ALLTYNEX Second - Normal 1CC

A good, short shmup - in the same series as my favorite, Kamui. The worst part of this game is that annoying watermark on the bottom right. I had no idea replays would have it, and I strongly question whichever dev chose to add it in. Anyway, I love how aggressive you're encouraged to play in this game. Your ship has a normal form and a sword form. Normal form has a homing shot for its special, and sword form has a big laser. Both special attacks consume energy, which recharges slowly on its own and quicker if you pick up energy drops from enemies (regular form can automatically absorb energy chips, but sword form can't).
Orange projectiles can be destroyed by sword form, pink/purple can be destroyed by any attack, and blue and green can't be destroyed at all. Your ship has a shield that takes 1 hit before the next hit kills you (I got hit 3 times this run, losing 1 life). When you die your energy is set to 3, which can be good or bad depending on where it was before you died. The max energy level is 5. It's actually important not to use too much energy at the wrong time, because your main shot gets weaker the lower your energy level is.
Scoring involves killing small enemies fast and in groups to get extra points and increase the combo multiplier, and killing large enemies using the sword when you have a high multiplier. The (legitimate) WR on steam is around 26.6 million points. Pretty crazy considering the 2nd highest score is only 20.7 million. The first 1-up is given at 3 million points, and any 1-ups after that are given every 5 million points. The game pausing for a split second when you destroy things with the sword is intentional. There's an option to turn it off, but why would you? It emphasizes the impact and feels so satisfying.

You should try zero ranger if you haven’t already, I’m not huge into shmups but it’s one of my top ten favorite games now

@@LimeCultivist Ah so you did. The part of "Despair" around 41:25 in your video is an amazing piece of video game music, with the insane midi flute solo.
