I watched a video where the commentator said look for vegetation in a straight line perpendicular to the main stream. This indicates a crack across the stream. He said to look to those side areas for gold. this was in southern Oregon. I woud add you should always look for gold with the naked eye first. it will be right at the water line. Ive found it that way in 5 minutes.so easy!
I'm thinking right side of bank of stream opposite of scared tree maby beaver tried to work on it or a boulder hit it earlier in time can't tell on my phone the rocks look bigger to me or it eroding previous higher water mark ,I think gold would be waiting there
Buzzard and Tom Massie found that 800 oz gloryhole placer gold strike in a trap below a cascade in the Mother Lode country. Did their research and found attempts by the old timers to get to the trap by damning the river were unsuccessful, it had never been done. The Massie's used a suction dredge. A few nuggets were the size of potatoes.
I'm just starting out, and your description of everything is superior to anything I've heard yet!!! Thanks!

Goop point about vegetation! Always try the easy first, and surface observation is easy.
Where the eddy’s are potholes under the boulders
Holy task bar!
