- The Land Rover Defender 90 gets the Range Rover Supercharged V8 and is transformed. MotoMan drives the 518 HP 2022 Land Rover Defender P525 V8 and learns there is good and bad in the move from Mild Hybrid inline 6 to Range Rover Supercharged V8 yet it contains something totally unexpected.

The V8 Defenders are available with 22” or 20” wheels not just 22”(in the USA). 20” come with off road tires only.
I have the Def P400 X 90 and absolutely love it, over the last year or so i thought I had seen just about every review on the internet, this is right up there with one of the best reviews out there, perhaps THE best, really informative and well presented - nicely done and thank you 🙏

As someone who actually would buy something like this, I was very turned off by the all-black interior and no vented seat option. I completely agree they didn't go far enough to make this a street-going hot-rod.
Update: While the initial launch of the V8 was only available with a black interior, Land Rover did start offering Vintage Tan as an interior color option, and ventilated seats are standard. Cheers to everyone who responded.
They have an insane amount of options. I'm sure you could get the interior you want.
This vehicle does have vented/cooled seats. It's standard on this trim.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 No it does not, Land Rover and Jaguar cars have very limited interior options. Still better than Cadillac or asian wannabe luxury brands, but Land Rover is so far behind german brands, besides Audi, it's sad for the money.

I believe, if a person is willing to spend 100k on a vehicle, then they shouldn’t complain about paying $100 “extra” tax.

they are doing the bigger screen as an option because the chip shortages and materials so they can deliver units imo
Now that the range rover sport has gone off the estrogenic design cues deep end (with touches of Tesla cyber truck) that was percolating up from the smaller variants in that line, Defender looks like a better choice if you need a Land Rover in your life.
I agree w/ you that the interior should match the price asked with an OPTION to go low like this if thats what you want.
There’s a no-cost option for leather seats, instead of suede, for the new model year.
sounds very austrian to pay extra taxes for a couple of additional giggles per gallon 😅

Looks fabulous but maintenance nightmare... Better have a second maintenance nightmare in the garage to drive while it's in the shop... Like a Jaguar or BMW. Maintenance nightmares. But you sure look fancy!
It will traverse the "terrain" of Dallas, LA, Miami..
Anyone who owns a Land Rover product wants the ability and capability to take it off road, hence why the ride height etc make sense...
Price of this defender 90 are almost the territory of a amg gle 63s coupe, guess i will choose the amg over this defender
agree that it should be a street version only.. nevertheless isn’t the standard excuse to many people to buy a suv? i.e. “oh yes it has bad fuel economy amd i don’t need it, but i can take it offroad” (which one never does)
This thing is baller! Im always leery of reliability but lets be honest. If i have this i have a few other cars in my 5 car garage.
I was trying to figure out what the hell you have sitting back there with wings. 🤔 The blue one baffles me and i cant get enough profile of the multi colored one at the end of the vid. Tell us! Ok i have to say im baffled because i think its a Chinese CJ6 but its pained up in US Navy blue. Do i smell toast?

This thing is not a G wagon competitor since the entry level unit is $50k. Too many of them around to have that G Wagon cachet. Also unibody vs body on frame..
Just because the G class is overpriced doesn't mean they aren't competitors.

The 90” hardtop would be better , but sadly you can’t for the D300 or V8 in it
This seem ridiculous as I’m sure the engine chassis etc are modular, so I’d wish they’d let the customer choose

Another theory on the optional screen: they’re doing that so that if there are supply issues with the bigger screen and they have to “downgrade” it, there’s a value attached to the option. I’ve noticed that Audi and bmw do the opposite by listing various credits for deleting certain items but it’s the same idea. Plus maybe some people don’t care/don’t check the box which further reduces demand for the bigger screen

All about the same price as this: Audi E-Tron GT $116K, Caddy Escalade , Hummer EV. I'd get either this or the Hummer first, then the 'Slade, E-Tron last

I would agree if we’re talking about Mustangs, Camaros, [insert almost any sports car], however in this situation it amounts to more crap that will imminently fail 😁 I would spec my Defender as base as possible ymmv aidc 👍
Disagree they should design it only for road use even IF that is 100% the intended use by nearly every owner. People who buy this like the rugged aspirational off-road halo… not unlike the 4Runner culture that mods them and never takes them anywhere but the mall or more than half of the rubicon owners who never go off-road except on a gravel street. Do NOT take this man’s advice Land Rover.
