    When I saw this new feature, I immediately thought Seltas could benefit from it tremendously since I think it was the low large monster per hunt limit that really hurt their potential up to this point. Just imagine swarms of them flying around a locale trailing one of their queens

    In regards to pack monsters, in real life, pack animals are typically, but not always, on the low end of the food chain. In the case of wolves or lions, these are simply parents and their cubs, so odds are that we won't always encounter huge groups. Moreover, avians aren't usually pack animals; typically, they only mate and protect their hatchlings until those offspring can fend for themselves. Taking the Raths for example, they defend the nest and individually hunt prey. There likely won't always be packs in most cases, especially for flying wyverns.

      Pack hunting and general gregarious behaviour occur in mammalian carnivores for a number of reasons, though inconsistent/heterogenous resource distribution is a major factor.
      In wolves, dingoes, painted dogs and dholes this is a general extension of the pairing seen in the whole canid family. Lions don't have as strong of an evolutionary precedent (though breeding pairs can know each other long-term as well iirc), but social social behaviour arose from generally inconsistent resource distribution, resulting in the formation of shared territories and eventually packs and coordinated hunting behaviour.
      Some carnivores also live communally in spite of foraging alone (e.g. mongooses, european badgers), which may be related to protection iirc? Regardless, it doesn't have much to do with their position in an ecosystem so much as other factors.
      this being said, a lot of schooling, flocking or herding behaviours are related to defense.

    Interesting to think what they'll do with returning monsters. We know Rathalos is returning but he isn't a monster that hunts with a group, he does hunt other monsters that move in herds so i can imagine him swooping in the middle of a fight.

    • @MH4wheel
      @MH4wheel 4 месяца назад +13

      That's a good point! In the same token, what if we could take advantage of Rathalos attacking a herd to help split off the Pack Leader for us to hunt while Rathalos preys on a lesser pack member

      What do you mean we'll see it with a rathian more time then not. Just imagine its a quest only to hunt a rathalos but then it calls in a rathian for help and we get to see how theyll actually fight as a team kinda how we saw teostra and lunastra have the bond attack but as a full hunt whith multiple animations 😅

    For some returning monsters I think I’d want Aptonoth just because seeing a herd that is as large as the herd from the MH1 into would be amazing.
    After that I legitimately want Cephalos and Cephadrome back. They have so much potential that it feels kind of like a crime that their fight hasn’t really changed since 1st Gen. The only Cephalos/ Drome fight I can think of that changes it would be the Hardcore version. I think if they were to implement the Cephalos and Cephadrome into Wilds, it would require you to lure the monsters out of the sand. Once you’ve successfully done that, they start to fight you somewhat regularly, though the Cephalos say above ground for far less time than Cephadrome. With both getting a far more expansive move set to choose from. If the Cephadrome leaves the area you’re currently fighting it in, you then have to try and lure it back out of the sand again for the fight to continue. That way it gets to remain a puzzle boss, while still allowing for those quick enough to put them down before they get away. (Also it should go unmentioned that they need an HP and ATK buff considering their size.)
    After them both Gammoth and Gurenzeburu would be perfect additions to this games ecosystem mechanics since small monsters are far more interactive than ever before. So these two large herbivores (though Gurenzeburu might not necessarily be one, he at least doesn’t target herbivores.) both have ecology stating that they protect herds of smaller herbivores. Which could lead to cool interactions such as seeing a Tigrex attempting to hunt a Popo only for a Gammoth to grab it by the tail if it’s close enough, allowing the Popo to escape. Alternatively, if a Gurenzeburu is with a herd of Ceratonoth, and a Doshaguma pack attempts to hunt the Ceratonoth. The Gurenzeburu could start fending off the pack using its brute strength with its strong tail club and powerful shoves.
    Edit: I couldn’t remember the name of the flying wyvern Gurenzeburu and mixed it up with the elder dragon Guanzeromu.

    I can also imagine some really territorial monsters in the game as well - Diablos protecting its area from the hunter or other monsters, or Rathian protecting her eggs from a Kulu-Ya-Ku etc

    Crazy theory, given this game's heavy focus on these changes in the environment, I think this thunder wyvern isn't just a thunder wyvern. I think this wyvern's abilities changes depending on the locale it's in and the state of the environment. It uses the windward plain's natural thunderstorms to gain electric attacks. But in another locale, maybe one that's a forest that suffers from wildfires for example, it gains fire abilities through those wildfires. That could be what that gross organ is for!
    Especially if this flying wyvern is the flagship, I feel like it makes sense for it to be centered around a core mechanic like this game's changing environments, which they put so much emphasis on in the trailers.
    That, or there are similar monsters that also use their locale's weather events to gain abilities. I like the first one more though lol

    • @mechadebzilla
      @mechadebzilla 4 месяца назад

      I would rather there be separate monsters for each locale, each specialized to use the "storm" conditions.
      I hadn't thought of wildfires in a forest though. That would be intense!
      How about a tropical island paradise that is subject to volcanic eruptions at times?
      Or a humid jungle that gets flooded in a cyclone?
      High mountain pastures that get socked by alpine blizzards?
      And in each there is a special boss monster that gains intense abilities from the extreme conditions.

    • @VadeInSpiritu
      @VadeInSpiritu 3 месяца назад +1

      I agree I’d like to see multiple flagships or like weather related monsters / elder dragons even above the flagship railgun wyvern. Imagine like a tsunami water monster, thunder storm monster, forest fire monster, and blizzard ice monster.

    The last few games the flagship monster wasn't actually the final boss, but rather just something that at the time was causing issues in the region. In World and Iceborne, Nergigante and Velkhana were the flagship monsters but Xeno'jiiva and Shara Ishvalda were the final bosses. Same with Rise and Sunbreak, with Magnamalo and Malzeno being flagship monsters, but Narwa/Ibushi and Gaismagorm are the final boss. The flagship monsters I always assumed were meant to be awesome looking, a decent challenge and very unique looking armor. Long as they keep with that tradition, I'm happy.

    The Villager is using a very weird Throwing Lance, super short and with a binding that connects it to the Villager's arm...
    Do you think that's a new weapon type? Or simply the primitive way the villagers defend themselves (akin to felynes weapons)?

    Idk how you're gonna do Balahara in Lego. The tail has spines literally twisting down the tail and has a split lower jaw, speaking of which said jaw is retractable too. Not sure how it'll work but then I'm not as creative with Lego so perhaps there's a way.
    I think the new Railgun Flying Wyvern is kinda interesting, it seems to use it's horns to focus the thunder blast it shoots out? But before it even fires the shot lightning runs from it's tail to the horns? idk what that's about. It's cool either way :)

    My prediction is there is no real flagship in wilds.
    But rather this monster here is the one possibly causing the thunder storm.
    In a completely other locale we might have a completely different climatic hazard that involves another monster of some kind and so on.
    Probably the locales could be 4 considering how dense they are, so by logic, 4 monsters.
    This could become a crappy theory/prediction very easily but it would be nice.
    Although, don't hope too much, the final boss will indeed be the real cause of climatic imbalance and probably be resembling the MHwilds logo lol

    They did say it is a monster important to the story- so im thinking this new thunder monster is important/related to the thunderstorms in this locale, but maybe there are other equivalent monsters in other hunting locales! So maybe in each area there is a monster that takes advantage of the major storm-thing that happens in that area.

    Cooking! I believe there making this a staple of game play. The individuals interviewed have spoken many times about the way cooking "kind of" works but stressed the importance of ingredients. Also that one village in particular specialized in milk harvesting & processing only. This leads me to believe that we'll need to secure regional areas to increase our recipes and it ties into the main story.
    I'm better there are so many more recipes. I think they let us cook our own made up recipes and share it once we've made it enough. 🤞
    The "lighting" monster your seeing is just an area alpha monster, not a flagship. Also it's an example I believe they wanted to showcase of monsters utilizing the chaotic environment to their benefit in this case electricity. Other monsters will be using their own environmental chaos in similar fashion.
    Listen to the sounds of the electricity being made. That sounds more like static electricity being generated during these particle storms and the glands probably help it direct either a build up of static or direct a bolt. Look how the lighting goes upwards after firing, lighting doesn't always appear in the sky first.
    All just theory but the wing tips are coated in a oily metallic substance, perhaps for lighting protection/generation. I believe you'll have to wait until the storm hits the area to fight it.
    The flagship is gonna be something we're not expecting. I know the game is still far out but I keep hearing from interviews of the mh team that say: "It's monster hunter 6 and we are evolving the series". My bet it's a more than 4 person hunt somehow. Or it's something that involves the sand ship or being air dropped like in the Hell Divers game but from an airship.
    Just saw an interview where the mh representative slipped in that there will be multiple villages and seamless change between. Bet your player farm is just outside villages.
    So what's the gathering hub gonna be now with cross play? I think we're getting some kind of large scale separate hub with a regional theme. A great way to consolidate players and incentives micro transactions for cosmetics 🤨.
    But I wear tin foil hats so...

    I think Tri did the Flagship to final boss the best, when having 2 different monsters involved.
    Wold/Iceborne's Flagship to final boss didn't feel too deeply connected/plausible. Rise/Sunbreak had the same issue. Mangamalo felt like it would just randomly show up and do his own thing. I do give applause for Malzeno however as there was clear connection, but Malzeno was 1 of 3 flagships for Sunbreak and sadly the other 2 were kinda stand-alone.
    If the theory comes true where this unnamed Flying Wyvern is the flagship and is mistaken for causing the changes to the weather, then that has me really excited.

    Yeah, that's a flying wyvern, it doesn't have the 2 extra legs so people comparing it to the magalas makes no sense. It may be a sudo wyvern though, like tigrex but it also flies so more like barioth. We haven't gotten a new one of those since the last 2 in MH3, those being barrioth and gigginox. i hope we get gigginox back, it's been too long. I am pretty damn sure that ain’t the final boss so I guess be disappointed. Personally not sure why it matters tho. If it’s a good fight it’s a good fight. The story is really something to get out the way soothe real game begins anyway.
