Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
I sold snowblowers years ago. Honda’s were top of the line - very well made. They were more expensive than other brands, but probably worth it. That blower in the video will likely outlast the owner.
Common mistake people make...blowing into the wind. Let the wind direction determine which side of your drive you start on. Also if there is no choice drop your chute lower. Your welcome.
I have a HS624 I bought new in 1994. 21 years later runs just like new and moves snow like nobody's business! The kicker is its now worth more used than what I paid for it new 21 years ago.
very nice machine. Doesn`t even sound like the engine is bogging down at all and that is a lot of snow. Can`t believe that Honda is not on Consumer Report`s list of best machines.
Man that thing calmly cuts through that deep snow easily. Launches it far away also. I like! I have a small Honda snowblower single stage and it does a great job. I do covet this fine model.
I know Honda makes a good product but that machine can go much faster than that with that small amount of snow. It seems all of the Honda snow blower videos have their machines going at a snail`s pace.
I had a Craftsman (bought at Sears, but made by MTD) tracked blower, after 5 years the transmission imploded and was going to run about $1000 min. to repair. So I pull the trigger on a new Honda 900 series (step down from this one), first time using it, I knew I got my money's worth. These things eat snow and ice without breaking a sweat and looks for more. No complaints here!
I have owned my craftsman 8hp and 26" with tracks since new in 95 of course it has had repairs to everything since but still runs strong as ever. But this Honda is a Monster the way it eats through that deep snow I want one. Doesn't hurt to have a back up....
I owned a craftsman too but it wasn't quite big enough for my driveway it was a good snowblower the guy I sold it to is still using it and it works like new...thx for the comment
Is it me or does it look like the tracks are slipping a bit? I have a older ST824LE Ariens and I have chains on the tires. Unless I'm pushing a snow bank about twice it's height, they never spin. Some people complain about "marks" on the concrete when you turn but they go away over time what little some show up. That's why I'm a little apprehensive about replacing my current blower (it's days are numbered since it's already about 15 years old), with a tracked version of any model. Just not sold on tracks yet.
Why do people snow blowing have the chute straight up in the air?? Are they compensating for something?? There is no reason to be blasting the snow so far
Great video and audio of this machine doing its job, looks awesome, snow looks fine n dry but super packed, not as easy as it looks I bet, more vids cmn?lol
Up to 40 feet of throwing snow should be like this unlike the cub cadet 3x that claim by itself 357cc and 40 feet of snow throwing instead 5 feet of light wet and 14 feet of 8" thick none wet snow. Good thing that broke and I returned to the Home Depot. Now I bought the Honda, first try it is very strong far different it worth my money and thanks to the Honda snow blower videos
That blower is a beast! I’ve got the 928AWD and love it...went with wheels thinking it’s more maneuverable. Honda is the only brand you can push into a big bank and it never bogs down like the competition. How’s the maneuverability with the tracks?
My dealer said 9 times out of ten guys opt for the tracks. At least when shopping 2-stage Honda’s which are pricey to begin with. Tracks offer a lot more traction which makes them the better buy. I probably should have bought one.
@@TheSkeazle, Yes I have broken shear pins because I got a gravel driveway. It happens at the first of the season but once everything freezes that won't happen anymore. A friend of mine just bought a new Honda snowblower and he told me that when she seances the auger jamming with a rock she will stop and she won't cut the shear pins. I'm not sure if this is right but that is something you can ask your dealer about. Hope this helps you.
That looks like fairly dry snow. I'd like to see it handling heavy , wet snow of the same depth; the heavy, wet, water logged snow that my region most frequently gets !
That looks like a heck of a machine. Nice looks like you might have blasted some squirrels out of the tree that thing was throwing so high and far lol.
CapitalandLawns Yes so true...I change the oil at the end of every winter and take the spark plug out and put 2 table spoons of oil down the plug hole so the piston is well lubricated the next winter when I start her again, grease the bearings on the shaft by the tracks, spray grease on all the places that is shown in the owners manual, and the I spray the hole auger and shoot with wd40 to stop any rusting from happening then i put the cover over her to stop any dust from getting on the snowblower
When I was a kid I thought it was silly when people had that little cab and windshield on their snowblowers. Now that I'm 50 and watching this at my kitchen table with a hot coffee I wish this guy had one to protect from that blowback.
Lol....That day was really windy it's not like that most of the time...I had the cab it really doesn't work well...Snow sticks to it and you have to be cleaning it off all the time.
They make a plastic cab that fits most snow blowers they start at 60 bucks up to 135, and it will keep the snow off of you, that is the only part I hated about using a snow blower.
***** Yeah they are good snowblowers i've had mine now for 6 years and the only thing that i've had to do is is put in a new pin in the auger from time to time I have a gravel driveway and I pick up rocks that jam in the auger but its simple to fix its only a small bolt with a nut you replace on the auger and these bolts are there and they are meant to cut so you won't damage the the gear box.
I don't understand why people normally don't use the chute controls that the manufacturer gave them for a reason. Many times in this video you were blown with so much snow backdraft. If you would've just angled the chute downward decreasing the arch so it threw more directly into the snow you'd avoid all of that.
Nice unit, but I still prefer blowers from the 70s or 80s, built like tanks in America, but that's just me, I like old stuff made here, as do many other people.
Nice unit but I could never justify spending that kind of money on a snowblower. My unit is 17 years old and runs great. I think If I lived in Jay Peak Vt I could possibly be willing to spend a small fortune, probably not. Enjoy your nice machine they have a great reputation.
I don't like Honda engines for snowblowers they seem underpowered to me this is barely handling the snow my Ariens st1236 1998 36 inch wide never bogs down I've tried to big it down and it just doesn't stop they made those Tecumseh engines back then better than today's engines. Mine still works awesome I will say though The Honda track drive system is way better than a wheeled one.
nice vid. I read a comment that his Yamaha would eat yours. I only seen one vid of Yamaha & that is doutful. it showed about 3", so if they are that great let's see it. you chewed through that without a problem.😉
leaves a lot of snow behind. in reality 6" of snow is not as slippery as what this machine leaves behind. for over $2000.00 ( i don"t know if it is worth it) I would get a Snow brush. puts these machines to shame. Where the auger is they have a giant brush. It gets rid of that snow and the aftermath is way better. Plus, there is no problem with slush, wet leaves, wet heavy snow and the like. The brush you can use all year round. It puts any snow thrower away. Think about it. You can buy this for maybe 20 days a year on average or use the brush 80, maybe up to 150 or 200 days a year. If I had the money that is what i would do. So donate money to me so i can get the brush. thanks james
+james castanza I have a gravel driveway and i have the skid plates on the sides set at the highest level thats why there is snow left behind. If i had a paved driveway i cold lower the skid plates to take all the snow because i wouldn't have to worry about rocks the snowblower might pickup.

usually videos like this end up costing viewers money! haha

Crazy you never even hear the engine bog down once, just pure power all the way!!
I'm glad you posted this. Videos showing snowblowers at work on gravel driveways are pretty rare.
Honda quality is number 1 (the best).
Common mistake people make...blowing into the wind. Let the wind direction determine which side of your drive you start on. Also if there is no choice drop your chute lower. Your welcome.
The direction of the wind is always the same. In your face.
Watch more than 15 seconds of the video. It’s a swirling wind but alas. It is facing the right direction and he is doing it your way
I have an older Honda 828 track driven, Honda makes the best blower hands down.
Honda makes a good track drive machine.

Which one IS (The No. 1).
According to CR the top 3 two stage models in performance order are Cub Cadet 3x 30HD 31AH57SZ710, Troy-Bilt Vortex 2890 31AH55Q, and Craftsman 88874.
CR is american, they have always been biased against the Japanese, even worse after barack took the helm of the country.
That's how you know Consumer Reports is garbage
Consumer reports is from people that use there blower 5 times per year
This is really satisfying to watch.
thx.. hope you enjoyed it...

You are a great operator of that beast
*Quick tip*. Start plowing down the middle of your driveway then back up again on each side so you dont have to always rotate exit shaft each pass

I would think this man is happy that this machine has a track drive not just tires .
I believe this has the gx340 engine. Is that right?
point the shoot a bit lower so u dont get coverd... hows she doing n do u like the tracts better than tires ?

I’m in for a big change when I move from Texas to the north. I think I may be learning to drive again. We never get snow
Take it slow and you'll be alright, and buy good tires.
is it bad to pull back a 2 stage snowblower without using reverse gear
I don't think you can...
Bet it wouldn't be hard to rig up a sulkie behind it,long as it could pull the added weight.

Može li Honda mokar snijg bacati ???
Da honda može baciti mokro snijeg ne tako daleko, ali nikada nisam imao problema s mokrim snijegom
Is there really a need to blow the snow that high?? Why not direct it down about half that height and not deal with snow blowing back on you.

Actually blows snow without pushing a big pile of snow in front of it. Throws it a long ways as well.
