Sure, it's got a blade, and it is pretty strong, but the bug is what ties it all together, applying free status, healing and buffing you, or even healing your team. You are basically a support caster. Not, well, Lancer from Fate.

@@ethanhostetler4007 Yeah but many have been screaming for a glaive weapon, me included. I love a heavy long reaching blade that makes me feel like Lui Buu from dynasty warriors. It's the one kind of weapon I feel like MH is truly missing. I'm with Degen here as I find the insect tedious to manage and takes me out of the experience of fighting the monster. I'd rather just be in there hitting it than backing up to hit the specific part I want to get my buffs up. Which is fine, I don't think they need to remove the insect for those that enjoy it. I just wish there was a side option where you could leave out the insect for some other mechanic to take it's place.

@@xelic1996 Tedious? I dunno, but without that bug it's JUST a stick. And it appears the Kinsect is here to stay, thankfully. That said, a dedicated spear weapon of some kind WOULD be neat, even if I would never play it. I like having the buffs it gives, and the resource management is pretty simple. I can either hang back for a sec, quickly target the parts I need, and then get back in, or just tag the part I'm currently beating, then move on when I get the buff. Plus, the bug itself being able to drop status clouds and healing means I can play a support role pretty easy, without having to just sit back with a bunch of potions and a gun. Like I said elsewhere, it's essentially a mage weapon. And it's not much different from managing a slinger either, just grab ammo, point, and sling. Just make sure your Kinsect is fast, some fights make it difficult to land extracts at range, although you aren't really going to be doing that much if you know what you're fighting... well dang, now I wanna go play Monster Hunter, sorry for the long ramble, this is one of my go-to weapons, so I'ma leave with this: If you want a suggestion from me, Longsword or Lance. Lance is way slower, not quite the mobility you want, but far simpler in terms of what you'll be doing, and Longsword, it's a bit complicated, and my other main weapon, of course, but it provides a lot of horizontal mobility when used correctly. Or if you really wanna make the glaive work with as little interaction with the Kinsect as possible, the head is always a Red Extract, get a Power Prolonger piece, wear it, grab red: profit. You'll have the combos and damage, and for a pretty long time. And you can usually start off most fights with a shot on the head if yer aim is good. Honestly, the only changed I'd want is being able to re-proc the 3 point buff. It feels weird not being able to do that. Anyways, later!

    • @_atsukii45
      @_atsukii45 19 дней назад +4

@@ethanhostetler4007Honestly I also kinda disagree too, since I think the weapon was originally meant to be more of a utility weapon not in a kinsect way, but more in a mounting fashion. In Mh4U when it was introduced, the biggest pro was that it was the only weapon that could do a mount without a ledge, giving out a good dps window. Not so much a kinsect utility since you couldn't aim well in a nintendo. Now they added an additional powder mechanic thing to compensate for the lack of usefulness in World, but I still think that it should be used as a fully melee weapon. It's hard to use it all in conjunction, managing the kinsect and dishing ground dps damage.
But I think the biggest advantage that Insect glaive has, it's the ability to gap close with the vault and then down thrust mid air so you can keep dps'ing the monster on the ground without giving it a moment to breathe.

@@degenerator Oh, was looking for one of yer comments. *Ahem*, as an Insect Glaive main, though I hesitate to say main because you can't really main two weapons... I guess, Longsword is the other by the way, whatever. As an IG user/main, I have things to say! While I do sorta understand not liking the bug aspect, it is very important, and also pretty cool when you understand it, especially when you can lace a giant bee with C4 explosives and nuke a T-Rex. It's not really a polearm, it's more like a magic weapon, if that makes any sense, with your bug being the main way of casting "spells". You have a variety of debuffs through different bugs, applicable elements, different bug stats, as well as self buffs through the main 4 colors (red, better combos and aerial moves, white, movement speed, orange, knockback prevention, and green, which heals you) Some of the bugs even have a healing dust instead of a debuff, which anyone can use, not just the person making them. Plus, your extracts do more than just what I've stated above, like giving you more damage, and can even be enhanced by armor skills. Point is, the glaive has always had the bug, it should always have the bug, and if it ever gets removed... it will be a sad day. Seriously, it'll just be a lame bladed stick. Also, you can buff the bug with slinger ammo, either more bug stamina or more bug damage, and it can do WORK. It's not just a thing for extracts, it's more DPS. Especially if say, you have a bug with blast that you tag on a monster, and then mount the monster. Your knife attacks can trigger these, as well as the spin moving from part to part. Anyways, that's all I really had to say. Plus, you don't wanna be Lancer... this carnival gets pretty deadly at the end. Low Rank is just the tutorial. Not to say don't play glaive, but I'm sure you get what I mean.
(EDIT, also some slight errors fixed) By the way, we glaive users/mains aren't mad, we're just disappointed.

In Terraria, there are times when the world will spike up in difficulty, akin to a set of stairs. However, there comes a point where pure skill becomes basically useless and you have to find workarounds.
This is balanced out by giving the player access to new materials after each step of progression, allowing them to partially flatten the difficulty curve so they can keep pace.
If you ever hit a wall, just go explore a little until you find a way to upgrade yourself.

    1) Always eat before a quest, unless you want to have -50% health
    2) Insect glaive mains will forever haunt your bedside. Also, you *can* be lancer from fate, if you learn to properly use the insects. Personally, I would also gut you for saying such blasphemy, but your choice of chargeblade saves you. I would go into a rant about how you're fundamentally using IG wrong, but I know it's pointless. I can only beg you to reconsider once you get better equipment, insects, and full flinch free.
    3) Immediately upgrade to the next rank in armour. Forget skills, defense is *necessary.* Jagras armour will get you to anjanath, and anjanath armour should carry you through most of high rank.
    4) Learn as much chargeblade tech as possible. *Everything* is useful. For an example, overcharged phial charged sword spam, or manual side hops. The first is indeed niche, but it can save your ass, while the latter is objectively amazing.

No one when talking about IG says "ah yes the weapon where I play discount LBG and collect color juice from monster", they say "ah the helicopter weapon".
The essence collection is a interesting attempt at resource management attempt. However the disconnect between the 2 portion of the weapon's gamplay just made it jarring and doesn't flow together.
Capcom knows this, this is why they added Kinsect Slash in Sunbreak. Now that's a solid improvement.

@@ghoulishgoober3122 you can in world. It's R2/RT. It's funny that people call the kinsect "chores" when they provide extreme versatility. You can:
      1) dual element. Works great on monsters that have special conditions. Example being a water kinsect to wash off the mud of a baroth while using a fire glaive. Or a certain elder that requires both fire and ice.
      2) a fantastic, relatively free poke on the run with the kinsect. No animation lock for you. You can roll, dodge, even jump! Speaking of....
      3) the ability to get airborne at any 19:36 time. Now some of the hitboxes are....well bad. But there plenty of monsters you can jump over their lunge, spin on a dime and rip down their spine with a driving slash, helicopter down onto their head for a mount, MOVE back and forth for absurd mount damage (basically immune to all but a handful of monster effects while moving) and a free knockdown where you ground and pound the shit out of it, and thenvyou leap right before it gets up for another driving slash into a downward thrust right before it clears its standing animation.
Now, downsides.....number 3 just ate all your sharpness. Also, it almost requires affinity to really start to feel good, and there just arnt a lot of options until master rank.

If people manage to learn to play well with desired weapons back when there were no guides, the in game tutorials only went as far as "combine this herb with this mushroom for potion, plus honey for mega", and when you had to chug a potion while standing still, then pose after finishing it, people will do fine.

I instantly groaned when I saw how small their health and stamina bars were, and that they didn't have 2 or 3 status buff icons flashing in their hud. You can't brute force your way through monster hunter lol. Wear all the right equipment, bring all the right consumables, eat all the right things at the canteen, and maybe, MAYBE you can afford to make a few mistakes. These guys are just charging in leeroy Jenkins style and then wondering why they get one shotted. As soon as I realized that the lance shield can block infinitely as long as you have stamina and there's a consumable that gives you unlimited stamina even master rank became too easy. Who cares about I frames when you ARE an I frame.

I didn't notice the difficulty spike until Arch Tempered became a thing. I find it difficult to play MHW these days because I took a long break after fighting the insanity of those monsters for awhile, and when I come back they're my only avenue left for progression... so hunting anything else feels pointless but hunting them (and their equivalents, like Alatreon and Fatalis) especially while out of practice and coming off of a break is just pure pain, an absolute chore and a job away from my job.
So I don't really play MHW anymore

5:25 as a charge blade main i disagree although the weapon is strictly speaking not the hardest mechanic in all of gaming to execute and play trough relative to all other weapons in mh it is indeed the hardest to pick up and play with, not only does it have the longest combo hold A>a+b>hold A>block+A>A+b>a+b+block cancel
you then need to do half of that again to charge phials to have the weapon ready to SAED, SAED is easy to miss early on but even after you get some experience with the weapon and start never missing it, the recovery animation stills fucks you up pretty hard
if you don't know watch a guide on how to play discovering how you're supposed to play the thing is also not that intuitive as overcharging phials will make you bounce off effectively making the weapon inusable until you recharge your phials
after mastering it you notice it's many strenghts and very few weakneses but that is locked behind a very tecnical weapon with a pretty high entry barrier and even higher skill ceiling than most weapons in mh
even on the simplified explanation takes several minutes while some of the truly easy to pick up weapons could be done on a single sentence

You guys are haven't really gotten to the point where you avoid getting hity repeatedly and avoid stuns or you block or roll through roars so I immagine you'll learn eventually, or you won't but you'll enjoy the game however you want regardless and that's just fine too.

Anajanath was a brutal wall in World, thank god they tuned him down in Rise, and he was pretty much replaced with Goss Harag, who was an extremely fun fight, but was definitely a massive difficulty spike, but i do miss the days of Barroth being the early game apex, eventually leading to fighting Barioth, and Agnaktor in the post game, which were both walls in their own right, with Aggy being the reason i learned lance! xD Stun also builds up quicker when you have thunderblight, so having max stun resistance against Kirin for example, is pretty much nessacery.

    • @J.H_.
      @J.H_. 2 месяца назад

For me, i dont think Anjanath was a difficult wall, it may be a family friendly way to play mh but, i always grind a lot for having all the armor i want and have a great drip, my really first wall was Barioth on iceborn because the fight was really intense (i took me 38 minutes and 0 faints), the only one who trigered me was Devilhjo first run with stun lock combo and other dirty stuff (this m*krs i always hated him since MH4U).
I understand your thoughts on the old mh games apex monsters and all, i started with MH4U and the apexs where gore magala and Seregios, that was the good old days... but i think evolution of the bestiary is not that bad because every monster keep their position in the ecosystem. I think what you were talking (barroth and barioth) was in the secund generation of mh games ? Was it a good games ?

Anjanath wasn't much of a wall, though. I mean, if you were already struggling with every other early game monster, then it would be, but if you can comfortably handle a Great Jagras, then you should, at minimum, be able to uncomfortably handle Anjanath.

Charge Blade does take a long time to explain, and feels like calculus when you do. But honestly, just playing with it, you can mostly figure it out. One idea that might help out others is to use weapon guides to fill in the blanks from your experience, rather than expecting them to teach you from scratch.

I'd like to point out how you said it was annoying to maintain one buff timer (red or triple is really all that matters, the rest is defense and speed, maybe white for jump height depending on the monster) and instead decided you wanted to manage a buff timer, a charge system, and limit your dps to smaller windows with larger windup that also require knowing the monster/spacing disproportionately to most other weapons.
Also saying the insect glaive should lose the insect and keep the buff as default is like saying the switch axe would be better without the sword mode, the hunting horn shouldn't have buffs, or the charge blade shouldn't have phials. It's literally the identity of the weapon. Being able to manage your buff uptime because taking in another version of the same buff doesn't refresh the duration. Allowing it to refresh the duration is actually a buff I think it should have for Wilds, or at least exend the duration by like 10-20 seconds with a cap, that way you can use it to your advantage if you're good, but overdoing it wastes DPS similar to hunting horn or charging phials when your weapon already has them.

The ways devs intend for u to play from lr to HR is to complete all ur canteen quests(and gather the rare account items from both types of area specific gathering nodes, crimson fruit and ancient fossils of rotten vale for example) and also all ur other equipment quests. It's also recommended to do LR kirin as well, and u might benefit from the zoarah gear which is ez save for the quest availability. Even with 2 lr rath pieces, zoarah legs and arms, and like lr Anja coil, things are still really mean and that's with armor upgrades. Mr is slightly easier bc beotodus is a bish and u have decorations going into it, unlike her where u get a single attack deco and nothing to slot it in.

I have to disagree with the "3 players is hard" thing. Mathematically speaking you just need to deal a tiny bit more dmg in a 3 man party personally than in a 2 man. The only thing you are missing is your cat, which isn't that huge of a deal, except if you rely on your vigorwasp and if you do, thats kinda a you problem. It becomes a problem when you have 1 player who is a deadweight though or even 2, since you now need to deal solo dmg or even more, meanwhile you can fail the quest because the other ones just want to get carried. Bu if you are all equal, 3 man shouldn't be harder than solo or 2 man. 4 man on the other hand is so fucking easy its funny ngl.
