For me it is the R. M. Williams chelsea boots. Made in Australia since 1932. Highly recommended, particularly the classic Craftsman model, the one with the chisel toe and Comfort sole (rubber). All RM Williams boots are great though, so choose the style and colour and leather you like. Expensive boots but you are unlikely to regret the purchase. Goodyear construction so they are repairable for many years if you look after the leather itself.

All 3 of my boots are from Thursday Boots. Honestly, this channel got me to try out boots around 3 years ago (when all I wore were sneakers). I never liked wearing boots before. Growing up, boots to me only meant winter boots, and I mean the rugged and not good-looking kind. It wasn't until this channel showed me that there were boots that actually looked nice and weren't necessarily for winter (and even boots made for winter that actually looked nice). 3 years later, I now have 3 pairs of boots and want to get another one soon.
As for my pair of Chelsea boots, I have the Thursday Boots Black Cavalier. I wanted to get that specifically because I have yet to get a pair of black boots, and I wanted a dressier pair of boots that could be versatile with either jeans or slacks/chinos/dressier outfit. No regrets, love them so much,

If you want a dressy boot or shoe that has a leather outsole but you also want traction, go to a cobbler and have sole protectors put on. The right ones will have a slim profile and provide good traction. Plus, you can easily have them replaced without having to get the shoes resoled. I paid $40 for mine on a pair of dress shoes.

I like my RM Williams. Dressy, but quite rugged, cost about £400. here in UK. The soles can be leather or Dainite. They are Goodyear welted but still look sleek, uppers are cut from one piece of suede, calfskin or kangaroo hide.
Also good for rougher everyday wear are UK made Solovair boots which have Doc Martin type soles but are of a better (GWelt) construction with better leathers, cost about £200.
Chelseas are also known as Dealer boots over here.

as a boot maker i can say there is also the outstich design. The upper is sewn directly to the midsole, I typically hand sew it, and then the outsole will be glued on to the midsole with contact cement. This means the boot or shoe will be easy to resole once the glue wears out, usually happens after 2-3 years of consistent use. cemented shoes arent always bad, it just depends on how the upper is attatched tot he midsole and weather the midsole is leather or a synthetic material. AVOID SYNTHETIC MIDSOLES

If the dress shoe kind of shoe can't be worn with casual clothes, should I go for the casual boot if I'm going to wear it with a leather jacket? Even though the more formal one would look better...

That’s why I prefer rubber sole lawry over leather sole ones. The leather is so fine on it but it has rubber sole. Which is like going to ball in your pajamas.

Should I rock a dressy pair of Chelsea boots for my business casual looks? I'm talking Oxford shirts, v-neck sweaters over top, nice button down shirts and maybe on a Sunday for church a blazer. Or would a more casual pair look better for those?

Iooking forward to have a thursday boots. I am tocking a timberland chelsea on my day offs and an issue 511 chelsea boots on duty. I find that they are very comfortable once broken in. I use a US 7 on my timberwolves. What size of boots should I get? will they fit the same as timberland. I wear smaller size (39 kids size) on my timberland yellow boots. Size 7 is actually good but with little play which is fixed easily by double socks. I just recently discovered it when I bought the chelsea.

I love chelsea boots, as a shorter and slimmer guy I really can't wear thick boots because it just looks odd and chelseas are so easy to put on. Perfect winter boots for me, although obviously if you spend more time outside than the usual shopping mall runs/commutes then you need something warmer and more durable

Ca a 50 year old male cuff his jeans to show off his Chelsea boots or is that more of a younger person’s look?

I own half a dozen pairs of Chelsea boots and would happily buy another half dozen, money no object. One brand I have had a lot of satisfaction from (surprisingly) is Kenneth Cole. I know it‘s a brand more known for fashion than real quality (the countless sales on their website seem to confirm this) but I have a couple of pairs that are still going strong after years of regular wear.

I like Chelsea boots that have EVA foam for comfort. My logic is I rotate my shoes and I barely go out. Because of this, I'm willing to sacrifice some durability for comfort.

One that you left out that would be great for more traction than leather, and not as clunky as lugs is the Chelseas with Crepe soles.

HI... I'm not very knowledgeable about men's shoes, and I could use some help selecting a versatile dress shoe for my partner for the holidays. He currently enjoys shoes like Converse Jack Purcell in white, NAOT Director in brown, NAOT Chief in black raven and walnut, and Toms lace-up in grey. Typically, he opts for Converse on casual days and NAOT for business or travel. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.. THANX ..
