Day One I've attempted to make first contact with the busy couple. I've asked them to look into either "Malfeitor" by Watain, or "Tearing the Veil from Grace" by Cradle of Filth. In my opinion, each song would make for a good listen, so I thought they would be good recommendations. We shall see how the coming days unfold...
I think Waters of Ain is a better song to react to and interpret, because it isn't just an ode to Satan, instead it's about death and transcendence, which I think is a more interesting subject. Cheers
That was the first one I thought of, but I feel like Malfeitor is easier to get into for someone who hasn't heard Watain before. I agree with you none the less.

Another youtuber I watch did a livestream listen party to this and I absolutely fell in love with this album. The lyrics to every single track are deep and intense as hell. I highly recommend giving this whole album a listen. You'll have a field day with the lyrics, Vin. Guaranteed. Though, fair warning, have tissues ready for The Colour of Leaving. That song absolutely WRECKED me the first time I heard it and I still have trouble not crying when I hear it. It's also brilliant how the outro to that track fades perfectly sonically and lyrically into the beginning of Wishing Wells. Absolutely mind blowing. Damnit, I will pay both of you to listen to it. I will buy you the damn album if I have to. I really enjoyed your Biblical viewpoint in regards to the lyrics on this track. I'd love to hear what you have to say about some of the other tracks on Reverence. As always, much love you two!
Completely agree with you on the Reverence album. When they released The Void and Prey, I was a bit doubtful. IRE didn't really grasp me so I was really hoping for an album that would hit me hard. Those two releases weren't really making me feel like all the other albums before IRE, but Wishing Wells very much did. Then they released the full album and I can't say anything else than: it's a fucking masterpiece. Like you said, beginning with Wishing Wells en ending with Colour of Leaving gave the entire album so much more weight. It had a very personal story to tell and shares the feelings the lads from Parkway Drive have been feeling. My favourite album of all time is Killing With a Smile by them as well but there might be a chance Reverence takes the cake! Or maybe i'll say fuck it and they both get the number one spot. Anyway, gonna keep listening to it for a looooong time!
Been A Parkway Drive Since "Killing With A Smile" But Wishing Wells Became My Favorite Song Because Of The Emotions Put Inside This Song.. Losing Friends And Family To Cancer Is A Hard Thing To Cope With
I've lost my best friend to suicide, she was suffering neglect from friends depression and anxiety and one day she couldn't take it...I was the last person she texted before she shot herself....this song I dedicate to her because her time wasn't to come...so if I could I would kill God and the devil to bring her back so she can live her life fully...I miss you Izzy 2000- 2017....Be free Little Bird
What i mostly love about you two is that you go so deep in analyzing a song lyrically and musically! Even though i dont believe in Christ or a specific god the conversation was very interesting! I also want to remind you my suggestion ''Persefone - Living waves'' Have a good day!
Just and FYI guys. According to Parkway Drive-frontman Winston McCall, guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling, bassist Jia O’Connor, and drummer Ben Gordon-“Wishing Wells” is a meditation on the pain and confusion of loss. “‘Wishing Wells’ is the compression of grief into song,” says McCall. “It’s attempting to place blame when there is none, seeking answers where there is only emptiness, and ultimately trying to find some kind of reason and meaning to justify the ultimate loss we will all be faced with in life. This is how this chapter begins and will end.”
That is the first song of the album and it amazingly connects with the last one - "The Colour of the Leaving" Wishing Wells: "I spoke a vow today and asked if God would come and play [...] The Colour of the Leaving: "Never know how small your voice is Till you're arguing, arguing with God" [...]
Winston (vocals) lost someone close to him. The song is dealing with loss and coping with the pain of why God does the things he does. (I'm a believer by the way, but I can understand the pain and coping method).
Hellborn Savior I was an atheist for a long time. So I can totally understand the perspective. I've just experienced things that gave me a different outlook and changed my opinion on the matter. I don't judge anyone who doesn't believe in a higher being. And a lot of my beliefs are outside of the traditional indoctrinations that are taught and preached. But again, that's just me and what I've experienced and researched that has lead me to that place.
So glad you reacted to this song, this quickly became one of my top favorite songs by Parkway Drive. This whole album is just 😍👍🏻 the emotion is insane 🤘🏼
Excellent, thought provoking review. Thank you for not dismissing this music. Having these conversations allow people the confidence to find out who they are. I will never dismiss your content in the future. You two are important in this world. Peace.
One of those people he lost was friend Tom Searle (Architects), he refers to him and others in their song The Colour of Leaving off the same album. Very sad and powerful song. Parkway Drive - Boneyards & The Colour of Leaving Architects - Gone With The Wind & Doomsday
I LOVE how you guys make the reactions an actual discussion. Breaking down the lyrics and its philosophy rather than just listening and just saying it’s good with minimal review. Amazing review/reaction. Will love to see more of your videos now. Why did you not show the video though? The video was very clever btw it would have been nice for you to discuss it as well.
Trivium, Slayer, Pantera, Parkway Drive, killing it this week🤘 also loved the Tool listening party (tho I missed it live😭) Keep it you two✌ The Tea Party-Psychopomp😉😉😉
loved the in depth analysis as usual, thanks for all the time you guys take for these videos. if you are interested in unusual bands from other countrys give crystal lake - apollo from japan a shot. very dynamic and atmospheric metalcore that just makes you move. so long, have a good one! :)
I loved everything about this video. I love the way you two interact with each other and how you analyze the lyrics. As someone who has a decent understanding of the Christian religion, but considers myself non-religious, I can't help but be utterly engulfed and fascinated in the breakdown of the lyrics and how you relate them to the teachings of the bible. I have bookmarked a couple of your other videos for later tonight, and I deeply look forward to sitting down with a bowl of popcorn and a drink while watching them. Thank you for your contribution to the reaction community :D
This is from an article, and what they lyrics are about. "'Wishing Wells' is the compression of grief into song," says McCall. "It's attempting to place blame when there is none, seeking answers where there is only emptiness, and ultimately trying to find some kind of reason and meaning to justify the ultimate loss we will all be faced with in life. This is how this chapter begins and will end." (:
The song for me deals with the pain of loss. When you lose someone special to you and you become sad and mad at the entire world. If you watch the Official Video the facial expressions represent the features of someone in pain on the inside.
Damn you and your wishing wells means something different to me. When someone loses someone dear to them peoples natural reaction is "oh I'm sorry for your loss". "I wish you well". Drown in it cause tonight I'm killing god...
I love your analysis! This song is about grief ultimately. Winston is talking on the grief of his dog who passed away, and also about Tom Searle from Architects that passed away and how that affected him. You should look up some Northlane, i would love to see you do a reaction to Genesis/scarab and or Worldeater! the lyrics on those songs are intriguing, also another aussie band :)
love how people pronounce Australia, they make it sound like oustralia, us Australian pronounce it more like Astrailya. It sounds almost like we say a really quick and cut off "ass" a compressed "trail" and a classic "ya"
Wishing Wells' is the compression of grief into song,"It's attempting to place blame when there is none, seeking answers where there is only emptiness, and ultimately trying to find some kind of reason and meaning to justify the ultimate loss we will all be faced with in life. Said the lead singer
*This is the meaning of the song:* The song talks about human decadence and negativity. Winston (the vocalist) went on Instagram and said “The song is about dealing with grief & loss in the aftermath of losing a loved one. Searching for a reason & a way of computing losing part of your life you will never get back. Looking for something to blame as a way of coping with the unthinkable”. This song and a good portion of the album is about the death of Tom Searle who was the lead guitarist for the band Architects (gotta react to them), and Winstons beloved dog. Thought you'd be interested.
"'Wishing Wells' is the compression of grief into song," says McCall. "It's attempting to place blame when there is none, seeking answers where there is only emptiness, and ultimately trying to find some kind of reason and meaning to justify the ultimate loss we will all be faced with in life. This is how this chapter begins and will end." Seems like y'all hit the nail on the head. So much rage in this song, I love it.
Hey you two, i really enjoy your videos. Its great that you show lyric videos to the songs, so you can really concentrate on the music itself. I also love the way you analyse the thematic in all this depths - you take 40 min videos to take care of everything. Just wanted to say Thank You! .. and recommend a song of „Fear Factory“ called „Fear Campaign“. I guess it could be interesting for you ;)
This song is about dealing with loss and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the singer Winston Mccall wrote this song for Tom Searle of Architects because they were close friends
Really enjoyed listening to you guys, your review allowed me to see and listen to the song from another perspective which is always good; in a more personal note as a raised christian and open minded person is comforting to find someone who is a religious person (and live by it as far as I can see) can listen and read into lyrics trying to understand rather than just point fingers and judge at first sight. Amazing conversation, definitely got a subscriber here.
Love it! Such a good song! And suggestions... Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama (great introduction into the Swedish Gothenburg style) Periphery - Icarus Lives (not their best song, but it's one of their grooviest and one of my absolute favorites) Tesseract - Nocturne (one of the more catchy songs they've done (they're a prog-metal band), but still awesome) Deftones - Back to School (If you've never heard Deftones, you're missing out) Between the Buried and Me - Colors (the whole album, all in one go. You won't get a good feel for the band if you don't. This album is their masterpiece, IMO. Yeah, it's ~65m long, but it's amazing from start to finish)
Throw them into the deep end just do “White Walls”. I lost my shit when they started with that song the first time I saw Between The Buried And Me live.
Love how you guys are open minded to discuss metal in your faith! Belive me, thats rare and admirable! Growing an conversation is healthy and seeing stuff from others perspectives is amazing! I wish you guys do some from a band of White metal(May I say Rob Rock?) and right after from Black metal(Bathory, I can trully say they can represent the style).
Thanks for reacting to this guys. Just paused it at the end of the song and yet to hear your words about it. I'm going through something similar to what the band were when they wrote this. The loss of someone so closely held in your heart, to have them ripped out to never hear from them again, lead me to intense compression of grief, so that I couldn't let it go. I end up blaming anyone and everyone because I couldn't deal with the loss. The chain of blame ultimately leads to the door of God, as He's the ultimate Divine in my belief. It's not that I wanted to "kill God" but if he is the hand that guides everyone, then my logic didn't extend understanding to Him. I've since come to terms with my friends death, but still choke up every damned day about it, but the grief is no longer a compressed pit staining my soul. Anyway, that went longer than intended, and now I'll listen to your breakdown of the song.
Orange Man yeah They need to do less mainstream bands before they get too big. This channel is booming.Mudvayne and Korn and Slipknot fans will always be around but shit like the contortionist or dillinger escape plan may lose it's chance.
Hating me is conforming I got to them when they only had a few hundred subscribers and it still took me thirteen tries to get them to do the Hurt video. They did it, but I had to be relentless. I feel like there is no hope for any band/song at this point unless multiple people are repeatedly suggesting it.
The song expresses the anger and helplessness about losing close people. So basically it's about death. There is kind of a second part on the Album, "the colour of leaving", highly recommend it. Love your reactions, keep up the good work. Greetings from germany :)
Definitely give some of their other songs a listen. I definitely recommend. “Chronos” “I Hope You Rot” “Vice Grip” “Into the Dark” “Crushed” But Vin you would LOVE the instrumentals in “Chronos” and in a song from a previous album. The song is called “Wild Eyes”
This song is pure pain and rage, it's the most powerful song I've ever heard.. It really shows every feeling I have because of my best friend choose to die.. It consumes me, this is my feeling..
Spamming my song list as you said to do hahaha Another great video guys !! Sacred Reich "I don't Care", Death "Bite the Pain", (Chuck Schuldiner is a metal legend. Him dying brought a collective tear. Would pay homage to metal) Mushroomhead "Out of My Mind", Trivium "Like Light to the Flies", Nightwish "Wish I Had an Angel", Slipknot "Diluted", Stone Sour "Bother" (extremely deep song, would be a really good song to break down) Amon Amarth "Deceiver of the Gods" (this one is a must)
Australian here - Imagine having amazing local metal groups like Parkway drive playing local venues all the time until they get big! There are so many. As a 10 year veteran of the scene, please allow me to recommend the next big Australian metal group (and possibly the HEAVIEST ive ever experienced).... Initiate Jericho.. song: Vile
Fuck yeah guys I was hoping u would react to this song I was looking forward to what u would talk about for this one great fukin song by the way KEEP up the great reactions 🤘
Yo guys! New subscriber here; just thought I would throw out an idea as a thought piece, seeing as how your commentary is so through provoking for me XD I think the two pre-chorus sections could, by themselves, change the entire interpretation of the rest of the song if you let them. The line "sometimes all you wish for is a place, is a place to place the blame," could mean that he recognizes that all of the anger and frustration towards "gods" really is just people redirecting their grief, and the chorus could be pointing out the absurdity of believing that the cessation of belief in such an entity is synonymous with killing him, as if his existence depends on your belief. Moreover the second pre-chorus states "the last thing you wish for is the face, the face to face the pain," pointing out that the first thing people wish for in these moments is something to blame, when what they really need is a way to face their grief and overcome it, rather than redirect it. The entire song could be a dark satire pointing out the irony of spending so much mental thought on how to get revenge at something that is both beyond your control, and not at fault for the issue, rather than spend that energy trying to overcome the issue itself. I'm not saying that is a correct interpretation (based on some of their other songs that deal with religion), but it may at least be a mentally engaging one to think about. Sorry for the wall of text, just had to throw my thoughts out there :) Also, maybe check out nothing more or ten years if you want to find some brain food for a video :) not very heavy, but very good
The last line is crucial to the concept of the entire song. "The Devil and God have died inside me". The song is basically saying that he is killing off those concepts within himself. To rise above them.
here's a list of bands and songs i would love to see you guys listen to, all have great interesting lyrics and instruments Architects - memento mori Thy art is murder - puppet master As i lay dying - sound of truth the Amity affliction - geof sux 666
Winston always hits you in the feels in regards to his writing. Amazing lyricist and definitely makes you feel what he feels or felt at that time. Awesome band, even more awesome live. Much respect for y'all doing these reaction videos. Y'all should react to more of their songs. Dark Days is a good one. Blue and the Grey is another one where you can feel raw emotion. Chronos, Fractures, Sleepwalker, Idols and Anchors, Horizons, Old Ghost New Regrets.. just a few y'all should consider reacting to. Loved the video and how y'all analyzed it. Just got a fellow follower in Christ as a subscriber. Keep it up!
You guys are by FAR the best reaction channel in my opinion. And I just wanna say that I love watching your videos and to sori, I'm a MASSIVE fool fan so I get so giddy when You get pumped on their reaction videos, one song I'd like to see you guys react to even though it's not really rock or metal is I Spoke to the Devil in Miami and He Said Everything Will be fine by xxxtentacion, that song stole the words out of my head and I relate to it on so many ridiculous levels, and I would absolutely love to see what you guys think.
“‘Wishing Wells’ is the compression of grief into song,” says McCall. “It’s attempting to place blame when there is none, seeking answers where there is only emptiness, and ultimately trying to find some kind of reason and meaning to justify the ultimate loss we will all be faced with in life. This is how this chapter begins and will end.” - epitaph.com/artists/parkway-drive/release/wishing-wells
The song is about grief. he is creatively antagonising god as a way to to convey the message that he is hurting. if you move past the title and the first couple of verses he talks about how he is listening for sounds that are not there anymore. he misses someone or something. I know the singer doesnt believe there is a human like man governing earth. the first breakdown says "Because when everything is empty And your heart is set to cave Sometimes all you wish for is a place Is a place to place the blame." I think this says more about what the song is saying then anything else. the second break down starts with "Because when everyone's expendable And your heart can't take the wait The last thing that you wish for is the face Is the face to face the pain" I believe he means that he is over waiting for the pain to subside and he is building the courage to go face to face with the pain, finally getting closure. of course this is my take :) I also just realised this vid was posted a almost a year ago so you probably know all this by now. haha anyway nice vid nice discussion \m/
I absolutely love this channel and the deeply philosophical/theological thinking that goes on in the videos. I know you did August Burns Red not too long ago, but I think it would be amazing to do a video over “Provision”, “King of Sorrow”, or “Existence”. Grrrrrreat lyrical content. Peace and love friends! ✌🏼☺️
I'm a old school or OG Parkway fan from when they first started out. It'd be awesome if you did something from their first or second albums (Killing With A Smile and Horizons respectively) for a comparison of where they came from to where they are now (with this song) Good review as always!
A Farewell to Arms, Descend the Shades of Night and Imperium - Machine Head Choice Millionaire, Carnival of Rust and Drama for Life - Poets for the Fall
Someone has already said it below, but the song is about your rage after losing a loved one, it's all about the rage that pushes you to snap at everything and everyone while you're trying to process the grief.
Awesome to see Christians getting out there "in the trenches" and tackling the hard subjects! Love your work guys. Also, Reporting from Australia, we're angry because everything here tries to kill us! From the weather to the wildlife!
I am on a mission! I want to get Mike Patton’s voice to your ears. Yes, he is the #1 singer in terms of broadest range in all of music. Now, I could go the main stream route and have you listen to his most famous band(he’s in more than twelve bands), but I’m not gonna go that way in my suggestion. I’m gonna have you guys sneak in the back door by listening to his work with The Dillinger Escape Plan. He did one EP with this band when they had lost their singer. The song I’d like you guys to check out is When Good Dogs Do Bad Things. Now, to be that squeaky wheel.
This is crazy, I've followed Parkway Drive for years and listened to this song countless times and not once did I actually think that he meant he was going to stop having faith. I was looking at it like he was the one to blame and was coming to realization that he needs to own up to it and that God and the devil was just a metaphor for what was hindering this enlightenment and so he was going to destroy that part of his self so he could move on.
It's in the key phrase at the very end of the song to where he mentions about how the devil and God both died inside of him. Basically he killed them within himself, within his own temple.
I know I'm tardy to the party, but I have to say thank you for your reaction to this. This song speaks to me so much, I've lost my father and three of my closest friends that I considered family. I was going to ask you to react to it but since you have would you mind checking out suicidal tendencies- How will I laugh tomorrow or Suicides an alternative/you'll be sorry by the same band. If you see this thank you so much.
Song about seeking retribution for the premature loss of a loved one. Finding conflict in accepting any supreme being who has seemingly taken a loved one from you far too early (perhaps suicide or something).
You two done such a great job with this review, looking at the subject from both sides. Typically I click elsewhere when there's long videos, but I had to listen to the entirety of this one. Please check out 'I Hope You Rot' by them, he talks about the atrocities of the Catholic Church against children. Powerful song with a powerful message, I think you'll enjoy it!
Gonna continue requesting Advent Sorrow - Pestilence Shall Come. Like I always say, I really wanna hear your thoughts and opinions on a black metal band that doesn't deal with religious topics, and focuses more on existence and emotions. Also, would really love to see you react to Amorphis - The Bee, and Insomnium - While We Sleep.
Patrick Sherwood even more of reason for them to check them out! Australia is just filled with amazing bands. Ne Obliviscaris, Advent Sorrow, Deströyer 666, Thy Art Is Murder, Hobb's Angel of Death, King Parrot... the list goes on!
His lyrics were very reminiscent of someone who has just suffered a great loss. I wonder if someone he loved dearly had passed on and this was his answer to the grief within him. I have a VERY SPECIAL request guys. Would you check out a rap song for me? It's not your typical rap, but the lyrics are very VERY interesting to me. It's ZAC FLEWIDS and the song is LEMME WORK. Keep doing your thing guys. I LOVE delving into these philosophical endeavors. As a musician, and a lyricist, lyrics have always been point number one for me. Love you guys! God bless!

Ooooh Tearing the veil pleeeaaase!!
This song is about the loss of loved ones. This is the aspect of rage. The final song of the album is the contrast of this song. The Colour of Leaving is about loss but it is the aspect of grief.
Listen to these 3 songs in this order.
1. Wishing wells
2. Chronos
3. The colour of leaving
I second this
Agreed and I was under the impression this song was also about their friend who died from the band Architects
I hope they read this.
Matt H another song on the album is about that guy
Third this.
Should’ve watched the actual music video to this! It just shows his face the entire time and his emotion is overwhelming
I watched that clip the day it dropped and seeing Winstons face during the "ask me how I'm coping and I'll smile and say "I'm just fine"" part was powerful as hell

Been A Parkway Drive Since "Killing With A Smile" But Wishing Wells Became My Favorite Song Because Of The Emotions Put Inside This Song.. Losing Friends And Family To Cancer Is A Hard Thing To Cope With
It took me over a year to realize the noise in the background of The Colour Of Leaving was Winston digging a grave

YES! persefone's a great recommendation :)
My thoughts exactly. I love their deep, introspective conversations.
Winston has said this song is about the grieving process he went through after losing people very close to him to cancer.
Relatable I lost mom my to it

Great reaction do more parkway drive!!! Dark days, karma, sleepwalker, boneyards, crushed, bootom feeter. They have great songs
definitley bottom feeder and darkdays are my favorite :D
Sleepwalker is absolutely one of their best
Waddya mean! Romance is dead all the way
And horizons from the album horizons
Man said bootom feeter
That is the first song of the album and it amazingly connects with the last one - "The Colour of the Leaving"
Wishing Wells:
"I spoke a vow today and asked if God would come and play
[...]
The Colour of the Leaving:
"Never know how small your voice is
Till you're arguing, arguing with God"

The Color of leaving is about the Architects Guitarist
"How does a created being attack or fight their creator?"
Have you even seen the terminator movies?!
Peace.
Well you can add Karnivool and Northlane to the awesome Australian bands Both worth a reaction!
Unearthlywhales Northlane!!!
Karnivool - Lifelike
old northlane please!! not that i think they would understand what they are about
One of those people he lost was friend Tom Searle (Architects), he refers to him and others in their song The Colour of Leaving off the same album. Very sad and powerful song. Parkway Drive - Boneyards & The Colour of Leaving

Appreciate the review you two! Great breakdown as expected. Excited to keep watching you guys on this journey you started.
We’ve just begun !!!
The Vocalist wrote this song about someone he loved had passed away and he's feeling lost and losing faith. So, he's describing the pain he felt
damn your channel is blowing up :) must be one the the most growing communities at the time. very nice job vin and sori :)
"The devil and god have died inside me" which means he has lost belief
loved the in depth analysis as usual, thanks for all the time you guys take for these videos.
if you are interested in unusual bands from other countrys give crystal lake - apollo from japan a shot.
very dynamic and atmospheric metalcore that just makes you move.
so long, have a good one! :)
Yes!
The dali thundering concept - myth of happiness. I absolutely love the way the video was edited and directed
This is how this chapter begins and will end."
(:
The song for me deals with the pain of loss. When you lose someone special to you and you become sad and mad at the entire world. If you watch the Official Video the facial expressions represent the features of someone in pain on the inside.
Damn you and your wishing wells means something different to me. When someone loses someone dear to them peoples natural reaction is "oh I'm sorry for your loss". "I wish you well". Drown in it cause tonight I'm killing god...
You guys are awesome! Loving the videos!!!
awesome fucking song the lyrics are heavy but thats how i feel sometimes after i loose someone i love
Sure... if you disregard crappy keyboard and weak vocals :P
also didnt hear a keyboard o.O
Florian I think he was mistaking the slide drums for a keyboard lol
No? My bad, it still sounds shitty tho.
Nope, 100% serious.
Best metal band of all time, without question
love how people pronounce Australia, they make it sound like oustralia, us Australian pronounce it more like Astrailya. It sounds almost like we say a really quick and cut off "ass" a compressed "trail" and a classic "ya"
This whole album carries an enormous message. Listen to the colour of leaving and it will make way more sense.
Congratz on 100.000 subscribers! (I'll just leave this here in advance)
Hahahahaha I know right ??
so pumped you guys went for a parkway song
it's that moment when your in loss, when you can't believe what happened, and only anger is your solace. That is what this song is about.
Word! -Sori🤟🏻
Finally!!! Yes!! Parkway Drive reaction!!!
I guess it could be interesting for you ;)
Oh yes, I was thinking about suggesting Fear Campaign myself. Mechanize is such a great album.
Thank you guys!
That was tremendous!
Like your after-discussions.
Cheers from Russia 😻
Another interesting song about god you guys might really like to take a look at is the song nihilist by the band Architects
I think Broken Cross would hit this point even more accurate
or even these colours don't run
This song is about dealing with loss and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the singer Winston Mccall wrote this song for Tom Searle of Architects because they were close friends
Nihilist. Do it do it
Love listening to yall! !!!
Thank you !
i'm so glad you guys did this reaction! god bless
Love it! Such a good song!
And suggestions...
Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama (great introduction into the Swedish Gothenburg style)
Periphery - Icarus Lives (not their best song, but it's one of their grooviest and one of my absolute favorites)
Tesseract - Nocturne (one of the more catchy songs they've done (they're a prog-metal band), but still awesome)
Deftones - Back to School (If you've never heard Deftones, you're missing out)
Between the Buried and Me - Colors (the whole album, all in one go.
Yall are great. Love listening to yall everday!!!!!
Yessssssss!! Thank you guys!
React to Between the buried and me "Swim to the Moon".Although, all their songs are unique
Orange Man We just have to look in the mirror and say Vin and Sori 3 times and it will be done.
This is better than a Podcast! 🤟🏼
Reign of darkness- Thy art is murder (music video)
Land of snow and sorrow- Wintersun
Carbon phrases- Alkaloid
Crushed- Parkway Drive
Definitely give some of their other songs a listen. I definitely recommend.
“Chronos”
“I Hope You Rot”
“Vice Grip”
“Into the Dark”
“Crushed”
But Vin you would LOVE the instrumentals in “Chronos” and in a song from a previous album. The song is called “Wild Eyes”
Aussies don’t mess around when it comes to their metal. Alpha wolf, in hearts wake, make them suffer, thy art, capture the crown
This song is pure pain and rage, it's the most powerful song I've ever heard.. It really shows every feeling I have because of my best friend choose to die.. It consumes me, this is my feeling..
Spamming my song list as you said to do hahaha Another great video guys !!
Sacred Reich "I don't Care",
Death "Bite the Pain", (Chuck Schuldiner is a metal legend. Him dying brought a collective tear. Would pay homage to metal)
Mushroomhead "Out of My Mind",
Trivium "Like Light to the Flies",
Nightwish "Wish I Had an Angel",
Slipknot "Diluted",
Stone Sour "Bother" (extremely deep song, would be a really good song to break down)
Amon Amarth "Deceiver of the Gods" (this one is a must)
Australian here - Imagine having amazing local metal groups like Parkway drive playing local venues all the time until they get big! There are so many. As a 10 year veteran of the scene, please allow me to recommend the next big Australian metal group (and possibly the HEAVIEST ive ever experienced).... Initiate Jericho.. song: Vile
Your conversations are really interesting to listen to.
7:10
He was Friedrich Nietzsche.
From what i've heard from Winston (the vocalist) this song is about grief and rage after losing a loved one.
Periphery - Mile Zero
Fit For A King - Ancient Waters
Silent Planet - Native Blood, Panic Room, Depths II.
Fuck yeah guys I was hoping u would react to this song I was looking forward to what u would talk about for this one great fukin song by the way KEEP up the great reactions 🤘
Yo guys! New subscriber here; just thought I would throw out an idea as a thought piece, seeing as how your commentary is so through provoking for me XD
I think the two pre-chorus sections could, by themselves, change the entire interpretation of the rest of the song if you let them.
Sorry for the wall of text, just had to throw my thoughts out there :)
Also, maybe check out nothing more or ten years if you want to find some brain food for a video :) not very heavy, but very good
The last line is crucial to the concept of the entire song. "The Devil and God have died inside me". The song is basically saying that he is killing off those concepts within himself. To rise above them.
I don't know why hasn't anyone recommend you guys some Death yet!
Try Spirit Crusher, I know you will like it (specially the lyrics :D)
I have :(
Mundry owww, sorry man, I didn't notice you :(
As long as Death gets played at some point i'm gooood.
I've seen DEATH suggested probably more than any band... yet nothing ;)
here's a list of bands and songs i would love to see you guys listen to, all have great interesting lyrics and instruments
Architects - memento mori
Thy art is murder - puppet master
As i lay dying - sound of truth
the Amity affliction - geof sux 666
I always heard the first line as "tonight I'm kill God!" But "until I'm done" makes alot more sense.
This is how this chapter begins and will end.” - epitaph.com/artists/parkway-drive/release/wishing-wells
you guys have a new subscriber, I really love your reactions!
You guys should have watched Winston's actual video of this with his face in a monologue, very moving. You see the pain in his face.
The song is about grief. he is creatively antagonising god as a way to to convey the message that he is hurting. if you move past the title and the first couple of verses he talks about how he is listening for sounds that are not there anymore. he misses someone or something. I know the singer doesnt believe there is a human like man governing earth. the first breakdown says
"Because when everything is empty
And your heart is set to cave
Sometimes all you wish for is a place
Is a place to place the blame."
I think this says more about what the song is saying then anything else.
the second break down starts with
"Because when everyone's expendable
And your heart can't take the wait
The last thing that you wish for is the face
Is the face to face the pain"
I believe he means that he is over waiting for the pain to subside and he is building the courage to go face to face with the pain, finally getting closure.
of course this is my take :)
I also just realised this vid was posted a almost a year ago so you probably know all this by now. haha anyway nice vid nice discussion \m/
perfect with the electricityBall in Background
I'm a old school or OG Parkway fan from when they first started out. It'd be awesome if you did something from their first or second albums (Killing With A Smile and Horizons respectively) for a comparison of where they came from to where they are now (with this song)
Good review as always!
Listed!
A Farewell to Arms, Descend the Shades of Night and Imperium - Machine Head
Choice Millionaire, Carnival of Rust and Drama for Life - Poets for the Fall
Just recently found your channel and I love it! Sending some love from down under
Someone has already said it below, but the song is about your rage after losing a loved one, it's all about the rage that pushes you to snap at everything and everyone while you're trying to process the grief.
Seriously, check out the colour of leaving.
AMORPHIS THE BEE (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)
Heikki Turpeinen finally, someone else recommending this. Great song.
Queen of time is the fucking album of the year!
Nicklas Hellgren I wouldn’t say album of the year but it does have a few good tracks on it.
The album is a diamond. Might take a few listens on some of the tracks. But there is no fillers when the album opens up.
For me it’s easily the best album I’ve heard so far this year. Buy its all a matter of personal taste ofcourse.
I recommend "the remedy," "frality," and/or "the slow decay" by Polaris. Another australian band and I think yall will enjoy it
It's in the key phrase at the very end of the song to where he mentions about how the devil and God both died inside of him. Basically he killed them within himself, within his own temple.
I'm glad you guys did this review! Please react to Parkway Drive - Prey
You guys are awesome.
Damn she's hot
Gonna continue requesting Advent Sorrow - Pestilence Shall Come. Like I always say, I really wanna hear your thoughts and opinions on a black metal band that doesn't deal with religious topics, and focuses more on existence and emotions. Also, would really love to see you react to Amorphis - The Bee, and Insomnium - While We Sleep.
Andrzej Hodgson and they are from Australia!!! Lol 🤘🤘🤘
Patrick Sherwood even more of reason for them to check them out! Australia is just filled with amazing bands. Ne Obliviscaris, Advent Sorrow, Deströyer 666, Thy Art Is Murder, Hobb's Angel of Death, King Parrot... the list goes on!
Andrzej Hodgson Advent Sorrow is definitely a severely overlooked band in BM.
Faith No More- The Real Thing!!
Love PWD, And you two, plz do more of them
His lyrics were very reminiscent of someone who has just suffered a great loss. God bless!
