  • About three weeks prior to departure, I decided I was going to drive my 1991 Mitsubishi Montero from New Hampshire to Northwest Montana where our families property is. This video Is all about prepping/preventive maintenance for it's 2,800 mile journey. Keep an eye out for the 2nd video in a couple of weeks, where I scoop my homie up on the way out of town and start driving west!

I just bought a 91 Montero V6 five speed manual last week and all I can say is I am so glad that someone took care of mine because it seems everything you just did in this video has already been done to mine.
    Heater core
    Radiator
    Hoses
    Brake lines
    Rebuilt and decked heads
    Master cylinder
    Distributor/ w wires
    Clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing
And so much more! And it’s a pretty much rust free unit.
Only thing I’m gonna do for peace of mind is fluid changes, new brakes/possibly calipers. Maybe new drums in the back. I got mine to be a daily and some called me a fool because of “limited” availability on parts yet I’ve had no issues finding anything yet!

That’s awesome, huge head start on maintenance. Not shown in the video, I had already done timing belt, water pump, pulley bearings, crank pulley bolt, cam seals etc on the front structure of the engine.
      Love these vehicles!
Yeah normal maintenance parts are totally still available for these, I get a lot from rock auto.

What radiator did you buy for it? It run well for ya?

I didn’t end up installing it, yet. I purchased a universal radiator from Eastwood, and had planned to make it work. Someone had already installed it in the Montero Facebook group.: www.eastwood.com/maxx-power-tri-flow-26-in-aluminum-radiator.html

You guys look tall in you thumbnail.
Mk1 Montero is 6'2" so you both must be taller then that?

    • @evantuerck
      @evantuerck  4 месяца назад

We’re about 6’3”. Factory suspension on Montero isn’t that tall. Thanks for watching!
