up. You are finding the "little joys" during the week and months and seasons. The improvisations make your life richer. For example, you have thought of several ways to hang curtains! Several ways to stay warm. Several ways to use your belongings for different purposes. Your interest and flexibility make you stronger and stronger. What a joy you are! :)

you need a runner rug for that walkway
Yes, that is a great idea! I think it would be so nice to get a runner rug. Sometimes they come up at the thrift store, but I think it would be wonderful to pick out the design. In the winter it would be super nice!
I would put up shelves on those blank kitchen walls. The one above where you moved the white island. And the end of your counter where you moved the air purifier. That would use those blank walls. Also next to your fridge in that corner. More storage means more storage. Use every square inch you can.😊

Tiers shelves to fit in cuppords on my counter. I store spices in them and my oils. They were about $4 each at Walmart. They can hold cups and such too.

Hi. 3 of us live in a 2BR apartment near Chicago. Every day, I get rid of at least 20 items. I try to keep top closet and cabinet shelves empty because we are 77 and 74 , and my daughter is disabled. We have 4 tall bookcases, two have bins. Tina, Al's wife

Just a suggestion, if you can find one of those or a couple it the deciders that are to stack plates in them, they work great to free up space. Also, I use cheap hooks to hang mugs off of my metal shelves like you have. It frees up fast surface space. :)

do what makes you happy in your space lie you I love kitchen things and I do most meals everyday for hubby who can't walk without walker any more bless his heart he 80 and has many heath issues. But together we make it work in our 1200 square ft apartment been here 2 years we downsize and sold our wonderful homestead because the land house was just too much for us. I am always moving things around. just as much as I use too but I am bless and at 78 God has a plan for me he in control. I trust in him s faithful one.

Hey Sarah everything turned out looking good. Just some thoughts, I would get a corded wall light for the kitchen, find a tall entertainment center for the living room place TV, books and all the knickknacks on it, it would be more open. Lecturing someone about "wasting money who eats almost exclusively from the food pantry and lives in a tiny home furnished with thrifted items and roadside finds seems an odd choice if you ask me. Surely you could find countless others in much more need of your sage advice

Like me, I think you have too much furniture and things in that small space. I’ve been slowly getting rid of anything that doesn’t make me happy. Easier on the eye, calming to the mind and easier to keep clean. 👍
