  • Caeleb Dressel just keeps continuing to improve in his return to swimming. This morning, he swam his fastest prelims time since making his return; now in finals, he posts his fastest time outright since his return with a 48.30. That knocks a tenth off his winning time from the San Antonio Pro Series.

Don't worry I don't think Dressel is giving it his all here - he usually keeps the head down around the 15 but here he only does it under the flags

I'd be worried if I was dressel. One 46, and a few 47,s out there this season. Let's see what he swims at trails.

it's dressel, he is a taper guy. His swims we're always mediocre midseason. He is used to this✌️

100 freestyle is more aerobic, Dressel can’t win the 50 and 100 this year.
They’re like the 200 meter and 400 meter in track and field, one is almost pure sprint while the other requires some additional endurance (larger muscle mass requires more oxygen and fatigues quickly).
It’s going to be difficult to beat McEvoy and Popovici/Pan, probably not possible to go 20.8-20.9 and 46.6-46.7 as they require pure power vs. aerobic capacity.

50 free is equivalent to the 100 in track

@@joeekaps5840 No, the time for the 100 meter dash is 9 seconds, the time for the 50 meter freestyle is 20.9 seconds.
The 50 freestyle takes more time than a 200 meter run.
The 100 freestyle is 46 seconds which is almost equivalent to the 400 meter run (42.9 seconds).

@@mainichibenkyou2964 yes but we are talking water to land speed. Runners have more stability to push off the ground and thereby creating better force, equalling more speed. Swimmers don't have the luxury of stability, except when they dive off the blocks and push off the wall. That's why swimming is such a technical sport, that not many people can master. 99% of the population can walk/ run, but less than 1% can swim properly. It's actually a matter of physics and water fluidity. So Swimmers fastest event is the 50 meter/ yard , pretty much equalling the fastest event in track- 100 meters
