@@spottablegaming425 turquoise vs blue, which isn't big enough of a difference to hold the theory. zinogre's thunder is sometimes represented using teal lightning, while in some other games it's a more pure blue. it's a design decision, nothing more imo

His lightning actually looks different form his world lightning color, and looks closer in color to wilds (it’s closer to teal than indigo). But in both cases it’s still natural lightning, because it’s used by Kirin. What I mean is that from one game to another, since graphics change, things might look different, and it’s not a convincing argument that the lightning is created by an elder dragon. Now I’m not saying the lightning in wilds is 100% for sure natural, it’s possible that it’s created by an elder, but you can’t just say a slightly different color is proof of anything. If it was an extreme color difference I’d hear you out though
Yes, that is a problem if monsters have already evolved to counteract it. If we killed the storm dragon, we'd be drastically changing the environment which could be very bad :(

the 4 smaller cyrcle dragons in the logo are the 4 locals and their apex. the bigger 2 dragons will probably represent arkveld and one more "boss" monster at the end of the story in my opinion. i would guess for a snake serpant dragon type monster which can control all 4 local weather phenomens like the downpour in the scarlet forest and the thunderstorms in the windward plains and the frost / lava weather phenomens we will get in the next 2 locals (ice/fire). i also think elder draongs are mostly out for Wilds and "extinct species/monsters" will be the way this time, idk what they will be like but from an interview with the devs i read i would guess so. cheers
I think that rather than controlling all the inclemency weather, it will be the inverse. The final boss will be an elder dragon that is somehow responsible for the plentiful periods. All the inclement periods have apexes tied to them, but so far nothing is tied to the plenty period.
One thing I'd argue is I don't think the final boss will be the source of all the storms that affect the locales. I assume it'll play some part on WHY it happens, but if a monster was the actual source, what does that mean for when we hunt it and finish the story? Then the weather events would either have to stop, removing one the biggest features advertised for the game, or they keep going and the player is left feeling like they didn't accomplish anything. Sure, they could make the storms less frequent but that still feels underwhelming tbh. I wouldn't mind if your theory was true otherwise though, I didn't like the duo snakes in Rise so I'd be okay with them trying the idea again. My crazy theory is that the final boss won't be some weather controlling, calamity triggering, end of the world Elden Dragon, but rather Capcom's take on the "pinnacle" predator concept, an apex among apex. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't even an Elder Dragon. I think the story will be a lot smaller in scale this time around. I agree with the theory that the snakes represent the apexes of the game. The 4 smaller ones being the apex for each locale, 2 of which we've seen already. The bigger one that's filled-in represents Arkveld, and the other is the hidden final boss who hunted Arkveld's species to extinction. I think the story won't be focusing on ending the weather anomalies or anything like that, but rather on the relationship between Nata and Arkveld, and understanding the balance of nature in a new uncharted land. Us hunters will probably hunt all the apex down because they're throwing that balance out of order, ending it all by hunting the final boss before it becomes the apex of ALL the regions. Course nothing is certain until we finally play the game, but man speculating is fun lol

I don't get the people who think a returning monster like Shantien or Laviente could be the final boss. Final bosses are always new monsters and I would honestly be disappointed if the big bad turns out to be something we already know about. And before anyone says that Fatalis was a returning Monster, no he wasn't the final boss of Iceborne, Shara Ishvalda was.
I'm starting to think that certain Elders are specific to their region, with the exception of a few who don't really give a damn. Teostra is everywhere... I hope we get to see Kirin again, it's an open field with storm and lightning, come on!
I can imagine that the hollow snake is arkveld, hollow due to being chained (like in that one image) and also because he doesnt seem to be tied to one locale. and the other snake being his rival, the apex of the final locale that unveils itself at the very end of the game and battles him.
it may be based off of the Egyptian god Apep (Apophis)he's a snake god that causes earthquakes and storms. He is also known as "immortal" so if he dies the storms mechanic technically shouldn't stop.
The monster on the thumbnail is Kushara Daola, it's near the snow area and the Dondruma in the illustration. Also I thought depending on the environment (the cause) lightning will have different colors. Kirin's horn seems to be what causes the lightning around it (just like other elders), I wouldn't say it's the only "real" lightning, the way people know Kirin's lightning is “real” is because the environment changes, also it doesn't directly come from the monster, how it looks doesn't seem to matter. I don't understand why Kirin, an elder dragon, can cause "real" lightning, while the final elder dragon in MHwilds can't, to me windward plain's lightning looks more normal than what Kirin does.
ok idea arkveld is a good guy imagin this arkveld one of the oldest beasts khown to man sees a serpent that destroys everything and destroys the land with stroms arkveld see's it and has only one reaction "i need to do smth or else no one will" so he starts the battle with the elder dragon amd the dragon escapes as arkveld goes after it to protect the ecosystem sooner or later they go to the forbideen lands where the keepers capture both as the syrpent tries to run away arkveld feels happy atleast no one will be hurt by the dragon so if he has to be in prison to keep others safe so be it but later in its life the elder dragon escapes destroying all of the keepers that contained him arkveld olso escapes to chase after it nata sees the carnige and arkveld running somehwere so he thigns he is the reason for it some time later arkveld figths the raydau and the hunter goes to figth it they battle for a while but hunter is gonna get hit by some falling rocks or whatver that will for sure kill them but suprisinglly arkvels destroys the rocks before they hit the hunter and it for sure was no accydent arkveld would stand over the hunter and then turn and walk away basyclly meaning "i am sparing your life DONT MAKE ME REGRET IT" and its quest is over (you can go and do the quest again and killl it but in canon arkveld would be still alive just escaped) even later the hunter finds the dragon and goes figth it later when the dragon is about to use its most destructive move on the hunter arkveld chains attack the beast stoping its move to show the dragon "HE ISNT YOUR ENEMY I AM YOUR FOE ITS ME WHO SHALL KILL YOU" so the battle continues but not arkveld is trying to kill both the hunter and the dragon and when arkveld gets hit and cant get up hunter would block the dragons attack giving arkveld a change to get back up and slash the dragon with its chains the dragon preparing its move again arkveld would get the hunter out of the way of the move and now the quest changes from a 1v1v1 into a jumping session of man and monster together figthing to protect their homes after all both desire only to safe nature from itself so the jumping begins and when the dragon is finally slayed arkveld would bow down to the hunter to show its gratitute and the hunter would bow down in return YOU CAN SAY THAT THIS IDEA FEELS TOO MUCH LIKE A STORIES GAME but if monster helping you out in one quest against the final boss is already so much like stories then rise and sunbreak are 80% a stories game beacuse of wyverride allowing you to ride and use monsters to figth your main target in 90% of the quests BUT YOU WILL AGREE THAT IDEA WOULD BE AWESOME

It's a great idea, but I don't believe MH will take a story like that, the most proximity of that was in The Witcher 3 collab with us fighting along Pukei-Pukei against the Lechen. I would love that and would create a deeper connection to ecology, Monsters behavior and nature preservation, show they isn't pure mindless beasts
Lightning color can just be engine change things. RE engine vs MT framework, even if lightning is created by a monster its not fake lightning most probably just an engine effect

I haven't heard anything like that. I could be wrong but that wouldn't make sense. We've never had a non-elder dragon affect the weather and nothing suggest that those two apex's cause the storms.

The problem with that is, once we finish story, kill the elder dragon causing it, it would mean the end of changing weather.
