I time everything. It takes about an hour to do most errands or chores, such as buying groceries, supper and dishes, vacuuming, ironing, etc. This makes it easier to schedule my day.
I only focus on the complicated for a certain amount of time. In between, I do mundane chores, such as dishes, laundry, swivel sweep, dust, etc. This gives my mind time to refresh itself.
being produtive means starting something and finishing it whether it takes either 5 minutes or 2 hours - without any kind of distraction - that's what I think of productivity and the most important skill for being productive is focus.
1. Work expands to fill the time allotted to it. Have strict deadlines. 2. Work smarter (take a step back to spend time planning and optimizing) 3. Become a "No" man 4. Avoid multitasking, use time blocking 5. Take the marathon approach to working hard - work steadily and reward yourself for it.
I have found planning my day and sticking with it leaves me so many more hrs in the day. When you lay around on the weekend, it flies by and nothing gets accomplished
yes!! having a concrete plan before each day is something I do and something i have my clients do when I coach them. It seriously makes a huge difference having a plan vs just winging it... everyone tends to lean towards procrastination when there isn't plans and deadlines for thing. Let me know how i can hep you along your journey man lets crush it
I honestly think a lot of this stems from our education system. We are not taught to critically think, but instead blindly follow instructions and do as we are told. I'm astounded by the number of very talented and great people in the professional world that do not try to think out of the box, frankly because they have never been challenged to do so. I love your channel, thanks for sharing this video.
couldn't agree more man!!! it's very common.... that's why they say A students work for C students. A students tend to focus all their time and energy on doing things right instead of trying things.... C students can some times tend to just do things.... fine balance there. Hope you are well lets crush it
The rest of my day starting now is: toss out all the big bags of cloths and shoes, and then complete the last 4 pages of my book, do the last editing of the book, then editing the other two books, and the pic out the covers for all three books, then journal my day, pick out the next 3 prompts for my poetry writing challenge, research for my next book, smoke cbd while listening to life coaches and do some grooming and sleep.
Hey Nate, I really like your idea about taking a step back every so often, in order to make sure you're still heading in the right direction. No point in continuing to scrub the floor with a toothbrush if you can use a mop
Thank you Nate your videos always motivating to do better every time I watching and it’s exactly what it’s happening to me I am in the process of writing a book And every week I dedicate a few hours, my goal was to have it ready by April, Now that I watch your video, it’s more motivating to by organize and finish in time with your good advice that you showed us is very helpful
facts right there!!!! definitely important to understand time management and keep yourself heading in the right direction and on time. Hoping you are well and lets crush it this year. New levels to get to
I work on creative projects until I'm no longer inspired. I usually work on 2 or 3 projects at the same time. It's good to take a break and do something new.
hahaha RIGHT!? i think it's fine to do some... i'd say set an alarm on your phone for a certain amount of time and then when it goes off wherever you are you can pick up the next day. Lets crush this year man
The sponsor LASTPASS honestly creates efficiency. I trust their security and use LASTPASS on several platforms. Back in the day I maybe had 3 passwords, which isnt the case anymore, it's in the hundreds. LASTPASS also will create tricky passwords for me. In productivity I did find the calendar app and reminder app on my phone has become second nature in planning my time accordingly. I was a fan of DAYTIMER paper planners and had to get used to the digital shift. Get stuff done, but have some fun.
I feel like people underestimate the importance of saying no to others when it comes to how they spend their time. This is such a good point. Are you doing what serves you?
Thank you very much ! I love "make sure that you work smarter before start to work harder" that's the point for many people including me ! I've read a boo about that "winning without losing : 65 strategies for building a wildly successful business while living a happy and balanced life" it was helpful to understand that " you need to work hard and forget everything else to build a successful business is a BS someone said one day and everybody just believe it without even trying other ways"
Reminds me of the 4 hour workweek book. After reading that book, it made me realize how much time we waste doing unproductive and meaningless tasks. The key isn't to be "busy" but be productive. We aren't lazy if we want to work smarter and NOT harder.
I agree with being a "no" person, because I've been that way for a long time. But do take the time to say "yes" to the things you really want to do. I've found that I spent too many years saying no when I easily could have said yes and created great memories. But overall I do agree with you
I am definitely guilty of putting my head down and just working and working without ever picking my head up. Its a very sad and unfulfilling way to live. Thankfully, I am making changes in my life now, so things should improve!
Love your content Nate! I definitely agree with this! 👍😊😃 I’m still working on this myself. Great tips! Working smarter is definitely key to most things! 😃
Same with the concept of commitment, it's about doing things regardless of the uncontrollable variables surrounding it. (This is not the word for word definition of commitment tho but this is how I see it)
I find myself procrastinating tasks that I don't like. It often holds me back from completing what I want to complete because I first need to do something different. I guess it's best to accept that work is not always fun and that the sooner the boring or discouraging tasks are done, we can start with what brings us forward on our journey.
Your new b-roll and cinematic footage in the last couple of videos are dope, BUT you have such a great ability to talk and explain yourself fluently for long periods of time without any jumpcuts (unlike most youtubers) - I think it's one of your greatest strengths, I actually felt that the b-roll in this video made me lose concentration unlike your past videos. so even though it seems like a higher quality production, I'm not sure it's actually better. hehe funny also relates to this video's topic - working harder to do a task that can be done in a simpler way.
First off I'd like to thank you for taking the time to make these awesome videos. I appreciate your content and your valuable advice. I thought you were like 26 years old but I discovered in one of your other videos that we're actually the same age because of this it makes it more easier and relatable. You're a very inspirational person and I'd like to say continue the great work. Wish you the highest good and thank you again!
Great explanation! There's nothing more I hate than people telling me how "busy" they are at work. Most people have no clue about the difference between "being busy" and being productive. When it comes to understanding how to be efficient, it's nuclear physics to them.
We found out one of the powerful is having a great knowledge thank you very much everyone for sharing knowledge that beneficial please post more it's important
hahaha yes and that's definitely a potential... go to youtube to learn and then spend too much time on youtube... maybe set an alarm on your phone for so much time that way when it goes off no matter what you are doing you can pick up another day where you left off. Hope you crush it this year
Great time management tips!! Talking about Parkinson's Law, imagine if we knew how much time we have left to live. There's a great sci-fi movie In Time in which basically people know how much time they got before death, and in the movie time replaces money: the richer you are - you've got more time, the poorer you are - less time, so the poor are like more productive because of that.
YESSS!! i tell my clients this all the time... gotta live like there is only a little time left.. really changes quite a bit when you come from that mindset. Focus on what's most important to you. I hope you crush this year
I am so glad to have subscribed to you Nate because I always wanted to know how to be a little more productive and this video made me think a little more about how to do it.
Nice change up Nate. Outside the apartment & off the couch lol. Nice addition with the graphic. I would take out the background music when your explaining the main points. Maybe just for the ad & some slow mo b roll stuff.
4:35 If you work in a high-pressure environment as a leader, you have to do the two boxes on the left first. You have to delegate tasks right away because it's so fast-paced.
